Every time swings and understudies are featured, I'm blown away by how much they do and how they keep a show going. And as a stage manager myself, I always applaud management!!
i like the direction caitlin took with these videos instead of just vlogging the week she took time to interview different cast members etc love it can’t wait for next week
6:16 "they're not all straight" skjsjdfsdljkfsdfas love the approach caitlin is taking w/ talking to so many different people and letting us see all the parts of the production!! and love hearing from a stage manager, what a treat!!
Honestly, the amount of respect i have for understudy’s is insane. They’re job looks so hard (and something i could never do) and yet they are still incredible every single time they walk out on stage
I met Caitlin when she was the understudy (to Emma Hunton) for Natalie in the national tour of "Next to NormaL" She can certainly relate to the job that understudies have to do.
Oh my gosh! I was at the performance Kate was talking about- the one where she went on as DeeDee 2 days after opening. I literally had no idea she went on so last minute! She was so amazing! 😱❤
Yessss!! As an aspiring Stage Manager, it makes me so happy to see Bway.com vlogs that feature them because they work hard af!! Same for the swings/understudies, I'm glad we got to have a little insight into all the work they put into the show as well! :)
Your stage manager seems so young. I'm so amazed that she's a Broadway stage manager already at this point in her life. Unless she's incredibly young looking for her age lmao
Thank you for including the stage manager/s! It's part of what I'm studying and what I think I want to do as a career, so I really love getting to see and hear from people working in that position!
I'm really enjoying these! Thanks for making the vids. I must say, I've fallen in love with your voice and play the songs from The Prom over and over. Hope this show will tour the country one day!
Swings and understudies are amazing and don't get enough credit. Thanks for showcasing them and stage management's jobs regarding understudies! I am curious - are there separate understudy and swing rehearsals (since there may be a couple of people who cover the same role)?
This was one of the best tutorials of the process of understudying I’ve seen. It’s great to see the actors and the stage manager lay out their processes. It’s a top ten vodcast, or vlog, or whatever.
ugh . . . . no one is going to see this question, but i am so confused. i thought a swing was a person who covered a bunch of other roles, but the understudies do, too? then what is the difference?!
Understudy is a person On stage, in ensemble and can cover principal track. It can be more than one. Swing - person off stage, they mostly cover for ensemble (for example: when understudy on for principal), and know multiple tracks, but they also can cover principals. Sometimes swings are also called understudies, but it's rare to happen. I hope it was helpful
“OMG HI JAIDEN ANIMATIONS!!” is what I would’ve said if I didn’t check your channel to see if it’s real. It’s not cool to pose as someone you’re not. Stop doing this.
