what will happen in case we use an ackerman which will increase the length of steering linkages???
@RCCrewChief
@RCCrewChief 5 лет назад
If you increase the length of the tie rods you can get more steering angle on the outside wheel but you will have less Ackermann. Shorter tie rods will do the opposite. I assume that is what you are asking. If you wish to investigate effects of other linkage changes you can download the program and try it for yourself. There is a 30 day free trial.

At 7:21, if front tire have slip angle, rear tire have slip angle. the figure is wrong.
@RCCrewChief

I am only discussing steering ackerman that is why there is no mention of slip angles for the rear tires. You are correct though the rear tires must have a slip angle otherwise they would generate zero grip.

is there no math that calculates Ackerman without using tire tire angle and turn radius?
@RCCrewChief

Not to my knowledge. There is lots of info out there on Ackerman angles but since this is a dynamic property the only way I know of is to calculate the inside/outside wheel steering angles for any position is to use the actual geometry.
