In this episode of the Keep Trucking Personal Podcast, host Tyler Kivi welcomes James Rice, Permit Technician at Kivi Bros. Trucking, from our Harrodsburg, Kentucky office. James shares insights from his 23 years of military service, where he gained experience in logistics, transportation, and even permitting during deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. He compares his experiences in military logistics to the challenges of planning and permitting heavy haul equipment today.
They dive deep into the complexities of permitting, from verifying load dimensions and ensuring safety compliance, to navigating the balance between pre-ordering permits and waiting until a load is finalized. James also highlights some of the common pitfalls that can delay or complicate the permitting process, offering practical advice to both new and seasoned drivers.
Additionally, James offers a personal glimpse into growing up in Kentucky, his love for the state's natural beauty, and the highlights of visiting Bourbon distilleries. He also shares his impressions of Duluth, Minnesota, where he recently visited Kivi Bros. Trucking’s headquarters. This episode is a must-listen for anyone involved in logistics, trucking, or interested in the behind-the-scenes processes that keep goods moving safely and efficiently.
