My dad bought Rolleicord camera in 1950s. After my dad passed away in 2010 my siblings decided that I was the one who deserved the most to keep it. Yay! I'm 57 years old and the camera was bought years before I was born. Last time I used that camera was when I was 14 years old. It is like almost brand new. Wouldn't sell it for million dollars. I want it to become our family heirloom, will pass it on to one of my kids before I get too old.

I just bought one of these! It's really neat that you can take the back all the way off.

Thanks for providing an actual review instead of "This is a TLR, it has two lenses, a taking lens and a viewing lens. It's a medium format camera, so you don't have to rewind the film." Good info about the viewfinder etc.

Hi ! I replaced my focus screen with a Rick Oleson one on my Rolleicord 6 and it's NIGHT AND DAY ! You should do it if it's not done already :) Nice review, might get the V now :)

Thank you so much!! I was just gifted my Great-Grandfather's Rolleicord V and I was utterly clueless on its anatomy and how to use it. This video was incredibly helpful.

Love this! I just got my hands on my dad’s old Rolleicord that he bought used back in 1958! He told me he paid $5 for it…. Haha! I took it to a shop a couple days ago, and they told me it’s in great shape and was clearly well taken care of (not surprising, knowing my father). He even has his old enlarger, which I bet still works too! I’m excited to start shooting with it!

The knob on the right covering the red dot is the double exposure prevention!

Beautiful camera. I have the Rolleicord III (K3B) from 1953. Not quite as nice as yours, but a lot of fun. I love the old way of doing photography. Digital is "ok", but not as much joy for me as film.

The Yashica 124 Mat G has a place in my heart as I have sold at least 3 in the past! The TLR camera systems are one of those cameras that just amazing to shoot with with the leaf shutter capabilities that allow for low shutter speeds that for me, make for some low light photography. Great job Wes!

Nice video. You might be surprised about the Rolleiflex 2,8. After trying about 5 various models of the Rolleiflex 2,8, over the years, I’ve decided the Rolleicord V is my favorite. I’m extremely right handed and the Rolleiflex models focus on the left hand side. The f/2.8 models are notably heavier. As I’ve gotten older, the camera sizes really make a difference. Having a lightweight camera that’s easy to hide if you choose, is very nice. Either way you can’t go wrong with a Rolleiflex (unless you’re trying to shoot action sports). Haha

Incredibly clean camera, at least as far as I can tell in your video. I just bought one and it hasn't arrived yet, so I am keeping my fingers crossed it is close to yours in condition.

Good job, this is my daily driver as well, I did a comparison comoared to the Flex on my channel 2 yrs ago. I prefer its lightness and simplicity compared to the flex also

I don't know how about now but the great substitute for native viewfinder screen (which is for sure terribly dark) is from Mamiya RB\RZ 67. It's made from plastic so no issues to cut it a bit to fix the Rollei's mount. I did that way for my Vb and was extremely happy with results for the budget. I bought my Mamiya screen 5 years ago on ebay for 20$ or something. And there was no better deal. Another great option is Rick Oleson screens. 80$ is still great price if you have a bigger budget ;) Thanks for review !

In this case, "V" is not a letter, it's the Roman numeral meaning "5". Its predecessor was called Rolleicord IV. :)

I have ‘cord 5 and a ‘flex, as far as the winding goes I like the knob better.

The Rolleicord is made as well as the Rolleiflex, but it omits several convenience features which saves a lot of money in the price. The trade up from a 124G is s huge leap in mechanical and optical quality. I once .looked at buying an even newer version of the Rolleicord at a swap meet. The seller took off to get food, leaving to play with the camera for 20 minutes. Unhappily, while he was gone I figured out that he had concealed damage on the otherwise mint camera - no sale.

Great video! We have chatted - I have the Rolleicord Vb and the Rolleiflex 3.5F -- I swear that the Rolleicord takes sharper photos -- will need to do some comparison - Also appreciated your Rollei 35 video (just sent mine off to VanCam for shutter service...) updates as they come in!

Nice review, a couple of tips, the sports view finder is very handy if you do night photography, I did not see any of your pictures were taken with the lens fully open (f3.5) so I would really think about going for that Rolleiflex f2.8. Fot the (not even) full stop you get a camera which is MUCH heavier, it may not seem that way when you pick it up but you will certainly notice it after a day of shooting, the Rolleicord 3.5 is an amazing camera, dont wish for more!

hello, nice presentation. I fell into the world of film (what happiness compared to digital) with a yashica A. I love this device, the TLRs have a crazy charm and the chest sight changes everything. I would like to change to a more sophisticated TLR and the roleicord V is magnificent, can you tell me exactly all the shutter speeds? the yashica A has very little speed (bulb, 1/25, 1/50, 1/100 1/300) and limits the choice of exposures. THANKS

I wish mine would cock the shutter when I advance the film. I wish my frames wouldn't overlap. Oh well.

Yeah I just turned out to be kind of a boring Camera. I wanted to like it in the image quality was just fine but it felt just a bit too modern for my liking.

Hello my friend, that's a beautiful camera for sure. But I noticed that looks like you are getting a problem in the shutter when you cook. Or is just a sound that makes? Cheers

I have both. the yashica 124G and the Rolleicord V. And I totally agree. The viewing lese in the Rolleicord is much much darker. I really think I sell the Rolleicord.
@natanaelbenino498
@natanaelbenino498 3 года назад
how about the image they produce? is rolleicord create better image than yashica?
@NeubauerMM
@NeubauerMM 3 года назад
@@natanaelbenino498 no. Here is my theory. because of the darker WLVF and my bad eyesight. I have more slightly unsharp pictures. I think it is me not the lense. All other pictures are equally (very) good quality!
