Your host Bill Kelly and guest, former Canadian intelligence analyst Phil Gurski, discuss the issue of foreign interference in Canadian politics and the lack of action taken by the government. The report released by the National Security Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians suggested that some parliamentarians had been involved in efforts of foreign states to interfere in Canadian politics. However, there has been a lack of follow-up and discussion on this critical issue. The conversation highlights the importance of addressing national security and the need for politicians to take it seriously. It also raises concerns about the reluctance to release the names of those involved and the potential impact on future elections.

Interesting they named the lady charged in the $250,000 SDTC arrest/charges today. MPs can’t be named in FI because of due process.

I think foreign interference is a much bigger issue that we know. There are corporate farms all over Canada that are run by Canadians but have gone from farming 2,000 acres to 60,000 acres in less than 10 years. They bring money through other companies then funnel it to the farm. This is just farming I can only imagine how far this goes but the problem is too many people are profiting for the government to do anything. I think opposition getting clearance to read the report was a waste of time it seems like political handcuffs. The NDP read the report and have the power to hold the government accountable and nothing has happened. I hope conservatives play is to lay silent so they can act accordingly….. but time will tell. I’m glad people like you are still talking about this keep this issue alive we need to encourage more whistle blowers.

Would RCMP do all/part of the clearance?? They are bought/paid [like CBC].

If he submits to a clearance he can not speak of what he learns through the report as to who are the guilty parties. He can not remove a senator for doing dirty business as it would be obvious who was involved and leaving them open to law suits. Hello you of all people should know better!

I don’t agree that Pierre should submit to the terms and conditions being imposed by this liberal Gov’t in order to read this report. Why should there be conditions? Fellas I don’t agree with you on this point. I don’t believe that position of the liberal Gov’t has been justified. Further, the consequence of liberal terms and conditions is burying the issue.

Absolutely correct. By not being muzzled he can investigate, speak candidly to the media and the house. If the Libs obstruct this process he will be able to act when PM.
