In this interview, mindful photographer Joseph Lee joins Chester Art Beat's Elizabeth (lizzy biggs photography) in preparation for his Chester Art Beat exhibition 5-7th July at the Chester Visual Arts space @chestervisualarts910 in the Grosvenor Shopping Centre @GrosvenorShopping
Joseph takes us through some fabulous discussions on the process of engaging with mindfulness and being present for photography.
Dipping into event photography we also discuss how he works together with other artists as they are creating work and his collaborative project with artist Lowri Evans.
We explore the question "What is good light" and how Joseph looks for the light in his travels, shadows and contrast, flat light, bright light, and their varying impacts.
Tools are of varying importance for any artist in the production of their work so we go behind the scenes to understand more about Joseph's tools of choice for camera brand, lenses, editing software and stylistic choices.
One of the key features in much of Joseph's work is small people in big places. Listen to find out more about space, place and people in these contexts, and how they impact the final selections made.
