Hello Martyn! So happy you’re okay. You have been very busy! When knitting Stephen West’s socks, I check the gauge after the ribbing is 75% done. Spritz with some water, pin, wait for the piece to dry and measure. It usually helps to see if you’re close to the gauge! Stay well! Best.

Thank you for catching up. You did make a lot! And i love how you just say. I made this bit i can not show it. I found that i knit all socks on a 2,25mm unless it is langyarns, than i need a 2. Colourwork need a 0,5 bigger needle. And for socks need to switch to knitting continental vause otherwise it will not fit. Ooh pretty yarn! Must go buy some;)

Well done on the run and you are looking fantastic! Not that you are not always 😉. I never test gauge on socks--it's like hats buy the time you swatched it would be a sock. It is a bummer when you can't get it over the heel, though as you have done, there is always something to be done with it. Whenever I work a slip stitch or other type of pattern that could be potentially a bit tighter I will (now) try out the pattern needle suggested even if it seems larger than I would normally do; though I have to fight my "norm". I am all over the place with WIPs and casting on with wild abandon and am just rolling with it. Safe travels and take care!

i know what you mean about wanting to show a secret test knit to show you have been knitting away. i just finished a test knit that was a fingering weight sweater knit on 2.75 needles and knitted flat!! it was a mammoth effort but I can't tell anyone about it until November. pity about the honeycomb socks, but it's worked out well that the small one won't go to waste and you will still have enough to make a new pair. i am also a loose knitter so I tend to size down with my needles by default and most of the time it's fine but every so often it bites me on the bum.

Hi Martyn, so excited for Saturday. I want to see what you have made. Thank you for keeping the entry at a low price! My niece ran the half marathon in Manchester on Sunday. She's raising money for Alzheimer's, sadly her dad, my big brother is a sufferer of this horrible, horrible disease. So proud of her for completing it. We was in Manchester last week. We went to see Aladdin. Amazing. I definitely recommend it. We've rebooked We enjoyed it that much. Managed to do some crocheting last week. Made a bag for my granddaughter to take on holiday. Hadn't done any since early/mid January. Did a bit too much, but had to finish it before the airport run. Our eldest lives and works in North Wales. Safe travels home. Hello! I just finished the syncopation blanket by Purl Soho. It’s so soft and cuddly.

I lost one of my favorite Dpns while tinking a gusset during a camping holiday (Brits call it a caravan). Then I grafted a sleeve to the armhole inside out 🤦‍♀️ I've put all my knitting in time out until my brain gets an adjustment 😊

So lovely to see you again martyn, sounds like it's been a couple of weeks lol. As for untangling yarn, it seems to be one of my guilty pleasures. I'm always unravelling and rewinding yarn at my LYS lol

Thank you SO much Martyn for checking in! I was worried about you! Glad to know your doing well (and running ….goodness!…congrats) I’m excited to see your pride projects for the raffle. Sometimes projects just don’t go the way we want but how nice you can use the socks as a sample for Gemma. Someday (maybe) we’ll learn our lesson about swatching….why is it that it’s so much more fun to cast on a project and get going than it is to do a gauge swatch? (My answer…..sometimes they lie…..so I choose to do the fun part and live in a happy world….until I find out the project doesn’t fit 🤬)Anyway thanks again for keeping us up to date (I’m anxious to see that test knit too….) and look forward to this weekend!

Go back up a needle size, is my advice/motto when doing colourwork knitting. Havent noticed before but your eyes Mark, are a beautiful blue, must be the shirt. Take care. Look forward to the Raffle. Mailing to Australia costs heaps.
