It's great to see someone taking note of Don Rosa, he deserves so much more than what he's got in his own country. While it is annoying when people mix DuckTales to the Don Rosa novels, it is still a decent example of 'Holland' (Actual nation being The Netherlands, Holland being just one province.) style of marketing oneself. When people associate you so strongly to one name, it might be better to just embrace it and just roll with it. Also, how do you not have more views? I honestly thought this channel was at least 10 times bigger looking at the production and research being made. Much, much, MUCH bigger companies do less research and make so many more errors in this kind of videos, so this was really well made in that aspect.

There is actually one exception to Rosa's "only Barks' backstory for Scrooge applys" rule: How Scrooge got the First Dime. It's from a Carl Falleberg/Tony Strobl story "Chairman of The Bored". According to Rosa, the scene was so fitting for the character that he made the exception.

I think that here, in the NL, Donald is a comic character first and cartoon second. Just because the weekly comic book is being sold everywhere since 1952.

Revisiting this video after 2 Don Rosa stories got banned. Not too surprised that one of them got mentioned here, it is one incredibly important moment in his life. So sad for anyone wanting to get the whole collection now, but at the same time, people who already have those... the value is going to rise, if that's something someone cares about.

I read a lot of Scrooge stories growing up, so am interested in how that all started. I don't think I ever heard about Duck Tales tho (assume it ran on one of the 3 main networks back in the day). Nice to hear a chat about Barks and how his legacy continued even if I'm not familiar with so much of this. Scrooge stories were wildly imaginative. Always loved the depiction of his giant money bin (which could be seen from miles away), and how so much of it consisted of coins with paper bills sticking out of the money hillsides like tufts of weeds. And Uncle Scrooge diving in and swimming in it! (My favorite story, among many, detailed the discovery of the "Terries" and the "Fermies" (sp?), these little underground characters who are the cause of earthquakes. Wild craziness.

The underground characters yes!!! I love them too.

As a fun sidestory. Don Rosa always, somewhere on the pages, has the acronym D.U.C.K.S. hidden. Now that's stands for "Dedicated to Uncle Carl from Keno". Now Keno is, as far as i have understand, the first name of Don Rosa. So every duck-comic he has done is dedicated to Carl Barks. Oh, and by the way, when me and my friends discuss Scrooge. The life and time of Scrooge McDuck is our bible. If it's not in there or in the complement, it's not to bother. :)

I contacted Fantagraphics a couple of days ago about the Vol. 1 & 2 Box Set, seems like that was a scam. Here's their answer: "Unfortunately this is an apparently un-killable rumor that keeps cropping up, and apparently some scam websites are even selling bogus pre-orders. While we do intend to eventually reprint, it's not currently on our production schedule. We'll be sure to do an official announcement through our website or social media when the set is re-released!"

Will receive the last 2 volumes (already :() of the Don Rosa Library in October this year! There will be some stories in there that I have never read simply because they weren't published in my language (Dutch) yet. Really looking forward to it. Ow and I have met Don Rosa back in 2014 in Germany, I arrived at the place 9 in the morning and had to wait till 4 in the afternoon to finally meet him. He made me a nice Duck of the Klondike drawing which is hanging on my wall and properly framed :D. One day I will hopefully meet him again in the States at a Con!

Thank you so much for this great video, shining some light on Don Rosa, Carl Barks, and the Duck comic books in general!!! My dad started collecting the Barks Library when I was a wee lad, so I grew up with them. I also bought some issues of an anthology series which featured Duck and Mickey stories by many (I think only European) authors, but the Barks adventure stories would always be my favourite. The only other author I enjoyed just as much was Don Rosa, so when I found out about the "Life and Times" biography he wrote for my most favorite Barks character Scrooge McDuck, I knew I had to get this. It was on my christmas list when I was like 12, and it blew my mind! I loved Don Rosa's drawings, I loved the stories, and as a Barks fan myself, I loved his canon :-) I read it again every once in a while, and I still enjoy it a lot. Also, did you know that musician Tuomas Holopainen made a film score style album of orchestral music inspired by "Life and Times"? It goes really great with the stories, and I can highly recommend it!

I was just recommended this video today. I must say you guys did a wonderful job telling people of the day importance of Scrooge McDuck and two of the greatest artist/writers to ever produce comics. All three of these “people” are under appreciated by U.S comic fans and the U.S. comic world in general. Plus all of Scrooge ‘s adventures created by Barks and Rosa are way way way undervalued by collectors in my humble opinion. Also, I think these people books should command higher prices then many superhero books from the same time period.

Nice video! :D a Lot of great information from stories made by Don Rosa and these stories defenetly not made for kids. But you did say one thing wrong about him. Don Rosa never wrote any DuckTales TV-episode. He made a script for two TaleSpin episodes, but he wrote only one comic story to DuckTales magazine in 1990.
