Identification of Epithelium based on Layer: - Simple Epithelium: Look for a single layer of nuclei. - Stratified Epithelium: Look for more than one layer of nuclei. - Pseudostratified Epithelium: Look for two layers of nuclei, with cells of varying heights. 4. Types of Epithelium based on Shape: - Squamous Epithelium: Cells are flat and elongated. - Cuboidal Epithelium: Cells have equal height and width. - Columnar Epithelium: Cells are elongated, with greater height than width. 5. Identification of Epithelium based on Shape: - Squamous Epithelium: Look for flat and elongated nuclei. - Cuboidal Epithelium: Look for round nuclei, centrally placed. - Columnar Epithelium: Look for vertically oriented oval-shaped nuclei, often in the lower part of the cell. 6. Examples of Epithelium: - Simple Squamous Epithelium: Found in lung alveoli, endothelium, endocardium, mesothelium, and parietal cells of Bowman's capsule in the kidney. - Simple Cuboidal Epithelium: Found in thyroid follicles, smaller ducts of exocrine glands, and the outer surface of the ovary (known as germinal epithelium).
