I like the way Charles appreciates sports he didn’t grow up playing. He champions and respects hockey and golf, and probably others as well. A true and respectful athlete.
Unbelievable accomplishments for Charles, and he needed a teacher like Stan - perfect description saying he is like Harvey Penick - they are "Golf Whispers"
I so love Charles. What a great guest, great host, great person. It is so wonderful he has embraced golf and now drives it further than most of us. Keep on keeping on Charles!
Chuck said he had both of his hips replaced. Much of his former problems were probably due to his old hip joints being stiff and probably painful. That had to have killed his flow. But even with new hips, he is employing better technique now, and Stan has really helped him with that. This is a very informative video, but it is also very enjoyable to see a guy that most of us think of as a friend we've never actually met, finally find success at an activity that we all enjoy so much.
I've been playing for 3 years now. I consider myself pretty athletic for 53 and have a long way to go but understanding the "fling" is key. I like what Stan said about the hands vs wrist lever. Such a key moment for me to realize on my own and a game changer for a beginner when improving distance with irons.
I’m 53 and just started the game…good athleticism in other sports but so new and so frustrated so far 😂 learning that those other skills might not be directly transferable. Charles is an inspiration to me in this arena. He gives me hope!
Way to go Charles, you've got the respect of a multitude of golfers. Your fortitude to stick with something, and stand tall while the troubles were going on in that swing of yours, are to be admired. Your swing is fantastic now.
I enjoyed watching this video. It's great to see Chuck being able to truly have fun playing golf (again). I don't think people really understand how bad it is to fix the yips or a very broken swing. The amount of time he had to put in and the level of mental fortitude needed to push through the jokes, frustration, and bad shots is commendable.
Swing the clubhead end fast not the handle end, golden advice! So in the downswing after you shift your pressure into your left foot the clubhead is the furthest behind and needs to travel the farthest. You get the clubhead to catchup with your arms and your body by releasing it early. The clubhead traveling faster than the butt as the club passes you at the bottom so the club head leads the club after impact and the club turns your body past square not your body turn towing the club behind the body. The club swinging past turns you so much easier in both directions as opposed to trying to turn your body fast to swing the club.
Great job by Stan on just simply getting the clubface more square in the downswing and not changing that backswing all that much. Looks very much like Craig Stadler. Made it functional enough to play
What a great video! Simple concepts with awesome results! Good thing Chuck said he’s not going to LIV, there were speculations out there. Glad he cleared it up
This episode was awesome to view my first video I've watched on ur golf digest channel loved it Charles and Stan there chemistry and the coaching tips he gives and to watch Charles excel at golf and correct his swing it was a joy to watch
11:05 Thanks so much. I had this bad shot with irons and I never knew what the reason was. I usually hit a draw but occasionally I would catch a ball very thin and it would go very right. I never knew what the reason was and I couldn't find any resources on it but this makes a lot of sense. I also had issues with the release on driver but I managed to fix that but I guess it never transferred to my iron play. Something to practice next time on the range.
Hit down to make it go up? That's closely related to "you have to take a divot to compress it correctly. Love all the catch phrases in this game. Tremendous transformation Chuck & Stan. Good video.
I couldn't of clicked this video any faster. Chuck i love ya man but you give us all hope on the course 😂😂😂my grandmother with a walker said "if chuck can do it. i can do it." Ping helped my swing too don't worry you not alone chuck. Us tall people got it rough 😂😂😂
Great swing Charles!! Nice sound, not trying to kill it and nice trajectory!! And the CONFIDENCE is now there!! Plus love you on any and all Podcasts whether this one, Club Shay Shay, etc, etc!! Compared to watching you on those NBC shows at Lake Tahoe Golf, you are NIGHT AND DAY!! Those pushes and pulls are playable to get up and down. Bryson DeChambeau wasn't hitting the straight down the fairway drives but he was in position to get up and down!
