I had parasitic food poisoning from a Cruise ship on the 2nd day of the trip. They didn't know what was wrong with me and called it sea sickness. I spent the next 6 days in agony. The airlines almost refused letting me fly home from Florida. I spent 3 weeks in the hospital once we returned home. They tested for everything before they figured it out. Though I lost 30 pounds and could eat on my own again after 4 more months., for years I was easily sick to my stomach at random. It finally eas gone after about 5 years. These things are no joke.

My own experiences with doctors havent been very good, to the point I only see one if I absolutely must. And god forbid a doctor has to deal with even a marginally educated patient, but since the lockdowns medical care has become a nightmare. If even a doctor cant get tests in a timely manner or get another doctor to listen to them, what hope is there for the rest of us?

I almost died from that same reaction, I actually have a video on my page about my experience. I turned purple from head to toe. It traumatized my little boy so badly, that he’s a grown man now, and it’s all so totally fresh in his mind, he swears it just happened. It was nearly 15 years ago now. Very scary

Why don't Drs listen to their patients. I had a blown disc in my back. I was in so much pain a threw up everything i ate. To the point i was about to say goodbye. I had been to the dr SEVERAL times and all she did was poke with a plastic tooth pick and say hum interesting. Then she flagged me as a "pill seeker" because i asked for 800mg ibuprofen. The neurologist seen my MRI and set up an appointment two months out. In the mean time i can walk im in constant pain praying for relief of life. Thwn my frien took me to different town and hospital 30mins later im in surgery. My all those who said i was just after pills go through what i did. I had no history of drugs they just assumed because of my age there wasn't anything actually wrong with me.

So sorry. Your story is familiar. A hospital’s ER staff nearly killed my daughter by ignoring us. They sent us away twice. The third time they attempted to turn her away she totally fell apart. Within an hour after they hesitantly admitted her, she fell into septic shock and was rushed to the ICU.

I was advised by the technician to take ibuprofen several times a day in preparation for a spinal injection. I did as I was told and shortly after I ended up in emergency with a bleeding ulcer that required 3 pints of blood to save my life. The manufactures don’t put these things on the labels it Ought to be a law.

Does it seem that doctors get it wrong more often than they get it right? My experience has been that they are now (esp since COVID) very dismissive and they do not listen. (This is how I ended up on life support fighting for my life...the underlying issue was a kidney stone I passed on my own. However, I was released from the hospital with a wbc count of .9. It turns out I had HA double pneumonia that became HA septic shock. I am now permanently disabled thanks to that error. My health and, thus, my life has been completely destroyed as a result of no one listening to me even though I had a temp of 104 degrees in addition to just about no white blood cells.)

Same sorta. Chronic severe pain started same time as opioid hysteria insanity.. all cause a combo of malpractice where my cheekbone was broken thru 5 teeth from a dental implant over torque and a rare genetic mutation that makes me completely intollerant of synthetic or metal products that cause systemic auto-inflammation that mimics autoimmune diseases without the test markers

I am so sorry this happened to you. Hospitals are the key. I reaserch all the hospitals I access are all bout 30 to 35 minutes by car no sirens or speeding. Anyway, my closest healthcare place is Mercy Medical office and lab building. But the hospital a mile away is a bad hospital. Their death count, septsis infection break out, poor service everywhere. Merscy St. Louis is big and well regarded and good numbers. They demote and/or fire bad doctors. Then the BJC! It's the Creme of the crop. 2 good hospitals merged into one of the best. I don't wait till I need one for something to check. I just do it every 3 or 4 months. It works.

@@tracyhaverstick5672 This is GREAT advice that I hope people follow! It could literally save your life to be prepared. When the incident happened to me, being sick and hospitalized was not even something I thought about. I was 55 at the time and had always been healthy. Except to give birth, I had never been hospitalized. (I never even had a broken bone.) I was happy, healthy, vivacious, social, attractive and productive with an good career and excellent references from every employer with whom I worked. I was also a homeowner. I now am the exact opposite...all due to the PTSD and damaged organs that resulted from the medical error that sent me to my death bed (the offending doctor abandoned me when this happened. I was told by the hospital's nurses that they called him multiple times and he did not respond. ) I went to see an attorney after I was released from the hospital; however, because I was unaware of the permanent damage to my heart and kidneys and other organs, I was told I had no case. When things came to light about the damages done to my organs, the statute of limitations had expired... so this doctor not only got away scot-free, he also was paid by my insurance for causing my septic shock. There is literally nowhere for me to turn to get justice...this bothers me every day (that I suffer while he carries on practicing medicine...btw, he was quite elderly 10 years ago when this happened...I can only imagine the damage he continues to do. While I was in the ICU, a doctor told my daughter I was the 5th patient that week that had to be put on a ventilator after having a procedure done at the same hospital as I did (it was a 'closed' hospital except for 'outpatient surgeries.') I live in a small community where 'they' have all the power and know and socialize with each other. What happened to me has been, and still is, shoved under the rug by any doctors I see. I can prove the 'care' I am receiving is subpar at best but no one cares and 'they' cover for each other. There is so much more that was done to me that I would have to write a book to fully explain and make it understandable. I can say this though...I now understand what 'the devil is in the details' means. It is so complicated and convoluted that one doctor told me that no one would read my medical fìle as it is too extensive. The septic shock incident alone totals 1,794 pages of medical records. It bothers me that the medical community is more concerned with protecting their colleague than to FIRST DO NO HARM. If not for God, I am certain I would already be dead.

The sad thing about Elizabeth’s story is that, as a mom and granny, I’d have suspected the ibuprofen immediately. I had a similar reaction to amoxicillin, which I’d taken all my life. WHY don’t doctors consider medication allergies? You really do have to take care of YOURSELF.

I knew the second one as soon as they mentioned the ibuprofen. I was on a med called Lamictal for bipolar disorder and luckily I had researched it. I was given a low dose when I was younger. It gave me a rash but worked well. Years later I was started at a dose 5 times higher and knew as soon as my fever was over 101 that I needed to stop because I am one of the few that had the bad reaction. Thank god i researched it and stopped the med.
