Charlize is too old now for Furiosa. Fury Road was 10 years ago and Charlize was already starting to look old in that one. But they should have had a woman with Charlize's build. This new girl looks really petite and fragile. She has noodle arms.

yeah i know Miller said he didnt want to de-age Charlize because he thought that would be too distracting but given how much not great CGI was used here, I dont see why he didnt just do that anyway. I love Fury Road but maybe this would have worked better for me had they done the movies in reverse order.

George Miller said Charlize would be too old to play her younger self. But I wish they had searched a bit more for Furiosa and not gone with Anya Taylor Joy. She's good, but she didn't sell me as Furiosa.

Yeah I know why he did it, I guess i'm just with Charlize and wish they had done Furiosa first so that she could have played the role in both films. Because I agree, Anya didnt sell me Furiosa the way that Charlize did.

your review is adequate but it would be helpful to comment on the actual final product rather than your own expectations. best of luck to you!

I didn’t care for it going in. I loved it. I had only seen Fury Road of the Mad Max Movies. I went back and saw the Mad Max trilogy. It’s almost perfect how much it ties in all the movies with the world building. I liked it better than Fury Road. I love the recast, and she did good as furiosa. I want to see another one at least.

its a time jump between movies because dementus under the tree was at least 70 plus...thats the time marker.. its at least a 20 year time jump because he was grey and still in shape when furiosa defeated him, so he was anywhere between mid 40s and maybe mid 50's.
@cinematicsarcastic

Yeah i guess maybe thats something i dont think Miller does well, being clear on when in time things are happening in this movie.
@cinematicsarcastic

Plus from the beginning of Furiosa to the point Charlize makes it to the green place, that whole time is only 20 years. So then does that mean the point we see Dementus under the tree is after Fury Road?

@@cinematicsarcastic I'd say the movie from the time she's captured as a child to the "crotch tree" scene spans exactly 40 years. When she takes the fruit from his tree it's the moment Fury Road starts. Your review was a good representations of how I felt about it , This movie was a bit of a jumbled mess, but not a total loss. Parts of it were a little cheesy on the CGI, and a few more lines from the main character would have helped at times. Also a little flashback to how Demetous lost his family could have brought a little more depth to his character. Finding out how the Green Place turned to dust would have been nice too. All in all I still enjoyed the movie, and the action scenes, but not as much as Fury Road. Im hoping that George Miller will knock it out of the park on the next one

@@edjackson4389 In Fury Road Furiosa says its been 7000 days. So thats just over 19 years from the time she was taken as a child to when she finds the green place again. But this is kind of my point, I think Miller maybe either doesnt know how to convey time or maybe didnt remember the time frame he had set for himself from Fury Road. Either way it makes it confusing. At this point with Furiosa not doing very well in theaters, I do wonder if we will see another Mad Max film. Though I suppose Furiosa could grow over time to get us there.

I respect your opinion, but please allow me to make the case why (imo) Furiosa is a better film from Fury Road. 1. Fury Road doesn't really have a well developed story. The story basically boils down to 'lets get from A to B - and have a big chase'. That's it. Not only is there no emotional connection to Furiosa, but even Mad Max is portrayed by a different actor, so there is a disconnect with the two main protagonists. Namely, Fury Road doesn't really go too deep into the Mad Max Universe lore, nor does it seem to care much about the characters, villains or anything other than mindless, fun action. I love Fury Road - especially when I am in the mood for 2 hours of adrenaline-filled-non-stop-action, but there really isn't much story, drama or lore to the movie. Furiosa fixes all of those problems. 2. Action is far more diverse in Furiosa. Namely, in Fury Road, the action is all about 20 different iterations on an adrenaline filled chase through the desert - and Miller is very creative with how far he pushes this. BUT... it's still just a car-chase. In Furiosa there are car chases, infiltration and rescue action scenes, fortress assaults, all-out-war, etc. And on top of that there is room for personal drama, love, revenge, etc. -- Given 1 and 2, and given that you apparently liked Fury Road, I find it a bit strange that your biggest criticism seems to be lack of story (06:52) and characterization.

lol hey i'm here for the conversations around movies and just give my opinion in hopes of having people actually leave comments exactly like yours, if you agree with me or not! I guess for me Furiosa kinda felt like they were just going back and forth between the same set of characters without really ever getting anywhere. And I felt like she had multiple chances to run but for unknown reasons never did. Plus with the obvious element of having disappeared from the "harem" I felt like Joe would have acknowledged that or been more concerned especially given his reaction from Fury Road but its just never mentioned again. Perhaps what was missing for me was not so much a story but a story that went deeper into the moments that gave me a better look at the character, such as the love story etc but really just felt to me like it was more shallow. But I do appear to be one of very few who felt that way, so perhaps I just wait for it to come out on streaming and give it another go, maybe watch Fury Road right after. Also I just really miss Mel Gibson if I'm honest lol

@redknight4805 3 месяца назад
@@cinematicsarcastic Thanks for clarifying. And I do agree with you about certain parts of the movie just being glossed over too quickly. Joe not addressing the disappearance of a child he negotiated for his harem is a perfect example of this. Or certain things happening off-camera (like how Furiosa escapes and loses her arm). But, that is Miller's style - which happens even in Fury Road. For example, in Fury Road, at one point Max goes out in the middle of the night to deal with the gang that was starting to approach them, and how he handles that whole situation is done completely off-camera. I think Miller doesn't like to get bogged down with details and sometimes just chooses a short-cut, which works a bit better in comics. But now that you clarified, I do think I understand your position a bit better. :) EDIT: Oh, and about the part that Furiosa had numerous opportunities to run away, but didn't... I am not sure at what exactly you are referring here? I think Jack at one point in the movie addressed this by saying how there is really nothing but gangs and desert out there - and he offers her a way out, which she then accepts. But perhaps you meant something else?

@@redknight4805 yeah i guess maybe you have a point there, I'm not a great judge of distance when it comes to the mad max films. At least in Fury Road (which i'm not sure its the same in Furiosa) Gas town and the Citadel are close enough to signal one another, so in my mind I guess it didnt seem like it really was a terribly long distance from where she was found to any other spot. But to your point in Fury Road it does take them several days to get past the green place and there were other groups to contend with, so maybe not the best for a small girl. Had she not stayed to watch her mom die, I think her story would have been much shorter. Darn kids never listen lol
@redknight4805
@redknight4805 3 месяца назад
@@cinematicsarcastic Oh, you shouldnt blame yourself. I mean, one thing the movie didnt really explain very well is how far everything is. Again, Miller taking shortcuts due to runtime and the amount of stuff he had to go through. Each part could have been a movie in itself to really do the world justice, so compromises had to be made, I guess. And that is not on you (the viewer). Again, this is perfectly justifiable criticism imo. The only thing that can be deduced from watching the movie is that the place of abundance is located a few driving days from Dementus' camp. But since during that time they were just a roaming band of thugs, there is no telling how far that location is from the Citadel. Probably a few more driving days at the very least. Still, nowhere near enough to get there on foot - even if we ignore all the dangers out there (like sandstorms, gangs and wild animals). But regardless of the size of the world or the distance between different towns, the ppl living there are pretty much savages. No place for a little girl to go to. At least not until she learns all the ropes from Jack

@@redknight4805 I could have used more of Jack too. I wish they had cut some of the little girl scenes at the beginning half and added more to the relationship with Jack. Not even romantically, just in general. I enjoyed his character and didnt feel I got enough of him. Especially considering I guess he was our stand in for Max in this one.
