On two scorching hot days in June Tales From The Swan’s Neck took a short detour from The Llangollen, and took narrowboat Reverie down the remaining navigable stretch of the Prees Branch. Why not come along for the cruise…?

Zella and I watched this morning. Lovely trip. We have about five inches of snow. Tried making a snowman but the snow was just barely too dry. Thanks for taking us along.

@@talesfromtheswansneck Well, I grew up in state of Pennsylvania. There it might snow three feet Over night and two weeks later it would be gone and then another storm would come.. here it comes mostly in small amounts but the snow we have now will still be here until mid April. I like it better though I would not miss having -40. That is annoyingly cold. Oh. -40C is the same as -40F. Bloody awful cold!

'annoyingly cold', you are the master of understatement! I've experienced -19 here in the UK for 3 days and despite the initial excitement, that was bloody awful. But I guess your houses are geared up for that kind of onslaught

@@talesfromtheswansneck Very few houses handle -40 that well. The worst is if it comes before there’s much snow on the ground. Septic systems freeze up then. Frost gets down to about 4 feet by spring. Ice in lakes can get 4 feet of ice but usually with normal snow fall to insulate the ice will be about 2 feet. Our home is pretty smal so it’s easier to heat.

Hi Andrew Beautiful vlog. You refer to Armco which implies some sort of crash resistance which sheet metal piling is not really designed for. The horizontal element is correctly called waling. Keep up the good work. Jeff

It's a tug deck. The tugs had a bow like that. Some of them today have a double bed under them!

I love the way those fish were dancing to your music. They clearly have a sense of rhythm. I did enjoy the cruise, but I also enjoy your chitchat. How strange to see solar panels on the side of a boat. Beautiful cruise, thank you.

Hi Willa, I'm pleased you like my chit chat, thanks. And yes I thought about the solar panels, but I have seen two or three boats with panels on the side. I've even seen one boat which was literally covered on both sides and the roof with panels, which just seemed a bit weird to me - oh, and I don't think it was used for propulsion either.

Nice vlog. In Sweden the yellow water lilly is considered to be an invasive specie, apparently it closes out much more light than the native ones. Taking about invasive species, those white tall flowers ca 8 min. in, Heracleum mantegazzianum, is a really nasty invasive plant.

Interesting. The Llangollen is the only canal I've seen water lilies on. We have a particular problem with Japanese Balsam in the UK, it's getting everywhere!

@@talesfromtheswansneck I guess that that is Reynoutria japonica. We are starting to get large problem with that here in Sweden to. It is growing at at least two places around were I live.

I filmed a lot of stuff on the way up the Llangollen, and the intention was to upload it on the return trip rather than filming the same route in reverse, so there'll be more to come. But isn't it nice to see those hot sunny days?
