I am a new subscriber; I'm sold! I was having so much trouble doing a basic Tasmota -> Mosquitto test. The problem was that I was subscribing to the wrong name. In your video, when you showed how to copy the topic name from the Console of Tasmota, the light went on (so to speak). I now have my test setup working, where node-read and command line subscriptions show the activity and status updates from a D1-Mini running Tasmota. Thanks so much. I will go back and watch more of your videos now. So many RU-vidrs aren't good teachers despite their best intentions. Your explanations look clear and well thought out.
After going through hundreds of videos.. this is the one that finally explained to me how to get a message from a MQTT client (im using mqtt explorer) to a tazmotized Wemos mini... Thank you for this...
I wanted to learn MQTT and have been looking for a good tutor, but have not found one until now, you just made it sound so easy and with no music just plan and simple at a good speed that is easy to follow and understand and at the age of 75 your explanation and dictation was just what I was looking for so thank you so much I have joined your channel and look forward to more videos all the best Bob in the UK
Hi Mark, I know this is an old video, but it has been the most comprehensive for me. I have been trying to wrap my head around MQTT and Tasmota for over a year and my head is about to explode. I have 2 Feit color bulbs that I got at Costco. I reflashed them with Tasmota. i am trying to get them to work with OpenHAB 3. You have given me a solid platform to try again. Most of the other videos out there are confusing and don't really explain or demonstrate topic construction. than you for your help. I am rather excited to get home and try this on one of my bulbs. Hello @Mark, can you make a video where you explain in more details how "publish: cmnd" is working. Is device looking at MQTT broker address and from there it reads command and how often device reads info on MQTT broker and can we change interval and where or if MQTT broker push info into device it self?
