Totally enjoying the two of you and your perspectives. I am 67 and learned to sew at 10 years of age on a treadle machine (which I still have). After a prolonged absence from sewing, the advent of rotary cutters, cutting mats was a game changer. Retired now, and loving the option of RU-vid instruction and the wonderful sharing that folks like you are giving us has to be my favorite "tool". I learn so much from these videos, and can re-read at my leisure to learn a new skill. Keep sharing with us!!!

I love this quilt and I made it. I found a quilt kit of it at a shop in Bend, Oregon. My husband says it is his favorite. I was having problems with the stems and I emailed Sherri and she immediately got back to me and helped me out. I think she even put a tutorial up. This is why she is so special she loves helping you out and always responds to emails and comments and not all designers do!

I have actually used leftover batting to make some larger quilts. I just put my joining foot on my machine and zigzag them together. First, I straighten the edges so they fit well next to each other.

Thank you Sherri for telling me to only have one container of batting scraps. I just went through mine and found I had kept way too many small scraps. Your direction made me realize I am never going to use those and it was ok to toss them. My guest bedroom is much tidier!

Hey Chelsea I can't sit and sew without my bamboo stiletto. I use it to guide fabric by the needle as to not stick my finger in the sewing machine. I store it in a clear small bag with some other goodies ie seam ripper, extra bobbins, small scissors, bone folder. It has a real pointy end and a blunt end. I do not remember where I got it but it is my absolute favorite item. I also wanted to tell you we would go twice or three times a year to quilt retreats and I loved seeing everyone, playing the games we made up, all the food we shared, ideas, and obviously the stores we would shop at in the vicinity. Love the vlog. Hugs from Minnesota

I’m so happy I got your fabric in my Sew Sampler, because I was able to use it for your quilt along. I ordered a few more of those fq bundles from FQS. They’re on their way. Plus the matching solids. So that may be what I make the whole quilt out of.

I love your podcasts and look forward to them! Can you talk about how to fold and store quilts so you don't get that really hard crease/fold that appears on so many quilts after you've had them for a while. How do you store large quilts and also mini quilts? What color batting do you use? I've heard that if you have a quilt with a lot of white, you shouldn't use a cream colored batting because it will really change the color of the quilt.

loved hearing about your fabric journeys! I started with Thimbleberries with my Mom. Then became an Amy Butler fan. I also had some time making Jo Morton mini projects. Hi I love your podcast and your RU-vid videos and all your tutorials! I am a beginner quilter and I have learned so much. I have pre-ordered a jelly roll of happy days and have found a pattern that I think I can do. I was wondering what white fabric you use with that line of fabric? Or do you have a favorite white fabric that you use when you do your quilts? Or, is there a fabric in happy days that I could buy yardage of that would work as a white background? Thanks so much!

Hi! I’m a new viewer, and enjoy your podcast! I have a question about selling quilts. Aside from obvious statements included in a pattern that say “for personal use only”, can you discuss making and selling quilts? For instance, no one owns the copyright to a 9 patch or churn dash block. Thank you!

I have a question for Chelsi, I bought the American Patchwork and Quilting magazine for Oct. because I fell in love with your pumpkin quilt on the cover. Now when a magazine takes your pattern do they condense it for the article or is it exactly the way you wrote the pattern ? You will laugh, but as a newer quilter if the original pattern has more visual step by step I would pick up the actual pattern. Look forward to the next vlog, thanks ladies.

I feel that the triangle paper wastes more fabric then cutting triangles with an old method. Fabric is so expensive now, I feel like I don't want to waste anymore than I have to. What do you do with your little scraps? Do you make crumb quilts?
@sherrimcconnell4094
@sherrimcconnell4094 4 года назад
Yes, triangle paper does waste a little fabric. But I use it primarily for the smaller hst's where accuracy is my primary concern and there really isn't as much waste. I generally don't use it for hst's bigger than 3-4" unless I have a ton to make. I don't save anything smaller than 1 1/2" x 1 1/2"...and I'm planning a postage stamp quilt with those squares :) I've heard small crumb-style scraps also make great dog bed stuffing and that there are organizations that will take those donations .
