It's Kara's birthday, and of course we are celebrating with this latest episode of Nobody Asked Us presented by Brooks Running. There are so many presents in this one...

Man, you two are my absolute favorites! I relate to so much (as I’m also in my 40’s). Side-note, don’t do LASIK now. I had it done in my mid-20’s which was fantastic at that point in my life. Being in my 40’s now…vision changes so much and wouldn’t be worth it anymore 😊

I’m late 30s and in my best shape - physically but also mentally and emotionally. It helps make the 40s and 50s a lot less daunting - very excited for what’s ahead and great to hear this from ladies I look up to!

I’ve never related to anything more than that conversation about contacts. I think lasik could probably relieve some anxiety from my life and save me tons of money!

This was a fantastic episode! Nobody asked, but you gave us lots of great opinions. One thing: Des said “We need to take a dramatic shift,” and I thought you said, “dramatic shit!” And I was like, what?! 😂 46? Daaaaaaaaang, girl! But maybe your mind is going now (forgetting phone is on)? ;-) Anyway GREAT episode!

Yes! I wear contacts too I think about it a lot too! I need my sight for survival and glasses suck if you have an astigmatism. My glasses create a pulling back a bow effect where if you look at anything straight on it bows out in the middle. I want lasik but I’d be walking around like a drunk for 2 weeks before it cause you can’t wear contacts for 2 weeks before LASIK

ask your optometrist: probably too late for lasik at 46 if goals it to be without corrective lenses/glasses completely. getting it will allow you to avoid corrective lenses for distance for some period of time, but you will need reading glasses all the time much sooner, which will negate the benefit. and of course there are some risk of side effects, most common of which are halos around lights at night (impairs night driving) and dry eyes. lasik is great if you're in 20s and myopic, but not too myopic, and not hyperopic.

Definitely check out Lasik. I had fantastic results but results are different depending on the individual. Worth looking into the options though.

Great episode as always. Technical question- is there a way to put Kara and Des side by side on the screen as opposed to cutting off Kara’s head?

Thanks for the question! In this case, side by side vs. this layout wouldn't make a difference. Her head was cut off due to the camera orientation so it looks that way either way. We will work on the camera orientation!
