I am a 4th generation Indian here in Fiji...have followed the Indian team before the 2011 WC...this final started at 2:30am Fiji Time...stayed up and watched...and I'll never in my remaining life will forget this...thank you to all involved...the players, coaches and the support staff...thank you for giving me this wonderful memory 👍👍🙏
I see some people going on about Virat and how we were 15-20 runs short because of him. I don't think we were 15-20 runs short. It was Klassen's unbelievable hitting to the spinners that could have won SA the game. Besides, if Virat got out at 40-4, we weren't even reaching 150, let alone 170. For all the WCs he has carried the team single-handedly, like in 2014, and 2016, he deserves all the joy and happiness. Everyone in that team is a hero, not because of what happened yesterday, but in the last few years. They have dominated world cricket but didn't have a silverware. Now they do. And boy do these guys deserve it.
Absolutely agree, I too thought that Virat could’ve broken free an over or two earlier, but considering how klassen was batting, it wouldn’t have mattered. Ifs and buts aside this had a feeling of “meant to be”
The phase where he could have added 15 runs was overs 12 to 17 when game was stabilized, india had wickets in hand and he scored only 8 runs off 12 balls
It is an unpopular opinion, but getting 14 runs from 5 balls and then getting 36 runs from next 43 balls is not how anyone expect Virat to play. It feels unreal that a player of his quality would leave 7 overs without even trying to hit a single boundary. He tried only once when he tried to slog sweep Shamsi. I know this thing will go under the carpet because India won and it was Virat’s last match. At least 3-4 boundaries in those 43 balls would have him and team in safe waters. It is not asking for much from King Kohli.
I was 7 , that wc made me an ardent cricket follower , yuvi became my hero after his innings against australia espscially , o god that wc m sure earned some new cricket fans to indian cricket.
When the lights are brightest, Pressure is highest, Crowds are the loudest, The best will arrive, The strongest will survive, The greatest will thrive. King kohli ❤
My dad somehow believed that India has a great chance as balls are less than runs to get when SA needed 28 of 27 balls. I told myself he (dad) is still that Tendulkar fan with hopes that never shades. But it turns out that he was right at the end of the day ! What a game ! ❤
No he knows quality of Jasprit Bumrah... If this was team of his era he would have given up much earlier... This is best bunch of bowlers we have in our history. Can you believe I dont watch India batting but bowling innings because there is so much skills at display.
I live in Australia and it was night 12am start for me. Stayed until 4:30 and lost hope when it was 42 runs needed and stopped watching live. But then was on cricbuzz looking at the scores and then stayed woke up until 5:30am and enjoyed😮😅
Thank you Team India … You have given us so much Joy and this is match is itched in my memory forever till the end of time … I was crying when I saw Rohit kissing the ground and swallowed the soil from the pitch… Goosebumps 🙌🏻🙏🏻 Bumrah - you are Amazing !!! Hardik / Axar / RoKo / Surya / Arshdeep / Whole team India 🇮🇳… Thank you so much 🙏🏻 That catch from Surya under intense pressure and at that moment in the game was Out of this World … it felt as if it was God’s Plan !! Felt like Swayam Krishna Bhagwan came and guided Surya to not fall on the boundary line and gave him presence of mind to do it for 140 Crore People ❤ Hand and Foot of God ❤️💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻🙌🏻 India need to find 4 more Bumrah’s … BCCI please do something before 2026 World Cup 🙏🏻😊 Thank you all the support staff and commentators from India for giving us those goosebumps along with Team India 🇮🇳🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
After 3/4 of the Game...... I thought 🇿🇦 because of the edgy games they played throughout the series & in the past where these moments came against them, they🇿🇦 deserves this............. But after few seconds I reckon the other way because as a 🏏/🇮🇳 lover if you go back memories for the last decade, it was 🇮🇳 who were more favourites..... Anyway cricket 🏏 played & won here!!!!!!!!!! Well played 🇮🇳 & 🇿🇦 - A perfect FINAL 💯👏... ,
Life comes a full circle for fans like me.. for the unforgettable loss in 2007 at West Indies, we finally won in 2024. Salute to Rohit, Kohli.. SKY, your legacy will be remembered for that catch. Bumrah, arshdeep and hardik salute to you for the last 5 overs. And finally Dravid, who even after giving everything to Indian cricket, didn't have a ICC trophy to show. His emotions at the speak volumes of what it meant. June 29, 2024 will be remembered by fans like me. Love u Team India and this game.
Harsha you are such a great story teller! Have you given a thought on creating a podcast/interview series with all the members of this winning team? Including the support staff.
It was clear Kohli struggled to play the Rohit style ..bang bang cricket. It was like a god send chance for him...top 3 hitters gone for low scores..the game was set up for King Kohli style of masterful innings...hold up one end and let others bat around him and then crank up the strike rate close to the final overs..a strategy he has mastered and demonstrated to perfection in the 50 overs game. It was team performance each player pitching in at some stage of the tournament and the Indian fightback reminded me of the Aussie style of "never give up" attitude. The execution was spot on.👏👏👏👏👏👏
*Rohit style cricket has ever worked in any WC Final at top order?? Or even Champions Trophy Final?? Virat has top scored and won BOTH T20 WC, CT Final. I think some who don't understand cricket, can forgive all other batters for not being at best in Final as it's pressure, but when it comes to Virat they want him to BE AT BEST. In Final, people do end up few runs short, look knocks of T20 WC FINAL WINNERS Marlon, Kieswetter, Gambhir, Stokes, they were all mature, clutch knocks like Virat, not just some intent merchant. It was incredible knock, him being there allowed others to take extra risk too as he was still notout even after early wickets. That was a great total for a T20WC Final*
@@upabovealways so salty towards Rohit why he changed the approch of team that worked for india and Kohli did a masterclass but that's his job scored 75 in 7 games in total and every body else scored more runs than him in tournament it was his chance don't discredit whole team to just give credit to one player
Harsha, good morning on Monday, am nearing 75,did not have the courage to witness this classic match, live! What a match, had all the ingredients of a Hitchcock thriller, happy and thrilled to savour, India's victory, Jai, Hind👍🏻🤓👍🏻
I feel like Bumrah will have the same problem as Sachin, or Michael Jordan. He's so incredible that he might not even understand that others can struggle.
maybe for tests in odi t20s you need clutch match player who could win 2-3 wc easily hardik has the best horoscope in the indian team I could say if made captain can win anything
Being a good leader and brilliant individual contributor are two different things. Being one does not Guarantee the other. Completely different skill set.
@@karthikramamoorthy9653 do you think we wud be talking this if he was a batter like kohli or Rohit ? surely he wud have been given more chances to lead India and check if he cud be a captain material.Thats the point here..
Subscribed!! Didn't notice that this is ur channel and like always I took ur wonderful analysis for granted. Harsha ji, let me tell u. U r the only commentator who, as far as I know, is not a player and still commands respect from every fellow commentator who are legendary cricketers.
Hi Harshaji, Many congratulations on India winning the T20 world cup and at the same time I am really very happy for you that your wish came true to do commentary in the final match which India won. Simply Great. Wow!!!

@@upabovealways lo for the same reason Aus beaten nz in 2021 wc final coz they didnt put enough runs on the board.. aussies chases down 170+ easily, eng chased down 140 easily vs pak.. so all these pressure things are way behind now.. you have to put more runs on board.. so yes thanks to magical indian bowling that we won
@@trinrex1 doesnt matter what level of cricket i have played, i really appreciate the way VK played.. just that he should have opened up lilttle early for accelaration

I remember you ... in 1990s when sachin played in new a tournament at new zealand, you were just begining your career & i remember you ... when you lavished praises on every move of sachin & i remember you... when you lamblased sachin in his last tour of england and you suddenly realised the future of indian cricket and suggested new crop of players has to come and then forget the result for 2 seaons... & harsha by then you already made name by growing with sachin ... & you have grown to become a selector. we know you harsha , we means the people who listened to radio commentaries in the 90s ... you played us ...
Harsha, this was a great show. The world enjoyed it. It's worthy of a WC final and more. Before the dust settles, it's time for the next generation of Team India T20 members to notice and take clues from India's approach to the game and Rohit's tactics as a Captain and utilize it in their game plan as it is an ageless strategy that will stand the test of time. Congratulations, Team India! Good luck to the next generation, Team India!
As you said, we overlook things if the end is right. But we shouldn't. Kohl's did a great job at holding the innings when we lost 3 wickets in powerplay. But he was way too slow and took the initiative way too lateeeeee. It was the innings that could've costed us the game coz we were eadily short by ~15-20 runs.
Give some credit to Klassan as well, He played some very good shots and out of the world instead of telling them they should have done this and that. If you had played cricket then you will understand
Basically it was one freak of nature (kohli) vs another freak of nature (klassen) and the occasion of it being the final. Both teams made mistakes like SA bowling was not particularly good and India's spinners weren't as effective as they were in the rest of the tournament, but the team which managed to hold its composure when the tournament was on the line won at the end
I kept on telling my friends that we were 25 short, but Kohli isn't the reason imo. He did his role, instead, Dube didn't fire, he needed to smash every ball, but his technique was exploited by SA. We had Hardik and Jaddu next, no need to save the wicket.
The innings Axar Patel played yesterday is the type of innings KL Rahul should've played in the 2023 WC final. 😅 India could've scored 280+ and that scoreboard pressure would've got them over.
India has always been a team of individual champions. The team that played under Captain RoHitman Sharma in T20 WC was the Champion Team. I'm elated and thrilled that Team India won. It's a team game always. A team of great players will win you a few matches. But a great team will win you World Cups. Jai Hind. ❤❤❤
I was the prime of my life over the four year period from 2007 to 2011 when India won the world in T20 and 50 overs. I took the wins for granted. I was heart broken last year when India lost in the final. I have a questionable professional career graph, not doing well physically with diabetes and other complications. This win has rejuvenated me like nothing else. Not wanting to take the mickey out of the win by the boys but thank you Team India for giving me hope, something to cherish. Thank you Thank you Thank you. And Harsha, just keep talking, I want to just keep listening to you talking about India winning❤
I was devasted when India loose 2023 world cup, I stop watching all the video realted to cricket, not because India last it! but we won 9 matches and that one match! I was scared to watch against this match as well, I went to music concert in London and checking score on mobile now and then, when I see 30 runs from 30 balls, I assumed that is last the match, again I watch the score when 17th over, I sense something incredible going to happen, I started watching the video putting my earphone on! in music concert hall, I was watching cricket on mobile phone! It was great feeling and relief at the end! what a match! what a win! I wanted India win for Rohit, Kholi and Rahul! finally it! it happend! I was in full emotion all day! Congradulcation Team India! you are all Champions! next target is Champions trophy and Test Chompions! go and Conquer! Love you alll🥰
Nice video Harsha. I was disappointed with Rohit as he let us down in last few finals by playing rash shot which was not required. He is such an elegant player that he don't have to olay sweep shot in second over when we are 23 in 8 balls. He can hit any bowler straight out of ground. But great to see Virat , Axar, Arshdeep and Great Bumrah saved us. Also giving 14th over to Axar was blunder as they were looking one bowler to target. That over should have bowled by Hardik.
Look you cannot score back to back 50 in all games his semifinals knock will again be overshadowed by kohlis masterclass but that approch was needed it was a flat wicket that short would have gone for four or six few inches here and there and 6 overs 54 were needed yes hardik should have bowled but at that time 2 of hardik and 2 bumrah and 1 arshdeep and one over spin had to come that place so if axar came a bit later we wouldn't have a runs left
The SKY catch has parallels with the catch Boult took of Stokes in 2019 final. Unfortunately for him, he touched the ropes which ultimately cost them the trophy. So important to know your bearings while taking such catches
We , Cricket fans missed you in commentry box at the end along with Ian Smith and Polly yesterday. Your voice would be cherry on cake. Please bring Sunandan Lele on this platform.Always Love your voice ❤
We know virat, rohit, bumrah , hardik, etc can deliver , but tbh axar came out of syllabus. He has delivered with bat & ball❤. And finally i feel sad for none other than 2 players Quinton & miller. These 2 need a WC so bad😢
Harsha used to be such an heartwarming expert to look up to! Unfortunately it’s not the same anymore! Good Indian commentators/experts like him have began running their narratives against how the game needs to be played by our players. To an extent it’s understandable but why the over cynicism? Just be balanced in your criticism as well as your adoration! Irony is Indian commentators fall flat in countering the western counterparts! Most western commentators who end up on our broadcasting are pure opportunistic! They will go all goody goody till India does well. And when we start dominating, the narrative to discredit Indian win begins! Slowly builds it up! Irony is, the Indian experts who We surely need some fresh faces in broadcasting! People who are away from the PR agencies and who wouldn’t be scared to put their opinion, at the same time cater to Indian audiences more than the western!
In the final two wickets taken by Maharaj otherwise South Africa can't imagine the score Rohit going to set may be 250 because pitch is very good for batting .Rohit Sharma did a mistake not introducing Hardik pandya in power play .again when there is nothing for spinner why axer patel given 4th over given 24run
50 over game is real game.... that's where we can see real potential of players ability...20 over matches only for entertainment... only few players scoring at the top maximum times and remaining players hardly getting any chances...
we will miss rohit & kohli, but now we have jaiswal , gill, abhisek sharma , ruturaj gaikwad , kl rahul to fill the gap for them all the best team india 2026
Imagine Kohli getting out trying to slog for a six of Shamsi.. India would have scored 140-150.. Stop the hate.. Everyone played their part.. Enjoy the moment 😊
Why nobody is taking about dada he is the one who made rohit as captain and rahul as coach and got trolled very badly by virat fans , btw virat himself left the test captaincy so dada thought rohit will be a right choice for odis and t20s look the result now and where are virat fans who were abusing dada .
Would have missed? Had lost? Well if it's about possibilities, then my life would have been so much better had you not posted this comment. Oh BTW, Rohit got the team he wanted to win the cup and he got the team and also the cup. People can go through endless possibilities and then try finding endless solutions.
Ashwin is good bowler but on the field he is very slow to move and in fast T20 format he can end up giving runs in field due to misfields and catches. Imagine if Ashwin was there in place of SKY at boundary line.
Harsha, you said a lot about Rohit, Virat, Bumrah, Dravid, even Arshdeep and Hardik..But it wouldnt and CANT be complete without acknowledging JAY SHAH's contribution to this Win..For after MI created controversy in the IPL, and the subsequent ugliness involving Rohit and Hardik, and ppl wanting Rohit replaced as India Captain, It was Jay Shah who stood behind Rohit like a rock and announced India would be led by Rohit Sharma in the T20 World Cup..and when news came that Rohit and Agarkar didnt want Hardik in the team, it was Jay Shah once again who stood firm and brought the two together..and the results are for everybody to see..Jay Shah deserves Kudos for reinstilling the belief to win in a broken Indian team
Gavaskar is Number one Basterd spoiled many people career and Now he is having JEALOUS on Virat kohli.....Basterd he always talk about strike rate but he played 36 Runs in 60 overs Worldcup....Basterd
It is good that Virat took retirement from T20I... his style of play doesn't suit in this format.. Rohit should have continued till 2026 bcz he is best suited for T20 cricket...
