Lovely to see Jordan talking more in the videos and getting more confident in front of the camera 👏 To keep the weeds down naturally, lay newspaper/cardboard down and cover with mulch, dead leaves etc. Watch The Wildlands Garden in Portugal for tips on how they manage their garden.
I absolutely love watching your content. Thank you for bringing us along with you. The progress you have made is mind blowing and the green door looks fantastic 🫶🏻
Oh man, that's just not possible. Not unless we get a production team behind us. We have to be realistic, we have a renovation, kids, jobs.... if only if only. Maybe one day when we make more revenue from this we can invest it back into the channel and pay someone to run the content.
Love your channel guys, I really envy what you are doing, and have achieved. If I had my time over I would certainly do something on the lines of what you're doing. It looks lovely where you are, all that lovely scenery.... And space! ... Spare a thought for us city folk living the rat race 😂 also what wonderful memories Leo will have to cherish. You're such a special family and I wish you the very best ❤ 🙏
Hi guys great vlog as usual, try putting wet cardboard down around your seedlings next time you plant to reduce weeds. You've done an amazing job on the farm 👍
Another great episode. Having had a total rebuild myself I remember these individual sometimes small but almost always tidious projects. There didn’t seem to come an end to it at the time. But it was beautiful in a sense that it was hands on living in the moment doing something where you can instantly reap the profits of your hard work. Enjoy it my friend, you will look back in a couple of years and laugh about the anecdotes and all. Hard work, lots of laughter, frustration, blood, sweat and tears. But it’s all worth it. Can’t wait for your next episode. Cheers , Stieven
100% . We are already looking back and laughing at some of what we had to go through when we first came here. Crazy was an understatement when looking back at everything. Appreciate you following our journey ❤️
I am pleased to see a time line in print as I can remember now whats ahead for you weather wise, I live in BG too but up the North East way. I would plot an area to weed kill, and keep tilling it after you have killed it off. Move to another plot and carry on doing this, The grass looks mainly Rye which is a bugger to get rid of. Watch what your BG neighbours do and plant and where.
Very much agree with the cardboard suggestions for weeds! We have done this ourselves on our allotment with success. Look up the no dig method - grows better veg and less intensive work with less weeds. Good luck 🤞
Have a look into making and using raised beds for growing instead of planting straight into the ground. If you add a form of liner at the bottom it should cut the work down when it comes to weeding as well as providing a lot of other benefits then digging into the ground. It wont ruin your land as well👍
Yes, we put the date om at the star of the video so everyone can see the timlime of the video ☺️. We have plenty of footage. We're closing towards the end of our first full year in bulgaris which will complete our first season very soon 🙂
Well done you guys. BTW Round Up is simply diluted Glysophate. If you buy Glysophate neat, water it down and apply with a sprayer you will save a small fortune. Best wishes. Paul.
Completely agree with the cardboard idea, try and get some raised beds even for herbs, grow chillies in pots, divide plots into manageable areas which will work in your favour in the long run.
Hi mate you do not need to work hard weeding your garden choose the patch you gonna grow whatever in it for the next season , make a removable fence round it ,let the chickens spend sometimes in it ,before you know it you will see the grass and weed all gone and your soil richer with chicken manure, did it before it works hope that helps.
Cant wait to watch the next installment, talking of which, when will this be? Reminds me of when we took the plunge to move over to Bulgaria 12 years ago & the renovation project.....oh the renovation project...along with a 16 yr old, our dog, plus several rescues along the way.... Youre doing amazing & you will go far, as you both have a great work ethic as well as wanting to teach yourselves new skills & the never give up attitude..bravo 👏👏👏
Ahhhh, so frustratingly today after waiting a week and half after our order - a video editor off fiver cancelled the video editing as he's sick. Really frustrating because now we're even more behind and I've got to quickly get one edited. Really annoying. Thanks for the kind words 😊
We need to see more of Jordan. Myself and daughter find her so entertaining! I'm trying to convince my family to move, but i have 3 teenagers who have friends here in the UK. I wish I'd done this when they were younger. My children have SEN. How have you found the education system? 😢
I get such a buzz watching all your achievements, big or small and this episode had just about everything starting with that watery paint, how did you end up fixing it so it was thicker, also loved the lid flying off, pretty sure it made us all jump =) The end job finished up looking awesome. The mushrooms looked a bit sus but you survived and they did look yummy so 10/10 for that one and I bet little Faye loved her first day of kindy, how special. The drain repair take 2 looks pretty substantial with that big grate so fingers crossed its a winner. The garden looks brilliant but that grass is a killer, can you put down a kind of weedmat before you plant again? As always you've given us awesome content from your little piece of Bulgaria, loved every minute, cant wait for the next one
Chicken of the woods is very good mushroom, but you have to be careful eating it for the first time (try some small amounts), because it may cause an allergic reaction. Also it is good only when it is young and soft, otherwise it becomes very tough and woody.
hey guys, check out Charles Dowding's channel, he's got good ideas about gardening and getting rid of weeds in the garden. His approach is easy and efficient, basically you lay down some cardboard on the weedy area and then cover it with compost, this will suffocate most weeds and you will be able to plant in that fresh bed quite soon. Good luck!
Part of becoming a real bulgarian is spending whole day picking weeds. You will get used to it and begin to love it. You will go to sleep and in your dream you will pick all sorts of weeds. Your local granny should tell you the name of each of them - щир, балур, дяволска ябълка, тлъстига, троскот to name a few. Better go buy a мотика or two: makes life easier. But the fun will come in a year or two. I guess this garden has not been tended to for years. Now that you started growing potatoes you will attract the сляпо куче. It lives underground and LOVES potatoes and onions. It will pick them for you so you dont have to sweat.
😊Another good episode 👍🏻 Not sure if I have missed this in a previous video (probably have!) but what is or will be your form of income when the money has ran out. Presuming you will get jobs there or are you able to work online for a UK company still?
hi guys lots of work there would like to help but still in uk sadly, anyway heard you mention roundup and please be aware that roundup causes cancer in animals and people
Have to say I think your paint may be for garden wooden sheds etc but I could be wrong I agree I love the colour but it’s going to be hard work for you
Contact channel 4 and do a series on TV like Dick and Angel did. Love your Journey. I am coming to Stelcher for a holiday in 4 weeks. Are you any where near there.
You have got to be very careful with mushrooms. Some of them have doubles which look exactly like the originals , but they are poisonous. And collecting mushrooms usually happens in autumn October, November when it is wet and humid and they grow like crazy after a rainfall.
I'm terrified of wild mushroom collecting. I was offered a basket full from a very elderly man who knew what he was doing but one mistake and......the end. I couldn't eat them. No-one tells you how exhausting and time-consuming growing veg is. Weeding and watering goes on forever. One day you will afford to have raised beds. Don't make the mistake of having them too low else there isn't much of a difference between the bending. Instead build really deep ones and fill them with tree branches and bricks etc at the bottom etc.
@@frombournemouthtobulgariaif you…. “Plug” it like last year I mean what you did with the tractor, but instead do it by yourself with … shovel? We call it rounding the soil, then the grass won’t grow so much. I did that last autumn and now we did it again with a machine small one not like tractor and then we will plant stuff 🤷🏼 and we don’t have weed… only where we don’t plant stuff and there we use lawnmower just to keep it short but with this pesticide you said, it’s not very good to use it at places where you planting stuff to eat as this chemical remain in the soil for few years and you may end up buying seeds that are resistant to this chemical and on and on and on….
The Roundup issue I believe was a very big thing in the US. Lawsuits and everything. I believe European Roundup contains different ingredients. The US is not great looking after the citizens against businesses.
Have you thought of setting up a business helping other families navigate buying properties over there ? Pooling an interpreter , families wanting to sell , solicitor, the etc who ever you need to buy property and delivering it at a fee ?
Tanni, keep watching 😂. The whole thing is a series, things happen on a timeline. When you get to episode 22 the finale, you'll see the chicken Coop finished. Patience!
You need to take your childs to close to you so they do not become someone else’s ( if you get what I meant) we learn on first seventh of the creation akt after we are born and it takes 1 and a half year to start saying even some words therefore the school in that form it rather be harmful than helpful .
You should remove all the "plevels" (check in bulgarian) every weed that's nearby your plants otherwise they are reproducing more easy and even if u remove all they always grow again.. it's not easy to be a farmer
