Has Epson fixed the maintenance box? I have an ET-27050 with the same maintenance box. I've replaced it with a new one along with the felt pads inside and there is NOWHERE you can find how to reset the printer to tell it you have an "empty" box now. I've called Epson and sat on hold in the "hamster-wheel" call going from department to department to try to find out how to reset the printer all to no avail. The reps all come back saying that the printer needs servicing. The local service repair center they recommended in my area admitted it's just a key code on the printer that's needed but he wouldn't comment further. He quoted $75 to reset even after having a new box/pads installed. Otherwise, it looks like you're doomed into paying $10 USD to source a code online through the many reset code providers. This is bullshot on how Epson holds you captive. Why is it all printer companies seem to go out of their way to p!$$ off their customers????

Epson ET 3850 has a design issue, that it took triple actions (click the Power button, then the right arrow button, then the OK button) and looking at a tiny screen every step of the way to locate the buttons which also requiring in a brightly lited room to turn the machine off. Fat figures would be out of luck.

Something my mother is concerned with, is the document scanner (adf). She doesn’t care about speed. But all documents she receives are double sided. It’s the standard for bank details, legal notices, etc. Can the Adf do that?

I am looking to purchase this ET3850 to replace my Epson R200 printer which I got like 20 years ago which recently died. The R200 printer I have one of those ink system which I paid an extra $50 for that feed it ink. This is where Epson and other companies got their ink tank ideas from. What is surprising to me is that when I compare the specs of the R200 versus the ET3850, which is about 20 years different, the R200 have better print quality and speed. Is that right?

Yes any printer that has a printhead will get dried up if usage is too low, for an extended period of time.

I do not think 2 sided scanning works from ADF. I just got this exact model printer couple of days ago and tried 2 sided scanning from ADF but it didn’t work. Can you please confirm it indeed worked for you? (Note: 2 sided scanning works if we don’t use ADF and use glass scanner instead as printer prompts if we have more pages and so we will be asked to insert new paper or other side to scan)

It does double sided scanning from the ADF. BUT not automatically. You have to scan one side, flip the page, scan again and by doing it manually you can a billion page document. From the ADF. This is unlike the WF-3640 that does two sided scanning from the ADF automatically without the need for intervention.

The application should allow for two sided scanning. The 4850 has an automatic document feeder on the top and one other spec better than the 3850.

Hi Brandon, please answer this. I need help with my brother MFC J6945DW which has exact same menu system as MFC J 995DW and I'm not able to perform head cleaning. When I select that option printer error message pops up but it in fact prints the print quality check sheet. I can perform print command wirelessly but every time I do head cleaning it says Printer Error. Print quality check sheet shows problem in all colours.

Your printer may have an error that is not allowing you to do the printhead cleaning.

@@BestPrinters Thanks for the response. I checked out your 4850 review video and it doesn't look like you can use a USB stick/drive, just a USB printer table to your computer. The 3850 has the same port and it doesn't do USB drives. The only model that looks like it can handle USB drives is the 5800.
