Some people experienced freezing when going through a doorway or hallway. Even a change in flooring like going from tile to wood flooring can trigger it. In some this freezing isn’t just the feet,it can be the body overall that doesn’t respond. Then you just have to be patient and wait it out. Hopefully it’s not in a place where the chance of falling is a danger. Then it’s best to use a walker when out doing errands. Thank you for this video about this topic.

We did another episode on freezing of gait with an actual patient who experiences it if you are interested. Episode #42: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bapIU9iipL4.html

Thanks for covering this topic, it is my most frustrating motor symptom. I walk with a cane not because I need the cane so much when walking, but particularly in public it lets people know I have something other than being drunk going on. It took a while for me to convince myself to use one but now I wouldn't go out without it.

Counting a cadence out loud helps, and restarting whatever step I am in. Also it helps to know where I am going, for example at the dentist office and they call your name and say to come on back. I get up and look at the long narrow hallway with lots of open doors on either side and it freezes me instantly like shoes nailed to the floor. I just tell the person I have Parkinson's and it helps for me know where I am going. Third door on the right she says, then I can focus on that door and restart my step.

That's also a good tip! I'll have to share these with my other PD friends

This was really informative.. I find myself freezing when I’m walking in a crowd of people. I guess because my visible cue is lost and I lose my cadence. It can be very frustrating. Thank you keep up the great videos.

This conversation reminds me of this video of PD patient and how he reacts to stairs: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Lc-8gzTDD5I.html
