Gosh, I'm only 10 minutes in & have to comment! Thimbleberries--years ago at the time we only had 1 tiny "quilt" shop here in town & they offered a "Thimbleberries Club". We'd meet there the 3rd Tuesday of the month, get our patterns/monthly project kits if we were using Thimbleberries fabric, take it home, sew up & bring it to the next meeting for "points". The top 3 who had the most points for the year got cash prizes :) My first several quilts were out of that fabric & I really liked it but when Lynette Jensen came out with the lighter, softer colors I was in LOVE!!! Thanks for the flashback :)
@@judyannyelton3906 haha guess you gotta get them quilted now :) I got out one of my tubs yesterday that still had some in it & they are from '04!! I chose to not do the quilt that year, but do the "extra projects" that were offered. It was basket-themed that year. I do have 4 or 5 of the projects done that can be table toppers or small wall hangings, and lots of yardage that I can use for the backings :) Guess those go on my bucket list to finish this year!!
I appreciate the little "asides" such as the book recommendation Sherri made today....this community is certainly about quilting, but sharing good reads and recipes (Thx Chelsea!), is what makes your podcasts so enjoyable! Glad to hear that you both plan to continue your podcasts even though we are getting back to "normal" after this crazy year. This format from designers has just made our lives so much richer!
Can’t believe you have been doing this for a year. I remember it was the beginning of COVID and it was the first time of my working career (50 years plus) that I was working from home. You have both kept me sane and I really look forward to your videos. Keep it going ladies, and Billy 😀❤️🇬🇧
I can't begin to tell you just how much I have learned from you! My knowledge of quilting techniques, fabrics and just the mechanics of the design process! A possibility for the pre cut bundles, buy TWO! One to take apart and sort by color and the other to look at until you have that perfect quilt you want to make! I know that can be expensive but it would be for those precuts you just can't bear to breakup!! Thank you both (Billy too) for sharing with us.
What great questions today,, I may have recognised myself in some of those answers , I mean who knew that the ribbon on a fat quarter bundle actually untied 😂😂
I have really enjoyed listening to or watching your podcasts over the year! I love the family interaction, seeing your quilts and I enjoy the questions and answers! Great job, and I hope you continue!
I love your podcast! Having a variety of topics is good as I do check out some of the links attached. I bought the needlepoint and I am thinking of purchasing a second pattern as a gift for a friend. It also has allowed me to explore other quilting and misc podcasts that I have enjoyed but would have never listened to without your introduction. Keep it up girls... I look forward to them each Monday that they are available.
Sherri and Chelsi and Billy! You have the best Podcast❤️ love the you tube channel also. Chelsi should join Sherri more often on the channel. Sherri love your BOM!
I love learning from all of you, love your fabrics, love your patterns, and so appreciate the included links and notes on your videos. Thank you for all you do.
I love your podcast. It is so soothing and you both have a wonderful interaction between the two of you. Wishing you…and Billie is awesome…all the best as the days move forward.💕
your individual journies mimic mine....in the beginning i thought i knew exactly what i'd always be doing...NOT...i have so grown and I love it! thanks for sharing
Thank you for giving me the go ahead to open my fat quarter bundles and separate by color! It has been a question on my mind for a long time and I just couldn't bring my self to do it. But today is the day!
Synthropol is very popular in yarn dyeing to prevent the colors from traveling if you are doing self striping or speckles. I wash all my quilts and comforters on deep water wash in my HE machine.
I love all of your quilts but I can only imagine making the larger piece patterns. Wish I could have the time to piece little pieces but that’s not for me! Thanks for providing larger pieced patterns. Larger pieces equal larger blocks & faster finishes! That’s me! Lol! Beautiful work!
I have been using Synthrapol for a couple of years and it works great every time. The bottle really lasts a long time because you only use a teaspoon or so per load. Works well for clothing as well.
Thanks Sherri and Chelsi, have loved listening and watching the podcasts for the past year and look forward to many more ahead, hello from Melbourne, Australia :)
Thimbleberries! What a blast from the past! My sister & I were obsessed with that line of fabric. And I think I have every one of Lynette Jensen’s books. I still have some of her fabric in my stash 😊
Congrats on the soon to be one year! I’ve enjoyed your video/podcast so much. I love the new fabrics and quilts and the life tips too! Love your new collections!
I've really the colors in Balboa and have already pre-ordered a FQ bundle of Sincerely Yours. These two lines have colors I'm drawn to more than your past collections. Looking forward to seeing what's next!
I can’t believe it’s a year already, I really enjoy your podcast on you tube, I am in Australia so it’s lovely to see and listen to you both. Also thanks to Billy for the videoing.
I think we also need to remind ourselves that when we open a pre-cut we are getting even more eye candy seeing the full piece of the fabrics rather than such a small part of each. However. I also agree that sometimes we need to wait for the right project to come along to open up a pre-cut. Perhaps opening them up right away will inspire us to decide which project to make.
Thanks for such a great podcast. How about a small mystery project to celebrate your one year anniversary. I know you are so busy so I hate to mention this, but we all love you so much and would love to celebrate your anniversary with you!!!
Oh my goodness!! I loved your answers to opening a precut bundle! I feel like you answered some of my concerns, such as... what if I forget the name of this fabric line, etc. 🤣 But when I find the perfect pattern, which usually is from the designer of her fabric line, I am so satisfied and happy that I used my bundle!! 😍😍 Love your podcast!
Very interesting about the high efficiency washers and the dyes. I hadn’t thought about that? My HE washer has a setting to add more water to the load. I’ll be sure to use that!
Brilliant episode! So much info. I have a jelly roll of Balboa that I am afraid to use because it was so hard to get in the first place. Mixing it by colour etc with other fabrics might help inspire me to use it. Thanks
Thank you for your podcasts/videos. I look forward to them. You both talk about packing patterns, do you sell more physical patterns or PDF patterns?. I like the PDF and then print them out right away. I have seen some PDF listed as "only one more remaining", do you have a limited supply of them when you sell them that way or may someone just limit the number of them they sell? Congratulations on your one year anniversary! Thanks to Billy too for adding to the podcast/videos and doing such a great job with them!
ok second comment...I still love a good darker traditional type fabric but thanks mainly to you have definitely transitioned to loving brighter and happier fabric designs. Summer Sweet was my introduction to happy and I've pretty much never looked back.
You two are so sweet alone & together. I think it’s so amazing that you are an mother/daughter duo - I think that would be an amazing workplace. How long had each of you been quilting before you started designing?
Have you all made quilt(s) with dark backgrounds? I’m playing with idea of using the charcoal gray in Balboa & making a contrast quilt. What do you all think?
A Question for the Podcast: Can we have a more in-depth discussion about what constitutes a low volume, please? I feel like there are very obvious low volume choices in collections, but then I feel like not everything with a white background is a low volume....or is it? I think some prints "read" a certain color even though they're on a white background. (I'm trying to develop a good system for my own stash and am getting overwhelmed lol) Thanks in advance! I'm posting this on every platform in hopes that you guys will see this! LOVE LOVE LOVE listening to you all on RU-vid and podcast formats!!!! You all stay on replay! Thank you for doing what you're doing!
I love the Beach Day quilt on the table-I just bought the pattern at FQS. I would like to make it 96 x93 for my bed. How can I enlarge and how much more fabric would I need? Thank you. love to watch you all.
If Moda asked you to design a forever basic, what motifs, textures and color pallets would you consider so that you might be able to include these fabrics in your pattern designs?
I bought Summer Sweet and wondered which Moda color you suggest for background? In your May podcast you mentioned Vanessa used off-white and white on a quilt together that didn't work, and then gave examples of when combining whites and off-whites does work well (scrappy and the Flag quilt). I'm wondering with each line if you use the same background fabric? Or if you suggest different background fabrics as each new fabric line comes out?
I've been watching since the beginning, and for the life of me, I can't remember if you ladies starch or not. I know Kimberly at FQS does, but I have never tried it. My sewing skills have been improving with every block I make, and I'm wondering if it's really necessary.
I'm also protective with precuts....one solution is to create a quilt which will showcase your fabric. Or possibly a tote bag or crossbody! Just fyi...camera seems blurry today...episode 28
Billy...How come I feel like I’m watching a Howard Stern show with the big head sets and the over sized microphones. What’s the reason? I watch several videos and I have never seen this before except on Howard Stern.
