Kelly slater is a legend! I gave up golf after been offered to go pro at 17, surfing was my passion but we were classed as bludgers back in the 80's.. 30 years later and I'm swinging the club again and loving it, not quite hitting as far as I did when I was a junior but still down the middle... making the most of the short time we have here now days hitting greens and throwing down back hand reo's the love of golf/surfing Cheers from NZ 🤙

Kelly is still the goat. As someone who is the same age, to hear him talk of still being challenged and pushing himself in whatever endeavours, to be better at 60 than 50, speaks volumes of the man and his competitive spirit, and yet you felt zen in his presence. Great show Iona, keep them coming.

Looks like I'm late to the party! Loved that Kelly expressed how he thinks about the mechanics of things in golf and surfing! Then you hit one out of the park when you said you wished someone told you some of the basics 10 years ago! In my old age I find myself saying the same thing! If someone had shown me some of the basics when I started I would have been great! There are about 4 basics (that most golfers never learn or understand) that I finally figured out way too late! One of the things I finally figured out after 20 years that is essential to playing good golf! After I eventually accidentally figured it out I was amazed how simple a concept it was and how I missed the evidence of the issue that should have been easy to see! Players need to understand the swing to be able to play good golf ⛳! Can't think it.. can't do it!

I'm a huge Kelly fan and I think this might be the best long interview I've seen with him. Kelly is such a deep thinker and I hate hearing him in an interview and the interviewer doesn't dive deep with him. (e.g. Joe Rogan Podcast episode) I hope after Kelly slows down on the tour and has more time he does more long form interviews. Thanks for this episode with Kelly and great job getting him to dive deep into conversation with you!

Grew up in the midwest idolizing Andy Irons and Kelly Slater, strange I know - but its the truth. I knew Andy was into golf prior to his death, but we got to follow Kelly last year at the Ryder Cup and it made the whole trip.

Oh man. This is exactly what we needed. 🐐

pure class in all his walks of life. what a wonderful human being. even recognizing his misfortuned moments. that´s when you realise that he´s just human too. how good I always feel when someone gets to make Kelly open up like this. such a warm and depth hearted gentleman. one can sense how deep into therapy he went through. i mean, he´s so sharp and eager to understand himself and the world surrounding. make no mistake, he´s a wild and ferocious athlete too! how lucky are we to get the chance to walk the earth at the same time he´s doing it. thank you.
