I am a happy and satisfied owner of a pair of EPOS 14. I bought them in the early nineties. Unfortunately, one bass driver no longer works properly. My speaker didn't get damaged by itself, but because of someone's carelessness.. Can it be serviced or replaced, and where? Otherwise, they are excellent speakers, today on the market anything similar costs incomparably more and the question is what you bought, how long will it last and when will you get tired of it, so I would be very happy to try to save them if possible.
These speakers creep up on you. When one first sits down and listens they sound flat and boring. Nothing seems to stand out, no WOW factor. But as time goes by, the tracks are played and the listener relaxes into the MUSIC they start to hear it and understand. Pace. Rhythm, Timing. Cohesiveness. Detail. Vocals. Piano. Strings. The naturalness of it all. The midrange out of these speakers (where most of the listening is done) is outstanding. Hard to beat.
True that!! I recently got a better amp (B&K Ex-442) and preamp NAD 1155 and external DAC, Schiit BIFROST - and man CD sound so good, I am collecting them again… and Vinyl sound amazing too, if the recording was done right, I would say better than CD even!! Cheers!!!
@@rompstar the kind of speakers that reward the listener as the electronics are upgraded. Maybe down to having no crossover to get in the way except a capacitor to protect the tweeters, and custom drivers to match the cabinet design.
@@rayhunter7371 the tweeters are custom on mine, I designed my own baffle 3d printed and put in a new tweeter, and actually I can design them for many tweeters as long as they fit the space ;) perks of having busy hands
@@rompstar I'm not sure what's currently available, but once I get home/ in front of my computer, I'll look around online. I'll get back to you on this.
@@rompstar Geez, you're right - I just took a look, and they're not as easy to find as they once were. If you can find any open-frame stand at about 20" height, and with relatively suitable width and depth, go for that. In the meantime, I'll keep looking.
@@BadMonkeyFinger_Audio thanks for spending the time researching / I watched some videos on this and now I understand what you are saying, I will be on the look out for stands like this in the future.
@@hamzatatta952 I strongly recommend you bi-wire, it’s like another level of life these speakers have… even if you don’t have bi-wire on your amp, you can get cables that split / it does make a big difference… and the cables don’t need to be crazy expensive, I think I paid like $65 for my set.
