Yes!! I love Dr. Gary ❤ I'm so excited for this, ty Josh! Fascinating discussion! I could go on and on about the political changes in the 1960's, and the explosion of technology, media, liberalism, femininism and taking God out of everything in society to result in the very things you're talking about.

Very interesting, I lived through the 60s and understand what you are saying. But those who didn't live through it does not understand how much it changed everything.

The Viet Nam War was a huge influence on our culture in the 1960s. I was born in 1961, and on the TV as I grew up were the constant stories and images of war. It terrified me and I dreamed about war when I was a little girl. That had to affect both men who were there and came back from that violence, and those who were growing up hearing about the violence and at the same time watching women begin to reject social norms of dressing modestly, and other restrictions. It's interesting to me to hear Josh who was not born yet, not understand that America went through RADICAL change. How much do all of us not understand, due to our lack of historical experience?

So interessting, thank you! 🥰I´m born in the 60´s and agree with everything and there´s a lot to learn and search in the past to understand what we have become. My parents where World War II children and my mom was a very special mom. She was the most loving, caring mother one can ever have and I learned a lot from her, but she was troubled. I don´t know if PTSD was invented in the 70´s but she was a special mom. She was born 1935 and was 4 years old when all hell broke loose in Finland. The war was of course a trauma itself but what also happend during the war to the civilians was horrifying. Civilian Ruskies was sneaking around the forests in Finland. They always attacked early morning hours, put fire on the houses and waited for the Finns running out for their lifes but they ran into an inferno of bullets. I am so proud of my special mom and my grandparents - they saved their lives .. but their souls 😔 It is not for nothing Finns are called the "silent people". For the younger generations; There´s a strategy PC game about the village my mom was born - The Battle of Suomussalmi.

This was wonderfully thought provoking. I came away with more questions than answers. I love having something to dig into. This is the first time I have heard anyone insinuate that, like Manson, Kvorkian found away to get other people to satisfy his evil hunger under the guise of being "kind." Before I only knew he gave me the creeps. Now I know why.

The 60's were so important in social changes aka the civil rights movement for freedom/equality.11:00 minutes is a question something my mother & I ask each other. Why is society so much more violent & desensitized? Obviously a myriad of reasons & I'm hearing some. Can't wait to explore this subject.

Both of my uncle's had pretty high security clearances. One was the defense contractor/engineer and lived in Saudi for a good period of time. The other lived and died in Thailand. My point to that was I've heard contradicting things about Saudi ie. Like Sharia law. Understand Chris's point, but there's certain lines in the sand I wouldn't want to be standing across or facing

The sexual revolution is happening again but playing out differently now than 50 years ago but a very astute observation as I have a kid in college and it is all about protesting and also synonymous with was. My boyfriend fought in Vietnam and came home to US hating them when he sacrificed his life fighting for the country he felt at a very young age. I can see both sides even now. I feel this is an every other generation thing cyclically most likely. It too will pass I hope as the young adults mature. I appreciated your link into technology revolution as well as it makes a lot of sense because of AI and the internet and even medical advances etc. Women are not needed as many see it in a sense for reproduction and the youth think the world is overpopulated which is sad because there are many hugely large open spaces amd fertile land all over the world but most haven’t seen this and just live in cities and not extensively traveled and observed this for themselves and are going to cause a population collapse in the long run. War does bring babies also and other big world events. I personally feel that the internet has made everything available amd also media and tv has normalized everything more and more rapidly as time goes by. It has awakened sleeping monsters to a degree and like you said they bring it into real life and same with school shootings etc and violent video games dulling reality and the demise of the American family.

I would love for you 3 to do a podcast on the school shootings, Cruz, and the more recent one Crumbly. Tragic situations but a great conversation i think. I watched the trials and I am a paralegal. I feel like there was so many people that dropped the ball, school, therapist and family. I have been seeing an uptick in younger people commiting more mass shootings, like the recent one in the Philadelphia area. I bought your book and I love watching you all. Dr. Brucato really helps to explain the way these evil minds work. Chris and Josh you guys really give a great analysis of the topics and cases you cover.

I was born in 1960 and in the 60's most people went to church. Now very few people do so. I'm frankly surprised this podcast has not focused on the lack of religion as a key to the increasingly antisocial behavior we are seeing now.

From my point of view and experience of marriage/divorce to a narcissistic man who was born in 1952, and became deeply drawn into pornography around 2000. I think the internet changed sexual voyeurism this way; before the internet, if a man wanted to see nude women engaging in inappropriate photos and behaviors, they would have to go to the corner store or to a sex store IN PERSON, risking being seen by people they new, to buy magazines, videos, etc. AFTER the internet was widely used, they were able to indulge with no restriction or inhibition in porn, ANONYMOUSLY, without even leaving the privacy of their own office or other room.

As to Kevorkian, it’s easy for someone to say you just need to live until nature takes its course if you don’t live with excruciating pain. We put suffering animals out of their misery and though it very sad we realize death is the most merciful thing we can do. To Chris’ point about Saudi Arabian culture, let’s remember how women are treated in the Middle East. It is not some bright and shiny panacea. Evil exists in all cultures, in all places and in all faiths. Love this panel though and Dr. Brucato in particular is an amazing mind.

OMG! I forgot about the Boston strangler. I saw the movie and it scared me to death, I was pretty sheltered growing up. I was very young and married, and my husband was working nights for a few weeks after we saw that movie. Our apartment had this crazy garbage door, that you opened in the kitchen, locked with a little hook and eye, and the garbage man opened the little door on the outside and took your garbage. Well, the garbage area was large, you could easily crawl through it if you got locked out of your apartment, After that movie, I invented an elaborate, twisting and tying of ropes through multiple handles and pieces of furniture to keep anyone from crawling through that garbage door. 😮

Fascinating discussion, thank you gentlemen. Chris you said something about in Saudi they worked it out … I have to disagree with you on that … it’s fear of punishment not the desire to be a decent human being mostly … they don’t steal because authorities would cut their arms. There has to be balance I believe… with the love of God and wanting to be good not only for the fear of punishment. Of course the argument would be that it stops criminals but suffocation blurs the lines I think. To find the middle ground should be the aim I think. I’m Iranian and we have a rich culture… however after being taken over by religious fanatics morality in my opinion went out of window. As people are being treated like animals insulted by uneducated religious fanatics who are the worst of humanity themselves.

So you’re saying the influx of p0rnography into society lent itself to the uptick of objectification of women and crimes against women? You don’t say? 🧐 This is the exact and only reason that I’m staunchly against the consumption of p0rnography. Thanks for shedding light on this fact. 🙌🏼

The Kennedy assassination in 1963 ended the last vestiges of for lack of a better word, innocence and a tremendous freshness & hope. Then RFK, the Beatles coming to the US and the subsequent monumental explosion of rock music. Then came the summer of 1969 & the Manson murders, Woodstock, the nascence of feminism, the pill, Roe V. Wade - so many cultural milestones were packed into that decade and into the 1970s that began the enormous shift away from among other things, the nuclear family, & a sense of real community within the family, social structure, collectivism. A desire to do good and come together to help others, & a slow transformation from that to individualism and its many facets. And Vietnam.

@@JonShade-o4s none of the people that fought WW2+Korea had any illusions about evil. None of those people thought innocence was the norm. Those who were born into the 1960-70 time period had the benefit of the wisdom of the WW2 generation, but chose to ignore the hard lessons learned from chaos and warfare.

Jesus was a liberal. Pastors and priests have a long history of doing awful things. Abraham tied his son to an altar for sacrifice for the voices in his head. Today, he would get a 5150 hold. Good thing the voices changed their mind or there would have been another Vallow Daybell case.
