I see many complained about power supply issues in epson 5040 projectors do you experience any problems with the power?

You notice any difference between the new and old one? Mine just show time to replace but still look decent

Yeah the new one was a lot brighter, since the brightness declines slowly you get used to the difference but it's noticeable when you go to the new bulb, also I replaced it because I don't want the bulb to blow as it can cause damage to the projector

I have 1600 hours on my bulb. Thinking of replacing do you think a new bulb will be noticeably brighter? It seems dim when I zoom out to 2.35:1. I've ran it high mode the whole time.

Yes, though maybe wait for black friday sales, might be able to get a new bulb for cheaper. A good rule of thumb is that bulbs will lose half of their brightness by half the rated lifespan. So if it should last 3000 hours after about 1500 hours the brightness will be about half. I am at about 4000 hours on my second bulb, I run on low, and it is time to replace it because the brightness is noticeably worse now.

@@F5alconsHouse good to know. I'd like to just get about 25% more brightness and then when I watch 2.35:1 and zoom out to fit the screen it won't look so dim. 16:9 content still look pretty good though in high mode.

What happened that made you replace the lamp? Mine was on and playing a movie and it just went dark, lens cover got activated, lamp light turned on orange and On light started flashing blue with the fan running at full speed. I hope is the Lamp, I don’t remember the hour count, but it’s the original. Hope you can let me know your symptoms. Thanks!

Expected lifespan for me, it starts warning at 4500 hours.

Oh so you did get a warning.. mine didn’t. I took the map out and there is a clicking sound when I move it but I don’t see a broken bulb or wire. I hope it’s the lamp and not something else.. thanks for replying

@@F5alconsHouse Will do, but first I want to make sure the issue is the lamp. Need to troubleshoot a bit more, unless I can return the new lamp if it turns out that’s not what’s wrong after installing.. Ether way, I’ll post an update.
