Travis, This is a(nother) great video from you! Some YT videos grow stale/outdated over time when additional functionality is introduced to Tasmota. Thank you for the video, I have used Sonoff S2 before, but the cable connections are very poor so you have to fit it in a secure box with proper cable glands to make it childproof, so I am going to make my own with ESP8266-01 module plus relay plus 220v to 5 volt converter and 5volt to 3.3 volt supply, then I can use a secure box with glands, I know you love HA but for me, it is overkill as I only want to switch lights on off or on and only about 10 switches will do, so my question is can I just use Tasmota with my phone or tablet to control my lights? Any help would be good thanks Bob in the UK

With the web flasher, you do not need to select a ESP32 binary, if you just select "Tasmota", it will automatically detect ESP32 and use the appropriate tasmota32 binary.
@digiblurDIY
@digiblurDIY 2 года назад
No you do need to select which build of Tasmota you want. There are a few, Tasmota for ESP8266, Tasmota32 for ESP32, etc. Then there is also the newer ESP32 chips such as the Solo and C3.
@JohnnieHougaardNielsen
@JohnnieHougaardNielsen 2 года назад
@@digiblurDIY You cannot select if you want tasmota.bin or tasmota32.bin. The architecture is automatically detected, and you get the one to match. Like if you select the Spanish-language build, this will be tasmota-ES.bin or tasmota32-ES.bin, depending on your hardware. I'm very well aware of the details, and when you at all see "Tasmota32" in the long dropdown, it is for builds only existing for ESP32, or a few variations for ESP32 like C3. Otherwise, the dropdown would be much longer 😃

Good stuff Travis. I have been watching your videos for a long time and have learned a lot from you about tasmota, ,tasmota rules, flashing light switches and outlets and integrating everything into node red, thanks. But I want to do something a little different, I want to monitor limit switches on a CNC machine I am building and I would like to send their status through mqtt. I have a Esp8266 nodemcu programmed with tasmota and four GPIOs configured as switches and two as relays. The relays work fine through mqtt but operating the limit switches doesn’t send anything via mqtt. Any help would be greatly appreached, Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing you knowledge with the world
@digiblurDIY
@digiblurDIY 2 года назад
Sounds like an awesome project! So the switches should be independent of the relays(outputs) right? If you have them set as switches, use SetOption114 1 to decouple the switches from the relays. This will cause them fire off MQTT messags in JSON, you'll see it on the console. Don't forget to set your switchmode1 and switchmode2. There's also some ways to do this with rules as well. Let me know if you need more help with it.

Is there a single gang ceiling fan controller that can be flashed with tasmota? The ceiling fan in my bedroom is controlled by a slider switch (that does high, med, low and off) and the light on it is controlled by another separate switch. @@digiblurDIY i really appreciate you take your time to address the ppl who follow your work 👍 I'm using the integration and most of the device is added automatically. Apart from that, the documentation also indicates that custom sensors won't be added automatically (like it used to do in previous versions with the autodiscovery setoption19 1). A bit more context, I'm using a Sonoff SV with the current Tasmota firmware, also connected a read switch (binary switch) with the intention of controlling a garage door and the door open/close state. I have donde the necessary Tasmota settings to control both the relay and the read switch (GPIO14) independently and both post Independent MQTT messages to home assistant but i haven't found a video dumbed down enough to understand the yaml code and the MQTT binary sensor attributes and syntax to register the sensor as part of the same device but also as an independent entity so i can develop future automation based on the read switch state. I can always downgrade the Tasmota version and use autodiscovery but i really want to get into yaml so i can expand my capabilities with home assistant. Thanks again.

I don't understand why they don't sell a host hob with all the cloud functions so we don't have to depend on internet connection.

Arrrrhhhhhggg For the Love of God stop pronouncing 'solder' as 'soda'. Soda is a carbonated drink or a a sodium carbonate/bicarbonate, the clue is in the spelling - specifically in the 'L' Solder, like Soldier, but with a 'd' sound instead of 'j'. While I'm correcting pronunciation America...... the element with atomic number 13 is called Aluminium. You don't get to simply remove a syllable from a word just because you want to. It's al-you-min-E-um !

I definitely don't say soda. Rare I would ever say that. It's coke. Lol
