This week we look around North Shields, Dave gets a hair cut, and we leave Royal Quays in a slight westerly wind, that turns into a force 7 gale by the time we arrive in Amble.

I really think I would have turned around and went back to the marina. Looked like a great day to sit on the boat and drink beer.

When it got bad we were 3/4 of the way there, and whilst the side on swell was uncomfortable the conditions were ok, it wasn't until the last few miles it really got up. Locals say they have localised weather systems. If I'd have known we would have stayed put. But then we wouldn't have learned what the boat can cope with.

Great video, bought back some good memories of Amble for me, its funny how you can never film how rough the sea's are, but you can see it on how the boat is moving about, many thanks for posting

Yes either your drownd out by the wind, or your trying to portray to others who may not understand how rough it can be, and when you look at the film it looks easy. Ha ha. Thanks for your comment. We loved Amble.

Why do you take all the covers off and fold the bimini back back and then sit in all the weather getting drenched, you may find in choppy seas it's better to put the boat up on the plain, you will burn more fuel but the ride will be better, thanks for the videos

We do it to reduce the windage. We don't mind been out in the open. When on the plain in the type of sea we get on our East coast we find we slam, and then do damage inside, so have found running slower gives a more comfortable ride. However we did find an issue during the trip, she wouldn't go on the plain even at max rpm. We are due to be lifted as we think we have some fouling.
