There's a typo. it must have been the first person to watch who spotted it - thank you Michael! I'll do better next time. I did think about re-editing, deleting and re-uploading, but decided not to! Ironic because I took the pee out of the box being spelled badly - then I mess up my own captions. Forgive me - but just let's skip this one!!
A normal comparison between a real Shure SM57 and a similar mic sold by Thomann in Germany, and the £12 SM57 lookalike on Aliexpress. There is also a fourth 57 - a faulty and silent genuine 57 that I found I could get a new Chinese capsule for. Would it fit? I didn't like the end cap - would the Shure one fit the Chinese one. Yes and No - in part 2 you can hear what happened.

Shure tranny+replacement capsule seems to be closest to sm57. MB75 is brighter and the cheapest even more so in a very unpleasant way.With MB75 you can get decent recording especially when combined with something not as toppy, but I seriously doubt that the cheapest would be adequate. At least here it sounds awful both on voice and guitar. Though the cheapest might have been facing little more away from the sound hole, but even with voice it was painful. Good stuff, thanks for the video.

Could you not try taking the squished capsule out of the sure grill and putting it back into the copy grill. Also have you tried looking into fixing the genuine shure 57 capsules. You mentioned the thin wire, maybe it is broken somewhere and just needs bridging.

Good points - if I get some time I might have a go, but I have a dump box for mics, and every now and again, get a bit savage and pop them on ebay at a bargain price. I'd rather the less successful ones go to a good home. P

I have two T Bone MB75´s I bought on a whim many years ago for recording guitar and never really did much with them. I recently got some inspiration and tried used them for simple vocal recordings on Facebook messages, recording voice-over for games and that sorta stuff. I was very surprised to find out they are very decent for voice work. Miles better than any heatset mic. I don´t know why the one you have sounds so screechy in the high-end. Mine doesn´t sound like that at all.
