In this special podcast episode marking the launch of Integrity Grown™, AEA’s verification standard, John Kempf shares the heart behind this new brand.
John advocates for a shift towards verifying outcomes rather than solely focusing on processes. Integrity Grown prioritizes the verification of outcomes across several key areas:
Harvest Quality and Nutritional Integrity: Ensuring the produce meets high quality standards and retains its nutritional value.
Harvest Freedom from Toxins: Guaranteeing that the harvest is free from harmful substances such as molds, mycotoxins, toxic elements, and pesticides above defined thresholds.
Soil Health and Ecosystem Regeneration: Promoting practices that foster soil health and contribute to the restoration of ecosystems
Moreover, Integrity Grown assesses farming processes within the broader context of regenerative agriculture. Practices like tillage, limited livestock incorporation due to regulatory constraints, or the necessity of pesticide applications are evaluated on a spectrum, considering the specific farm and crop context.
Integrity Grown extends its evaluation to the relationships between supply networks and farmers. It emphasizes the importance of developing synergistic relationships with growers, empowering them as stewards of the land, and ensuring fair compensation for producing exceptional quality.
Through Integrity Grown, AEA aims to redefine agricultural standards by prioritizing outcomes, promoting regenerative practices, and fostering mutually beneficial relationships within the agricultural supply chain. You can learn more about Integrity Grown here. About John Kempf John Kempf is the founder of Advancing Eco Agriculture (AEA). A top expert in biological and regenerative farming, John founded AEA in 2006 to help fellow farmers by providing the education, tools, and strategies that will have a global effect on the food supply and those who grow it.
Through intense study and the knowledge gleaned from many industry leaders, John is building a comprehensive systems-based approach to plant nutrition - a system solidly based on the sciences of plant physiology, mineral nutrition, and soil microbiology.
Support For This Show & Helping You Grow Since 2006, AEA has been on a mission to help growers become more resilient, efficient, and profitable with regenerative agriculture.
AEA works directly with growers to apply its unique line of liquid mineral crop nutrition products and biological inoculants. Informed by cutting-edge plant and soil data-gathering techniques, AEA’s science-based programs empower farm operations to meet the crop quality markers that matter the most.
AEA has created real and lasting change on millions of acres with its products and data-driven services by working hand-in-hand with growers to produce healthier soil, stronger crops, and higher profits.
Beyond working on the ground with growers, AEA leads in regenerative agriculture media and education, producing and distributing the popular and highly-regarded Regenerative Agriculture Podcast, inspiring webinars, and other educational content that serve as go-to resources for growers worldwide.

Wonderful, signing up now. Congratulations on the podcast, I am not surprised in the least. It is the best podcast out there for agriculture, people, and the planet. Great job.

Thank you John, keep up the good works! The criteria you describe very much reminds me of "the seven P's", to which I'd like to add an eighth P: Can I have a job please?

Wow that was awesome John !! Let’s hope you along with the help of everyone else can pull this off. It will not be easy as in order to gain the consumers trust there will need to be hard standard and something to police them as well as eventually stand up in court as if successful there will be opposition from those on the other side that stand to lose and have a lot of money Still I support this and will do what I can and hope others will do the same as even though I have my doubts it is better to try our best than to not try at all

This is such a phenomenal framing for how our food and eco systems can go forward. Side note: my 6 month old loves John’s dictation it puts him right to sleep. Which I appreciate. 😂

Sounds like you put a lot of thought into this🐸Big vacuum in this space of real food integrity certification🐸Biodynamic Certified seems to be the only legitimate certifier but some of their Dogma had too many loopholes that green stamped certification and was just too much for me to continue🐸good luck❤️

My only concern is the continued use of herbicides like glyphosate. Nicole Masters has been discussing how weeds can be removed by using the weeds as indicators of nutrient needs/imbalances and/or microbial community imbalances. She describes ways to eliminate weeds without use of herbicides and the effect is rapid. Why can’t we push for smart safe weed removal? And glyphosate kills the bacteria by interrupting the Shikamate pathway. Over time a farmer must input more beneficial microbes because that isn’t sustainable, right?

This is great John, just what was so badly needed for so very long! I can’t praise you enough for this. How can I show my support as a consumer and student of agronomy?

Simple: Ask your farmers to adopt Integrity Verified and then ask stores to purchase IVeri, and then buy it! And don't talk with you mouth full unless it's IVed😂

I would do it un a much simpler way. Measure diversity, organic matter, water retention ando contaminant presente in the soil. If those are improving year by year, la el it regenerating. If they hace reached excelente (for the local climate ando soil) La el it regenerated.

Being’s biological active carbon is tied to fungi which is tied to lipids which is tied to level 4 of the plant health pyramid and proper cover crops.

Very lovely! Wouldn't the glyphosate metabolites be still an equally as bad problem than the main form? But I guess then one can be organic and integrally grown❤

My same question? How is it different if your still allowing chemicals on food
@danlefever6254
@danlefever6254 3 месяца назад
I too am concerned about glyphosate use and all its chronic health effects. Getting farmers off glyphosate is not immediate, but they first need to stop using the GMO, herbicide resistant crops, and then never use it as an end of season desiccant; where the crop seed soaks it up like a sponge and it gets consumed. But as an herbicide its usage rates can be reduced by adding fulvic acid to make lesser rates equally effective. Next apply the specific biological soil innoculant that supplies the specific 6 organisms needed to degrade glyphosate; until it is completely innocuous. (This research is from Don Huber professor Emeritus Perdue Univ. A specialist on glyphosate / biology interface.) AEA's Santerra will do this, as well as Tianio's OP8. As regenerating farmers learn that nature or biology trumps chemistry always, they will migrate beyond its use.
@timshirk6261
@timshirk6261 4 месяца назад
If there was only 1 principle to apply that would achieve the most would be that soils need to maintain a minimum level of biological active carbon. This would insure so many things and would still allow for limited tillage, fertilizer and herbicide as if over did you would lose the biological active carbon which is easy to test and verify
@annburge291

This verification system is such a fantastic leap forward. I'd like you to include testing of aquifers and surrounding water bodies. One farm isn't solely responsible for an aquifer, body of water, rainfall but it would be good to have data on levels, toxins, biology to highlight problems and find strategies to improve the situation. Farmers could mention what they are trying to achieve with water management.

So your saying you would approve glyphosate grown food? It’s like a known drug addict testing negative for drugs. Hmmm! How much glyphosate would be permissible?

10:50 only allowing what the soil can metabolize and it does not show up in the harvested fruit or vegetable.

@@richardheinen1126 is there an “allowable amount? “ most foods have “ allowable amounts “ is your standards higher or the same?
@tradcon3096
@tradcon3096 4 месяца назад
@@robinliddle5029obviously allowable amounts haven’t been determined yet. I understand that glyphosate is now ubiquitous in our environment, so thresholds need to be determined once we have a sufficient simple and cheap test to measure it. This is a big improvement over organic IMO and I am an organic farmer.
