Episode 60 - Chinese Diesel Heater Install 

Looks like we will be getting out of here about April. We will be heading north to Maine. We will be waiting for you guys

There is a high loop aft that we didn't capture in this vid. Gary recently added air space and a 4" dryer duct fiberglassed over in that section in the lazarette. We also have the fiberglass insulation wrap for interior pipes now. Temps with the digital thermometer show rapid drops by the time it reaches the lazarette high loop. Pulsating pump is quiet in comparison to our install of the Webasto on our smaller trailer sailer. Surprisingly little noise in aft stateroom.

Agree. I was looking at this video to find a solution for my exhaust and this is the 5th vido that dosent show that part..

Thank You! David has an excellent series and very detailed. We have muffler tape on the joints and a CO detector just in case. Keeping a watchful eye on the whole setup and will keep everyone posted.

That's one of the things I would be nervous about, just switching off the power. Without the proper cool down, you can fry the electronics. Did you try just pushing the power off button? I'm guessing you probably tried that and it wouldn't respond. Another thing I noticed is on startup. This puppy draws about 7 amps and you need a good gauge wire to run the distance without incurring a sizable power loss. I have 14 gauge Cable in place for a 12 ft run which is sufficient but not optimal. I'm planning to upgrade this to 10 gauge next week. I see about a one volt drop with the 14 gauge at the heater

Well, thank you. Innovativeness appears to be very necessary when owning a boat. We have also installed a similar diesel heater in our friend's van. That wasn't even tighter space to work in and provided additional challenges!

The pipe runs under the aft stateroom berth an into the Lazarette where there is a high loop before exiting the stern.

We did a little bit of tilt but certainly not 45°. From what we've been able to ascertain in practical operation over the past two years is that the angle does not appear to be a critical factor.
