So far so good, like how they are following the story, and the acting fits.

This actor nails Saka's voice though.

My personal opinion - Episodes 1 & 2 are decent, from episode 3 it just dive bombs toward the ground. I wanted so badly for this show to be great, but I really did temper my expectations, and for weeks I've been giving myself the talk - you know how it goes... "It's not going to be scene for scene, they're making changes to the plot and the sequence of the order of events, it's going to be different and that doesn't mean bad"... The bending and fight choreography throughout is good, I really like Dallas James Liu as Zuko and Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Iroh, and I honestly didn't mind the acting from the kids. What I minded was some thoroughly baffling decisions as far as story goes, Looping in season 2 plots midway through season 1 just so they could be like "Hey we did the thing! Did you see??? That means we understand what we're doing!" Or they drop plots in that if they had waited 2 episodes they could have had an easier time explaining, or changing certain plots that literally end up stone walling their own story progression so they can have one story beat appear on screen and then go back to trying to deal with the rest of the episode and it's like guys just slow the hell down!! We're not expecting you to include everything, just stick to the basics... Honestly it felt like a summary of Book one as told by a 5 year old as each memory pops into their head. The Last episode is alright, but damn it's a mission to get there. I'll stick to my annual re watch of the animated series going forward....

Gotta disagree though, like One Piece Live action is generally labeled as a good live action. And as bothe a One-piece manga/anime fan and Atla animation fan. ONE Piece live action did a lot more changes and condensation where a lot mote plot point are lost and aren't able to salvage those story beats in some way. Avatar on the other hand changed less in general and with the things they missed mash they still was able to find ways to retain plot points that could have been lost due to the condensation of the story. So in general ATLA did a better job at adapting source material .ore closer to the source than One Piece did. And if One Piece is considered to be like a really hood Live action adapatation then ATLA is basically one too then.

@@Snzn18 I agree with you about the overall changes in the One Piece adaptation, but I feel that on an episode by episode basis atla did a worse job of pacing their story out, and there is considerably less content to manage. Almost like they were afraid of how much they cut so they scrambled to cram content back in, episode 5 has way too much going on... I'm not going to get spoilerish, but a good 60% of that episode had no business being there, they could have had a more concise story that flowed into the next episode effortlessly. Which btw episode 6 was a great episode, but again the first 10 or so minutes almost gave me whiplash. The rest of the episode does a great job of expanding on what was already there

I kind of agree yet I ALSO think the acting got way better by then and characters acted more like what we expected. However, the plot and stuff they did show or do with it just didn’t work well. Oh, and ofc Roku was NOT like his character, sadly….
