Hi Selma, I don’t believe Strauch is in business any longer. From what I can make out the original owner sold the company. The person that bought the company passed away. It appears family and friends tried to keep the business going but eventually let it go. I placed an online order and got an automated confirmation but never received the product. I contacted the my credit card company and they indicated it looks like they are out of business. I honestly don’t believe there was fraud involved but they neglected to take down the website. I was able to get a refund through the credit card company and they were going to do an investigation but I never heard the final result.

Just found you! I'm beginning my 1st Ranunculus and have enjoyed your comments about yours. You've also completed and shown many garments I have Favorited on Ravelery and it's wonderful to see them and hear your thoughts. Those little socks and sweaters are great ornaments/gift tags. For your mini sock blocker make a sock shape from the side of a milk jug you can punch some holes in it for air flow but i don’t think it would be needed for such a small piece there are other kinds of plastic you could use but the milk jug plastic works great of yo7 thought i wasn’t thick enough just double it spray glued together. They sure will be cute when you get a bunch strung together.

I’ve just bought your skirt pattern, Selma, and plan to knit one for my beautiful daughter-in-law. But this means I need to ask her for her measurements! I have a ball winder similar to yours, and I love it. That beautiful diamond-y ball happens because of the offset nature of the winder mechanism, according to the Strauch website: “The Strauch jumbo ball winder generates a unique and distinctive diamond-shaped patterned ball as a result of its dual rotation. Two things must happen at the same time in order to wind a perfect ball. 1. The whole drive wheel assembly must rotate around the center bolt as the crank is turned ("A" arrow on left photo). 2. The wheel holding the yarn cylinder must also smoothly revolve on the clear plastic drive cone. ("B" arrow on left photo).”

Such beautiful knits. I am not at the stage of trusting how a sweater will look as a vest. I’m loving my most recent vest and will look forward to how your next one turns out. You are going to love your skirt in the Briggs and Little. So warm and great for snowshoeing! The clips of the snow laden mountain ash made my heart sing. The bears stripped all the berries off the trees around us this fall (hot dry summer led to fewer other berries and hungry bears). We are missing that beautiful winter pops of colour.

What a lovely way to greet the day. Thank you for opening my morning 💕 you’ve inspired me to look back at my Laine magazine for Afterparty. I love the colors you selected for the Jen Steingass sweater. I have a lots of Jamieson and Smith in cones and skeins and some new Woolyknit British Wool skeins, so I’m thrilled to be inspired to put them to patterns. Your reading selections are lovely. I haven’t read Sue Monk Kidd in a few years. If you haven’t read it, you might like Snowflower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See. A beautiful story that explores the beauty and strength within that draws individuals together amongst cultural tensions and expectations. With all that is happening in our global society, I feel like we need hope and perseverance amidst the struggles. Thanks again wishing you joyful days!

Interesting that all your favourite sweaters are fingering weight- so much knitting involved, but worthwhile in the end, it seems. I am playing with different sock yarns this year to see what is my favourite, style, heel, toe, and yarn, so found the socks talk really interesting. I have a pair of socks in Kroy, which I think is non super wash with nylon and they are definitely warmer than my pair with superwash yarn. However, I think the Kroy is more sport weight than fingering, so that might make a difference too. I have ordered some West Yorkshire Spinners yarn and would also like to try Mondim as both receive rave reviews. Congrats on your skirt pattern success. That must have felt wonderful to be able to give such a substantial donation to a charity and very kind of you to have chosen that route. Thanks for another lovely “visit”. I hope Ottawa warms up. We are finally out of the derp freeze in the BC interior, but still pretty snowy.
@littlebigknits

I’m not sure about Kroy myself. I have some that I hope to knit up this year. Sock knitting is a fun way to experiment with different styles, yarns and stitches too!

Loved the scenery and all the snow. I will be interested to see what pattern you choose for your red vest to replace the one you fogged. I find sometimes that I have trouble matching yarn and a project. I want to make a scarf or shawl for my sister using stash yarn. I fogged several yarn and pattern starts when they just were not producing a project that made me happy. I am on my 4th pairing and think I finally hit on one that will work. I really enjoy your podcast and was glad to hear you mention Kate. I hope she is doing well. I miss her podcast.

Re: the Land Line . . . I keep mine. The neighbor kids have NO way of making phone calls! Their parents only have mobil phones and if they step away and the kids NEED 911 (emergency situation) they have NO way of calling for help. Also, if they get confused, somehow, they can call someone from here. Seriously, this sounds funny, but we have saved the day more than once. Hummm . . . have you guessed that we are the "seniors" in the neighborhood????? Yeah. Well, we're good for something! But, like you, the spam callers do love me a lot. Small price to pay . . .

Selma- what a lovely visit I had with you. While I watched your episode I knit on my Navagio pullover by Kate Terentyeva. I am knitting it in Purl Soho Linen Quill in a cobalt blue colour. I can tell that it is going to be a go to sweater for me! I enjoyed your segment on your favourite knits and they are just stunning! I also have a pair of socks knit with Woolly Mammoth's Natural Sock base and they are warm and one of my favourites. I definitely find there is a difference in warmth between my non superwash and superwash socks. It has been a great learning experience for me! Have a great week.

Thanks for todays podcast I love all the cosy knits. I totally agree about yarn affecting the warmth of socks. I find superwash merino doesn’t keep my feet that warn but are great in spring and autumn. Blue faced Leicester fares better I have a wool cashmere silk blend that are strictly house socks but are great. I’m going to try a non superwash sock next. They make warm light sweaters so should make cosy socks too.

Hi, Selma! I wonder if you've Knut Hamsun's novel 'Growth of the soil'? If not, I will strongly recommend that you check it out. The language is so simple, and so strong! On socks, I find my superwash ones to be rather cold and not really for winter use. Putting on a real wool sock is like having a small oven on my feet 😊 Love, Britt.

Happy Sunday Selma 👋 A really enjoyable episode as always 👌 Thanks for the mention!!! That wee sock is adorable...can’t wait to see its friends arrive over 2022 ☺️ I’m loving your 2021 colour palette, those blues are perfect on you. I can see why you reach for The Afterparty so often, it’s wonderful 💙 xx

It's always good to hear other peoples comments on patterns, as in my experience they are not all tried and tested. so I thank you for yours. I have just discovered you on RU-vid so I'm in for a bit of binge viewing. Heavy snow here in Calgary, Alberta so won't feel guilty at all. Looking at the background I see a beautiful wood carved tree, may I ask where you would have purchased that, was it from a local wood turner. Thank you for a pleasant afternoon.

I'd had my eye on the West Yorkshire Spinners Robin 4ply, but went with Rum Paradise as birthday socks for my friend. I love how you made the colours pop with the red. Will be adding the WYS Robin to my next order :) I'm also amazed at how much you knit in a year. All very beautiful and things I'd wear.

Hello selma, I am a new subscriber to your channel and am almost caught up with your episodes, binge watching I am! Love looking at all your many knitting bags and wondering if you can tell me how many you own? I have 4 handmade bags myself but I am always open to acquiring more…..thanks for the great podcasts, I find them so calming and love the music and scenery you include before and faster you speak.

I love your episodes! I started to rewatch them. I was at episode 20 and you just finished your 1e ranunculus and would see if you would make more, which was a questionmark. It made me laugh, knowing you now made 5! Your episodes are allways keeping me company during my knitting, so thank you for that.
