I've been watching your podcasts and love your projects and your project bags are lovely. You look so much younger with your hair brown rather than blond. Great podcast 😊
I started with crochet and then learned socks too! Socks are so portable but it took me 3 years to finish my first sock. Tension, technique, frogging so many times and then it was too small for anybody but too big for kids. But, my next one was just three weeks. And now a constant on needles WIP is a new sock with a crochet WIP at home. You will get there! Choose a forgiving yarn, cast on to a one size up DPN and then move onto your needle of choice. Keep a really long tail to use as a marker and scrap yarn on the other Half point for heel and toebox marking. Card board cutouts of the end goal sock size is helpful for not-your-own-foot WIP
Our favourite family board game is Ticket to Ride. So much fun and everyone likes it! I have just discovered your podcast. Thank you for sharing your knits!
Thanks Lisa, I hope to share more progress as and when we've done a bit of work. I'm so glad the weather has cooled down because it was way too hot for us to be down there recently 💕
❤ Wonderful podcast. So glad I found your channel. Congratulations on your very own plot of land. I would love to see your gardening videos. You are very very good at putting colours together with your knitting and crochet. All the best, Joyce
Thank you Joyce, I’m hoping to share about our allotment as and when we have made progress. We haven’t been there for a little while due to the weather but we hope to spend more time down there soon 💖
So pleased to hear about your allotment, you’ll love it. We have two, one for lots of veg and things and the other one has an orchard we planted with plenty of wildflowers doe my 2 beehives that are down there too. 🐝 🌻
Another lovely podcast! Your socks are all so pretty! Thanks for sharing your thoughts of how you think a skein of hand dyed yarn might knit up. I always find it amazing how differnent a wound of skein of yarn can look once it has been wound into a cake x
Really enjoyed watching today and seeing all those lovely socks. I also like knitting dishcloths for nice relaxing tv knitting. I have just finished reading Lucinda Riley’s “Missing Sister” I think it’s number 7 of the series and so enjoyable. So glad you finally obtained your allotment and I’ve never seen an artichoke either. Will be great to see your progress with clearing and growing your veggie patch ! Take care and thank you xx
Thank you Heather, we have now trimmed back the Artichoke plant and I can't believe how well it's responded! I am still trying to listen to the 1st book via Audio, they're all so long aren't they? But I've been told Very good and worth the read! 💕
I just found your wonderful podcast🤩. Love all your socks you knit😍. My top 3 board games cluedo, ticket to ride and loony quest😀. Lots of love from a Swedish podcaster💜
Lovely podcast. For USA viewers, I'd like to point out that the Molly Makes Crochet book that Sherrie shared, the USA version is HOW TO CROCHET: WITH 100 TECHNIQUES AND 15 EASY PROJECTS. It does have the patterns Sherrie shared. Congrats on your piece of land, and looking forward to you sharing more of it. I also encourage anyone waning to learn how to knit, to keep trudging! I started out with crochet and like Sherrie, I thought I'd never be able to knit a sock until I finally did it. The first one came out huge, but I learned all the important techniques.
Just found your podcast and love it. I actually just knit 2 socks with a 20g Contrasting mini. On a sock with 56st I was able to get 2 pairs of cuff and heels and one toe. I had to improvise to finish the second toe, luckily I had alot of teal to finish the second toe.
Definitely a summer of socks. I started out dealing with 1 sock syndrome, but in the past couple years decided to finish the pair before starting another - more satisfying to me. What a lovely idea to have space near your home for a garden! Enjoy the fruits of your labors. Love your podcast. Thanks for sharing.
Congrats on the allotment - I am so lucky to walk out my door and harvest my own veg here in NZ. Attempting the Stephen West contrast blast surprise socks - really stretching my brain. Happy sock knitting
Sherrie,,!! Thanks so much ,,, Such a great episode,,, Love all the socks,,,,gone crazy this summer too, with summer sock camp,,,and love shorties,,,Made a few and wear them all the time,, I was watching a podcast and she was using her 20 grams minis to make one sock!!!great idea,,,,didn't think it would go that far,,,but it does!!!one shortie sock ,,,with contrast colors for heel, toes ,,and cuff,,,,So have a few mismatched ones and love them so much,,,Never get second sock syndrome,,,,!! Great u have a plot now,,,,exciting,, Have a great summer,,,, Elaine 🏡🏡 Must make blueberry waffle sock pattern next.,!! And working on heel toe dosido!,,
Lovely to see you. I have an allotment, i mainly grow soft fruit and flowers as my family are highly suspicious of home grown vegetables😂. You will enjoy yours and i want to grow artichokes now just for the flowers! I don't buy many books because i work in a library and my boss is a massive crafter so we have a huge range of books on knitting and crocheting. Our family favourite board games are Cleudo, Sorry and Tension. Tension is fabulous for all ages to play together because there are questions that kids know and adults don't and vice versa. Have a lovely weekend xx
Sorry for my late reply! Thank you for watching, that’s lovely you have an allotment. I’d love to know what your favourite fruits/flowers are to grow? We still have so much work to do but it’s all part of the fun and process. How nice it must be to work in a library and plus have all the nice crafting books as well. I’ve not heard of Tension or Sorry - I’ll have a look for them 💖
Wonderful to see you again, Sherrie! Oh, how you make me laugh...looks like dog's dinner😂. And I'm grateful for your encouragement! I have picked up knitting needles for the 3rd time in my life and am determined to stick with it this time. I have been crocheting for three years and love it, but I've noticed the patterns that catch my eye are mostly knit, so I'm really hoping to get good at knitting. I couldn't do continental purling, so switched to English style knitting and still struggle with tension/how to hold the yarn. I had the same issue with crochet in the beginning, way too tight stitches. So I'm hoping my tension will relax in time. I'm worried my stitches are going to slip off the needles, so I think I keep them too far back. But I've no idea how to pick them up yet if they do fall off as I'm still learning how to read my knitting. Ugh. Trying not to get discouraged. I keep dreaming of knitting a sweater, so I'm persevering. Any tips? Your thoughts, words of advice? Really love all your makes! You're an inspiration!! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed watching and yeah - the dogs dinner 😆 How are you finding the knitting? Perseverance is key, I am a tight knitter yet loose crocheter - so funny 😆 I think it's because I was always so tense when I was learning to knit. Maybe try some wooden needles? To help the stitches to say on? Also Very Pink Knits has great tutorials on YT. Thank you for watching and keep at it 💕
I’ve finally got around to viewing your channel after hearing about you via various channels. I love to crochet, cannot knit but would love to knit socks and I’ve also got an allotment this year too! I’m off to watch your back catalogue 😆
Sherrie, you are such a delight to listen to. I was knitting on my shortie socks while you chatted. Made my day complete. One series I just finished on Netflix was Lincoln Lawyer. Highly recommend it. I really enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing all of my makes and content. 🥰
Love to see you back Sherrie. I really like the t shirt you’re wearing- such fun colours. Colour brain, and Muffin time are our favourite games at the moment. Great for the whole family too and me and Mr B like the EXIT games ( they are escape room ones). I’d love to see your allotment progress, and bees always seem to love purple flowers, we have some leeks that have bolted and they have big purple Pom Pom flowers and they are always covered in bees. So nice to see. Sending love to u and hope you enjoy your summer holidays x
Thank you for another great podcast! My favorite games right now are Sushi Go! (card game) and Ticket to Ride (board game). We just got the Europe edition for Ticket to Ride, and I'm excited to play it!
First time viewer and I really enjoyed your podcast and all your colorful projects! -Love your shirt! I was really doubting to get it at the tour but eventually didn't, however I maybe should have seeing how fun it is on you -And yes I have been knitting my hair in almost all my projects I think 😂 -A tip for twisting the hank, you can 'break' it on your knee, way easier than on you elbow -Game tips: We love Ligretto for a short and fast game and we like El Dorado for a board game There was probably more I wanted to answer on but that will be for a next one . Have an amazing summer ❤ Much love, Fem
Thank you 💕✨ aww I love wearing it and I'm a sucker for a concert t-shirt. I was drawn to the happy colourful vibe! Ha ha, my hair is everywhere! I really need to perfect my twisting technique 😆 Thanks for the games suggestions - I have not heard of them so will check them out. Thanks again for your lovely comment 🥰💕
I’m hoping to share more as and when we make progress. Sadly we’ve not been down for a while as the weather has been either too hot or too wet! Hopefully soon though 🤞💖
Great to catch up with you 👍 yes my hair is moulting 😤 feels like I won’t have any left 😩 that artichoke flower is so beautiful Thanks for the heads up on Seven husbands put it on my wish list 👍 Have a good summer holidays with the family see you next time 😎
from a 20g mini i can get a 15 round cuff, fish lips kiss heel and a toe for 2 socks. i use a 64 stitch CO and 2 mm needles. i am a fairly loose knitter. with trying to see how a particular yarn will knit up, if it's a commercial one or from a larger indie dyer, if you search the yarn on ravelry and then click into colourways and then click on the colourway you want, you can see projects that other people have knitted with the yarn. i find that is often a good way to see how a colour will look like knitted up in various projects.
Oh yes!!! I had forgotten that trick of searching a yarn to see if someone else has used it in a project. Thank you for reminding me and wow that's great you can get quite a bit out of a 20g mini 💕
Lovely podcast ❤. I am on a doily roll…I can’t stop crocheting them . I loved the audiobook you talked about. I just finished In a dark dark woods by Ruth Ware. I love her books.
Thank you, Ohhh I will add that one to my Goodreads list. I forgot to mention a book which I had read on my kindle in my new episode! It was also by Ruth Ware- The Death Of Mrs Westaway 💕
So lovely to see another episode, Sherrie :) I'm knitting a summer top, I'm making the Venetian Tank by Sari Nordlund. I love all the colorful socks you're making! I always have a bunch of socks on the needles - I cast on patterned socks and then just let them sit while I make plain socks lol.
Thank you for your kind comment ✨ your sock wips definitely sound like mine 😆 I'm actually surprised for once to only have 1 on the go and even they're 2AAT. How's your tank top? Have you finished it, I just looked it up, gorgeous pattern 🧶💕
Such a lovely podcast Sherrie 🥰 I think the popcorn dollie you weren’t too sure about is featured in the book “Mandalas to crochet” by Haafner Linssen. I don’t have that book anymore but I do recognise it! x
Thank you 🥰 Yes I remember that book you mentioned, I went to the library to have a look through it and it wasn’t in there so I went searching on my IG feed and found out it’s by Emma Lamb 💖
I enjoy playing Uno card game. We are going to grow vegetables this year, usually just do tomatoes and a few herbs, to save money and have chemical free food. I like audiobooks on RU-vid, especially on a Saturday while doing laundry, cleaning and meal prep for the week. Listening to the Hamish McBeth series at present. I just finished my first shawl. It is crocheted in wool and like a wearable blanket. It is winter here in Melbourne Australia. 🇦🇺🌧️
Yes, we love Uno. How exciting, growing vegetables and salad is so much fun! I am lucky my tomato bushes are still producing. We are just stepping into Autumn and I am so excited 🍂🍁🍄 Your crochet shawl sounds so cosy 💕
Just had a new baby and I am not regretting my new Kindle purchase either! You make me want to get into socks so badly, they're all beautiful. And my husband is a complete board game nerd and my favorite so far has been Wingspan!
CONGRATULATIONS on your wonderful news 💕 my Kindle has been such a treat, especially when I have gone to bed and I can adjust the warmth/brightness. Oh and I haven't heard of that game - I'll check it out 💕✨
What a lovely episode, on the flashing and pooling front with the yarn there really is no way of telling depending on your project, even that bird street yarn, you know it would microstripe in a sock, but if you were using it in a sweater it could just as easily pool! All depends on the size of the thing your knitting and the gauge! Can’t wait to see the allotment!
Thank you Laura 💖 sorry for late reply! It’s so tricky with the yarns isn’t it? I guess that’s what makes them all so unique. Thank you - I will definitely be sharing about the allotment once we’ve made some more progress 💖
Have knitted along with you today and really enjoyed it. I think KnittyNatty’s latest podcast talks about how much you can get out of mini skeins for her “ Sockweek”. Also definitely worth growing Artichokes, easy to cook and the kids love pulling off the leaves to munch one by one. I think it is in the thistle family. Enjoy your plot of land, congratulations!
your yarn choices are all so lovely! especially like your heel toe do si do yarn. i've got 3 socks on the go at the moment. 1 vanilla sock, 1 of stephen west's surprise sockalong and another cable sock.
It was so very nice to catch up with you! Do you have any information about the lovely blanket behind you on your sofa? I’d love to hear about it! Thanks!
Lovely podcast Sherrie. Tbh was a bit freaked out because we’re reading the same books, watching the same telly and I just said to my husband this morning that I’m away to look up growing artichokes in my polytunnel!!! 🤯🫣 I also have a LOT of socks wipes! 😂
Lovely episode. I set myself the challenge of learning to knit socks this year, I seem to fail every time and have to undo it all. V frustrating! Anyway, watch What Vivi Did Next, she has an allotment in London and her videos are wonderful.
Oh no, yes very frustrating!! Keep at it, what pattern/tutorial are you following? Thank you I will check her channel out, watching Allotment videos on YT is my new thing - I love it 😂💖
Lovely podcast Sherrie ,your allotment sounds fun . I was admiring your beautiful crochet blanket on your sofa ,What is the pattern please ? Do you make it by squares ? Maybe you can talk about it next time . xx
Thank you 🥰 sorry for the late reply. It's called the Cedar River Blanket, sadly I don't think it's available anymore. I chat about it in my latest episode 💕
Checked your Ravelry page but didn’t see the crochet blanket from the back of your couch.. I would love to know what pattern you used.?.?. It’s lovely, love the colors!! 😍
Sorry for the late reply, it's an old pattern and sadly I can't seem to find it available now. It's called the Cedar River blanket, I made it as part of a CAL, I chat more about it in my latest episode 💕

Thank you for your game recommendations, I definitely think my family would enjoy the Ticket to Ride game, quite a few people have suggested the same game so it's a popular one! 💕
I keep on looking at the blanket that’s hanging over the sofa, it’s so beautiful! Is looks crochet C2C? If you made it, I would love to know the pattern. So relaxing to listen to you while I work on my Cropped Summer Cardi by Sass&Stitch crochet 😊 And yes to all the gardening videos! The bees were so cute 🥰
Hey, sorry for the late reply! Yes, it's a C2C blanket, pattern name Cedar River. It was a CAL many years ago and sadly it doesn't seem like you can get the pattern anymore now. I chat about it in my latest episode 💕
@@OllieandBella so sweet of you to still answer! I watched your most recent podcast and found out about it. It’s a shame the pattern isn’t available anymore, but I might come across something like it at some point. It’s really beautiful!
Lovely yo see you!!! I alternate between magic loop and circulars. My tension is alot tighter with 9incirculars so I prefer to use them. Cannot get the hang of dpns😀 The colour of your sweater is gorgeous. Do you find the postage costs high getting Homepsun yarn, ?? x
Sorry for the late reply! It's called the Cedar River Blanket, sadly I don't think the pattern is available anymore. I do chat about it in my latest episode and show it properly 💕
Hermoso podcast! Me gustaría q me enviara dónde puedo comprar el libro de Crochet , me encantan los proyectos que mostró ,saludos desde Costa Rica 🇨🇷 🎉
