The ability some of you have to misrepresent what I say is quite remarkable. For those who want to insist I hate Tua, the deal is it’s stuff like that I hate. Pay attention to what I’m saying instead of immediately recoiling and getting ready to strike back. This has been a public service announcement.

@@alldolphinspodcast Biggest Fins (and alldolphins) fan in Japan here, and you know I’ve been following since episode 1. Unfortunately, everyone these days exaggerates and crudely paraphrases each other - just look at your politicians. (See, even I did it by saying “everyone”) From top to bottom, it’s all about extremes. Everything is an overreaction! People are going to misquote you - it’s just the nature of society these days - I’m afraid almost no one is going to quote you verbatim. I know it’s a HUGE pet peeve for you, but I hope you try not to get too upset over it. I know you try to be as accurate as possible, but just look around at your peers in sports media and you will see clickbait and other questionable things all over the place, so it’s not just listeners and fans that promulgate this kind of communication. At the same time, as a trained family therapist, I can tell you that - according to some experts - verbal communication is only 7% of our communication and non-verbal (body language, vocal cues, eye contact) is 93%. So it is inevitable that people are going to read messages (accurately or inaccurately) that you are sending, whether you verbally said it or not, and they are going to take a quote like, “I’m not sure about Tua” as “Tua is trash” because that’s how they interpreted the entirety of your message, non-verbal included - again, accurately or inaccurately. So maybe you didn’t say it in words, but you did “say” it, at least by perception. As a media figure, it’s sadly impossible to expect all of your listeners to just “get better” at listening to you, so the only plausible suggestion is for you to perhaps be more conscious of your own communication habits. And I know none of the other commenters are going to care to read this, but I believe that you are the kind of man who is fine with a wall of text and details, Poup. Love the show with Perk, and I also enjoy hearing from Dave Hyde - keep it coming!

Wait! Poupart at 12:45 uses "the numbers" to support his opinion that Tua has not improved from year to year HOWEVER, at 24:10 he critical of ESPN for using "the numbers" to conclude why Tua should be among the highest paid QBs. So it's okay for Poup to use Tua's stats but not okay for anyone else to use Tua's stats if it goes against Poupart's narrative?!? 😂

Love you Poup and Perk! Watch you all the time and makes me happy as fans we can all have this dialogue. I’m happy for Tua and his family. I know most of the fan base is as well. I’m gonna be honest, and I know Tua knows this to… No matter what, people are always gonna doubt. If Tua wins a Super Bowl for us(in my heart it’s WHEN he does. And actually it’s when THEY do, cause it’s a team thing from top to bottom) Still gonna say he’s not good enough. Still gonna question him. Let me just say this…I’ve been a dolphins fan almost the same amount of time Tua’s been on this earth. I’m over the moon ecstatic he’s our quarterback. Looking at the totality of years I’ve been a fan (since end of Marino era) this is the closest we’ve been to a superbowl. Since McDaniels came in, consistency is what I see. We’re winning games. We’re right there at the end. They’ve built a monster, and the world will see the Leviathan they have built! The chess game that is being played will be a masterpiece. I think the piece we put into play this offseason that is being overlooked is Calais. he will be clutch for us when it comes time to dig deep and go to the place that only champions go to. so team. Tua. McDaniel. All of them! New name this year,..Miami Leviathans! The creature that no one expects, and no one will be able to stop! (Unless you’re fortified in a very cold place in the middle of the continent…just kidding, we got them!) Tua…you will lead us there with the help of everyone! Including the fan base! Let’s fucken goooooooooo!! Phins all the way up!!!

(think it's really clear that Tua improved a lot from 2 years ago to last year. They were winning games with him 2 years ago and the numbers were good when he was healthy, but the biggest knock on him was that he was underthrowing wide open WRs on deep throws. Last year he was hitting them in stride. His deep ball improved monumentally from year to year. I'm not sure if you can find this in the stats but just watching all the games from both seasons makes it obvious. Everything is not about stats. And if you want to look at stats and ignore anything else then I guess you have to admit that Tua was the best QB in the league last year (which I know is not true but it's what the stats say)

Thanks, Poupart for this video! Not to be "that guy", but this is what I really enjoy/makes for an enjoyable stream, for this viewer. Zero banter, back and forth, arguing, that just sounds like noise. Two professionals, giving us solid news, facts, digging deep and working together. Could not stand Omar Kelly constantly interrupting you, then going on this long-winded explanations when he could have made his point in 15 seconds or less. Then the constant, what I call "sitcom faces" that Omar makes when you make a point, as if what you are saying, is way out of left field. Let you explain your point, digest it, then respond. I know you think out of the box, Poupart, are objective and factual, and I wish, Omar would give you your space. Anyway, just wanted to say, appreciate that you had Perk on for this segment. Personally, I like the contract... it's shorter so that means a quicker out in case things really go sideways, and it's competitive to the top 10 QB which Tua can make an argument in belonging to without resetting the market. $53mil a year is a LOT better than $57mil a year. That's almost 2 minimum veteran contracts right there. Tua also wins because if he does ball out to the point where he silences even the goal post movers, he can get himself another really high extension since he'll still be in his prime when this one expires.
@roguebossa
@roguebossa 2 месяца назад
I think it's good all around, numbers, length of contract, and I thought it was timely. One reason I think it didn't get done earlier was Miami had to make important final roster moves and wanted to get that squared away so they could focus on this.

I love Poup. But Poup’s position on Tua is, and always has been, crystal clear. 1. Poup: The pass today wasn’t Tua, it was Tyreek being so open. 2. Perk “What took Dolphins so long”, Poup: “Or, couldn’t it have been ‘what took Tua so long to agree?’ 3. Perk: “Tua won.” Poup: “Uh…No.” 4. Perk: “Tua never wanted to be top highest paid.” Poup: making all kinds of faces, ie, “Oh you know Tua’s greedy.” 5. Poup: Tua definitely did not improve as a player last year, let me share again the research that I spent HOURS accumulating solely to prove to people that he didn’t improve. And that’s just in the first 5 minutes or so. 😂 Every episode is the same. And I’m not sure Tua’s the answer either - I was kinda done with him with how he finished last season. So I don’t really care either way about the contract. I’m just bothered that Poup continually says he doesn’t dislike Tua, etc. when it is abundantly clear that he doesn’t like Tua (as a player, of course.). Poup can deny it all he wants, he can get into squabbles with fans in the comments and use the “don’t put words in my mouth, I never said (insert here)” and try to bully fans who call him out, but the body language, the tone of voice, the perpetual “now hold on” when Tua gets praise, and the list goes on. Just like you guys wanna say about QBs, “it’s the eye test, after 4 years, I know who that guy is,” I think us fans can say the same thing, “After 317 episodes, I know who that guy is, I can see how he feels about Tua (eye test).” I’d rather you just be honest (or stop being in denial?). It’d be a far better listen. If you’re just trying to appease TuAnon, it’s not working cause you still try to paint Tua in a negative light 90% of the time. Just be honest. But then, you’ve spent 4 years telling us that you don’t dislike Tua and you’re so dug in, I do suppose it’s nearly impossible to change now, just because a fan in the comments told you to. 😂 Still your biggest fan in Japan!❤

Tua makes more than Trevor. Trevor is around 41. Tua is around 47 Id agree with Poup im not a herbert fan but hes had 2 coaches 1 bad imo 1close to average. He still deserves a window. Same with Tua. But with Tua personally i think he is farther along in the evaluation. I say that because Tuas played in what 3-5 different schemes and he has a winning record in the different schemes when he played. So to me that should elevate the elvaution alot especially once you see what hes done with a OC who is clearly better than the previous options in most areas. Tuas case IMO is just sooo unique.

Alain Poupart prides himself on trying to be right on everything he says and apparently has a very difficult time when he doesn’t get it right. He wants to be so RIGHT that the Dolphins made a bad choice of drafting Tua instead of Herbert that he tries to minimizes everything that Tua does well and is always looking for any faults or shortfalls of Tua to support his case. It’s been four years of you trying to prove your case. Let it go Alain, you’ll be a happier man.

@@alldolphinspodcast Seriously Alain, why is it that you are always trying to minimize any good that Tua has done by looking for some other reason why he doesn’t deserve the amount of credit he receives i.e. it’s Tyreek, McDaniel, the system, the players around him? Couldn’t even give him credit for that pass to Tyreek yesterday inferring that the play may have been staged and that anyone could have made that throw with no one within 15 yards of Tyreek. Look at the comments, so many of us see it the same. Please help us understand. Respectfully written for your response.🙏

Tua's numbers against average and bad defenses is very good and he has more weapons than almost all QB's. His numbers and W-L record against good defenses and playoff teams is not good. There are fan site content creators who reinforce what you want to hear and there are veteran media correspondents/ professional journalists whose job is to report the facts and provide an objective take on what they are seeing. Poup and Perk are the latter obviously, but much appreciate that more than gloss over reality, don't break glass viewer aggregators...these guys are pro's.

@@Guy117 I appreciate your reply and more importantly how you were able to express your objections without being rude about it. To answer, I have given Tua crédit plenty of times but I push back against overblown praise, such as going crazy over a bomb on the third day of camp, especially when Tyreek is wide open. And do you really think it’s pure coincidence or that Tua’s first play of camp on 11-on-11’s had Tyreek running a double move and going deep? I’m just not sure it’s a play that’s really that significant when you consider the circumstances.
@Guy117
@Guy117 2 месяца назад
@@alldolphinspodcast Thanks for your response, Alain. You are correct that yesterday’s play was not significant, I just used it as an example to try and get my point across. I can understand the “push back” when you think his praise is being overblown but it seems like you are constantly pushing back even when he does actually deserve some credit. This constant push back is what me and many others may feel like you’re hating on kid which I know is not the case as you have mentioned many a times on how you respect him. From now on, I won’t take your “push back “ as hating and ask ask the same of you, take my comments as “push back” as opposed to hating.😂. All seriousness, I really enjoy listening to your podcast even though we may differ in opinions. You have a wealth of knowledge especially on the historical stuff, amazed on how you can remember dates, plays, stats,draft picks etc. Will continue to watch and support your channel and will try and be more respectful in my push back. HOW ABOUT ALL THE OTHER POSITION GROUPS DO THEIR JOB. He’s not the only person on the team. What about the coach just getting the plays in on time? How many games did that really cost them???? Every other team in the league surrounds their QB with talent that is adequate. Do the same and things will be fine.!!!!!
