Joel falling into the basement of the hotel in Pittsburgh is the scariest and one of the most iconic parts of the whole game. To cut that and have zero infected sightings for the second straight episode was a miss for me. Everything else was awesome
@@braaandon5716 it was a tiny tiny cliff note in the episode. I understand more character development needs to be prioritized in the show but they have skipped a few absolutely iconic scenes with infected the last two episodes
@@Skitz0frenix she means they became more connected like in the game ofc they were always their characters but they played the part very well so well that they became more like the real characters in the game
This episode was something else. Pedro and Bella are selling Joel and Ellie's relationship so well I'm totally invested in this series. Can't wait for episode 5!
@@Tm3films she is doing fine is just taht she doesnt look like Ellie at all and i understand people being kinda mad, i get it i dont really like her but she acts like Ellie does.
Bella Ramsy was REALLY good has Ellie in this episode. And I really like that they gave depth to the "Hunters" they weren't that deep in the game as FEDRA and FireFlies. Really excited for Henry,Sam and the Bloator!🔥!
It was emotional in the weight that killing a person carry ,and did a tremendous job bringing Joel, and Ellie closer together. Loved the joker book, they nailed the truck ride ,and really made all the decisions feel like they matter. Love it so good every episode is just spectacular.
Can’t believe people thought Bella Ramsey was going to be a bad actress for Ellie. She’s perfect! Can’t wait to see how her and Joel’s relationship evolves as the episodes go by.
I knew her from GOT and I knew she could be great. She just had to have the timing of ellie's humor and its just perfect. She looking different from ellie never bothered me tho
I keep telling my friends that haven't played the game that the ending of the next episode is gonna be nuts. I'm so excited for it (assuming that the ending of the Henry and Sam arc is next episode)
I don't see them changing the ending of the Henry and Sam arc... it was a powerful (and heartbreaking) moment in the game. Better get those tissues ready.
@@manofthehour4747 Yeah, it was also a contradiction. Why be so mad about 3 people dying like it was the crime of the century, when they steal supplies by everyone entering the city?
I love how the trailer shows not only Henry and Sam but also highlights the parallel most of us draw from the difference between the two pairs using a scene of Henry attempting to shelter Sam opposed to how Joel and Ellie grow to work as a 50/50 team
@@thehoopman88 youre absolutely right, im sure if sarah lived at the start of the apocalypse joel wouldve never gave her a gun as quick as he did Ellie, but Ellie in this universe has already killed people prior to meeting joel i believe so thats probably gonna give her an even bigger tactical difference from sam and i hope that they show that passively well:D
I really don't know why someone of them is deaf.. And if we must have one of them to be deaf, I think it's better to be Sam, because Henry has some good conversation with Joel and Ellie
@@Sandar_ The actor playing Sam is indeed Deaf, but I can assure you that he will still have conversations and his his character won’t be less interesting.
@@de1uxetc294 Since it's a pun, they had to change a lot of jokes to fit the dubbing for other countries. In Spanish it was "Encontraron el gen de la timidez. Se estaba escondiendo" ("They found the Shyness gen. It was hiding.")
@@TheFilipeAraujo since she's playing Ellie's mom it would make sense to save her for a flashback in the finale. Maybe show how Marlene knew Ellie as a baby thus making Marlene final decision more painful when Ellie's mom is all keep her safe please
Loved the Ellie and Joel bonding this episode! I’m excited for Henry and Sam. The actors look perfect too. The little snippets I’ve seen, they really feel like siblings.
I agree. I just wish they casted another actress for Ellie - but she is growing on me. I rather have a kid that can act, that doesnt look like the character than having a kid that cannot act that looks like the character. But I still believe they could have done a better job with casting nonetheless. Imagine if Ellen Page was younger - it looks (and rumored) that they ripped off her looks to make Ellie. Julia Butters would be the best choice IMO (as she is a great actress and also have the looks to play Ellie). Pedro Pascal was a great pick tho
I remember seeing the concept art after playing the game for the first time and I came across the drawing with Ellie and Joel laughing around a campfire. The last scene in the episode more than made up for that. Thank you, creators and artists.
This show is getting better by every episode. The decoration of the environment in episode 4 was way good. Also capturing key moments from the game, really great to see it all coming more and more to life in the tv-show!
Really like this episode. You almost feel sympathy for the young kid that killed at the beginning. Even though he ambushed them, it's still human nature to feel bad about killing a man begging for his life. Cold world though. As someone who played the game, I love how they are expanding on Henry and Sam. One of the great things about going from video games to TV is that they don't have to spend as much time on quests and moving characters from point A to point B It can spend more time fleshing out backstories.
I agree. Can't explain how he suddenly get all these ammo to kill infected and bad guys or how he is healed from an medicine pack. The real world doesn't work like that.
@@peace4myheart I hope the people complaining about Bella's looks or Bill and Frank deviating from the videogame start demanding a scene where Joel eats like a 100 pills and herbs at once to develop superhearing powers.
The 4th episode showing endearing scenes Joel and Ellie bonding was so beautiful, how worried Joel was for her, them laughing together, I can't wait to see more of this in the coming episodes.
this show is just like a staircase, with every episode we go one step up into greatness and I'm really glad that the show is doing the game justice so far.
The best parts of episode 4 was ellie finding the magazine and it plays out same as it did in the game, but also, joel and ellie's relationship growing organically and them laughing together at the end. So damn wholesome.
@@manofthehour4747 listen here friend. You can go on finding things to complain about. But you seem to think everything has to happen exactly the same. It just doesn't work that way, they have to cut some things and add somethings. I think they did a fine job with what decisions they made.
Not this show entirely but in general they will have succession, hotd , last of us all competing ... along with a bunch other amazing shows on other networks..
@@g_g... Right, it's like wtf are people even saying? Was that scene funny, or did the writers want us to feel that it was funny by making the characters laugh hysterically at a lackluster joke? Are we supposed to be proud of the main characters for laughing at a diarrhea joke shortly after they just paralyzed and killed a kid whose mom is now on a dictator spree? Sooooo funny.
Kathleen has to be the least intimidating leader of any group I've seen yet. Otherwise, this was an amazing ep. Love how Joel is starting to warm up to Ellie now.
Totally feel it too. It's miscast for me. I can't stand her voice too, sounds a little bit too sweet, and not convincing at all when she's giving orders
Glad to be getting E5 a couple of days earlier after the cliffhanger ending on E4. Both of these episodes are part of one stop in the overall story of their journey, so good that it has same director and will be available to watch closer together. Even better would have been to release them same night together.
Me encantó la parte cuando ellie descubre la revista de Bill ,tan idéntico al juego ,casi lloro :') jdkkd .Que gran cap ,el mejor hasta ahora .El 5 el primer gordinflon chicos 🔥🔥
streaming and TV have been on fire on 2022 and 2023. the last of us is the best show out there. and that Bloater looks too real dude. the make up department have been killing it.
I'm excited to see what Kathleen's deal is. I fully trust them on everything and I think anyone calling this a miscast is not putting enough faith in the showrunners. Just wait until this episode, I'm sure the obvious questions we are asking are going to be answered.
The only thing I'm curious about is the pace of the show. I'm unsure how they'll really be able to capture all of the first game in 10 episodes especially since they're only at Pittsburgh/Kansas City. I feel like there's still so much that needs more time than what's available
It's neat that they fleshed out the Hunters. In the game they're just raiders hunting Joel, Ellie, Sam and Henry with no real explanation. Glad they fleshed out the motivations.
Was starting to worry about Bella as Ellie but Episode 4 although not that exciting...it did make Joel and Ellie "click" into place perfectly. Love it!
I have a feeling episode 5 will be intense and packed with action, E3 was long and not the most action filled yet, but very good. E4 was short and had the purpose of building up to E5, still very good with alot of small little easter eggs. The cracked floor that moved like something wanted out benieth was pretty awsome!
Joel falling into the basement of the hotel in Pittsburgh is the scariest and one of the most iconic parts of the whole game. To cut that and have zero infected sightings for the second straight episode was a miss for me. Everything else was awesome
That's one thing that is also starting to bother me. The show is too light on infected. Ep3 should have been THE infected episodes where they show the real danger. Joel being stuck upside down by one of Bill's trap while infected are jumping the fence would have been so good to see. At least we are finally getting the Bloater in Ep5.
@@chamoo232 FACTS! Ep3 should have been the one with the most infected and also a prelude to the human issue as well. Remember when Bill says, "As bad as the infected are, they're predictable. Normal people scare me more."? Well, the show doesn't seem to remember that either.
❤ after doing kids project, I am putting my jammies on, pouring myself a glass of wine and enjoying every minute of the latest episode. This show is absolutely awesome!❤
This week's episode was really lighthearted and what we needed especially after last week heavy episode. Wish it was longer bc I wanted more. However, I think it is setting up the groundwork for next week so I'm okay with it. I want me some Bloater!
I was watching this and my roommate walked in and said, "The cars look fake dirty." I praised her for her quick assessment of a show she hasn't even bothered to watch.
As a fan of the last of us paly station game I loved every second of this show I loved how they kept the background music and with the game on this show and how characters are on this show it draws you in like how the game did you get attached to the characters how joul and Elle bonds throughout there adventure I love it
