Just wanted to say thank you! I am searching for a nice printer for my artworks and I always find reviews with a lot of technical words that I don't fully understand because I'm no expert while your review shows the results which is way more useful to me! So thank you very much 🙏
Hi great review seems like its got all the features I want. I noticed you held up a A3+ paper, does it print that size as well or were you just showing the quality of the paper.
Considering that epson ink cost a lot, what do you think of compatible ink/cartridges? Are they worth using on this printer? Or is it better to buy the ET 2850 printer using epson ink?
Hi, tks for video!.. Is it still valid today as a photo printer? I'm looking for a good quality A4 with average ink management costs and XXl or at least XL tank. Obviously also the cost of the average printer. I would be grateful for your advice. Thanks in advance. Dunaverde Reportage
How is the quality of the CD/DVD disk printing? I have an older Epson Artisan 830 printer and it printed okay on the CD/DVD disks, but sometimes the colors seemed dull and muted on the disks even though they looked great on the computer. What is the size of the paper you held up that Epson sent you? Thanks
Thank you for sharing your views and photographs with this model printer, photographs are absolutely fabulous, this looks a really good quality printer. many thanks again.
Do you think this will print a solid colour well? I illustration portraits with solid coloured backgrounds so want to print on matt paper (non photo paper) - wondering how it handles?
Hi!! Did you find a printer that produces solid colours well? I’m also looking for a printer for solid colours and I use matte paper but not sure if this would be good for my needs.
Hello Geekanoids. I just purchased this printer for my daily photography prints. I just have one question and I would like to know if you could help me. How do you print black and white photos? I try to do it in the usual way, indicating in the printer settings to print it in grayscale but I get either very bluish or very greenish tones. Could it be a problem of configuration, of the program, of the paper that I use? What paper would you recommend for printing in black and white? Glossy, matte ... Thanks
Geeknoids. Got the Epson XP-970 but find the print colours are not as vivid (faded/pale) when compared to my computer screen shot or the actual subject. New cartridges & yes...the paper makes a slight difference but still need improvement. Can the software be 'tweaked' to dispence/discharge more ink? Thanks for reply.
Hello 😊 I have a question. I want to print HD-images for my artwork. I draw photorealism bút that doesn’t require to print an actual photo. The image has to be very sharp thought. So…should I be better of with an All-in-one printer or a photoprinter?
I have one of these. It prints beautifully in colour. Ink is very expensive, if you buy genuine Epson ink, for the number of prints you'll get from a new pack of 24xl : Around 30.
I looking for a printer for event photography, I usually print between 25 - 30 5x7 pictures and place them in folder frames to give to customers. My wife does craft work as well printing mainly 8x10
Hi i wat tinking of buying this. Since it does a3- and it dont cost to much. Not doing photos tho. Im doing dekals on almost photo paper but like sticers. There are up to 4 singel colors on them. Is there a nothere printer that you can recomend for me? I will use a LOT of ink also paper i cud have bigger sheet as well. But not shure. I did it on a Cheap the cheapes HP printer out there it was 39gbp it even that the ink kost more than it does almost.. And i had refill inks. But the problem was bad prints and a fight getting the refills to work and not say there empty. So shall i buy this one ore get a nothere one. thin i can get this one for 250gbp around there.
I don’t know if you know but what setting would you suggest for glossy sticker paper? As I am having trouble with the quality of my images and I just want to know if there is a particular setting for that. Appreciate any advice 😊
I tend to print in fits and starts. How resistant is the printer to clogging up with ink if you leave it for a few weeks? Nice video otherwise however.
Having seen your review I decided to buy the XP-970 but then saw some very bad reviews that suggested the ink cartridges did not last long and caused problems when changing them. Having had you printer for some time now, are you still as pleased as you were when you first got it and do you still recommend it?
Thanks for the great video! Bought the printer just a few weeks ago. The only problem i have at the moment is that i can not find any icc - profiles for the printer and original Epson paper. So at the moment i am not able to do softproofing in lightroom. When i print to matte paper from lightroom without adjustments, the print comes out low in contrast and saturation. Do you have any suggestions what i could do? How did you print your pictures shown in this video? Via Lightroom or just from a jpg file? Thanks!
Do you still have the printer? I want to buy it too, but I'm not sure yet. How many fine art paper are there with the right icc - profiles for the printer? And are the prints true to color? I am a photographer and next year I'll study graphic design and book art, so I would need the printer for my art works. Thanks!
I've got one of these which I bought from Ink Express. I've had a lot of trouble with it. The prints are good but no better than those from my old and beloved Epson R265. I've had printers for decades but the XP970 was difficult to set up and cost me the best part of £50 in phone calls to Epson and Ink Express. I'm running it with Ink Express' refillable cartridges, they said it should settle down in time but it frequently stops, saying "cannot recognise ink cartridge" and I have to click the cartridge out a bit and click it back in again. I wonder whether Epson programme the machine to do this if one isn't using their cartridges. Head cleaning is required frequently and the maintenance box fills quite quickly, requiring replacement. A lot of banded prints have ended up in the woodburner. The wifi connection is nice when it works but has dropped out several times. Overall I'd give the machine a score of about 50 out of 100 and I don't think I'm being unfair. If the excellent R265 was still available I would buy one today and run it with a continuous ink system like my old one.
@@geekanoids Thank you, but even then the cartridges are small as you mentioned in your review and don't last long if one is printing photos. I was surprised how quickly the set of Epson cartridges supplied with the new machine ran out. I would consider a six colour Ecotank but apparently you can't replace the waste ink box yourself when it's full. It seems Epson are determined to prevent one getting reasonably priced printing long term.
Hi, I know this is an old video but I have just purchased this printer and it seems to be printing all of my colours in a muted tone (not very vibrant - my £30 hp is brighter and matches my image 90% more) I can't believe that it's that bad, is there a setting somewhere I am missing? Or something you may be able to suggest from experience? Thanks in advance.
@@geekanoids I'm in between those two. The XP970 has Light Cyan and Light Magenta, but the ET7750 has extra Photo black I thought the XP970 would have better color, but is ithat so? YOu sned the XP970 back,... did you keep the ET7750?
I bought this printer recently. I like it overall but I have problems in getting the right size print and I simply can't get the printer fo print from cassette #1 It' kind of frustrating, to say the least. But yes the print quality is very very good. Rudi Densch
Hi mate, I'm in the process of buying a printer to help me with my art, especially when it comes to reducing and enlarging my sketches. I realise this printer does print in A3, but I want to know is (although I'm guessing that the answer is no), could I use the top panel to photocopy/or enlarge an A4 size drawing onto an A3 sheet of paper as the answer to this will determine if I'm going to buy it. It is at a decent price aswell. My only other option will be to go for the Brother MFC-J6530DW which does allow you to photocopy onto A3. Your advice would be really appreciated, I apologise for my lack of knowledge as printers and copiers is really uncharted territory for me and as these are a considered purchase, I don't want to buy the wrong time. I'm also going to get myself a decent camera so I can take my own reference pics to help in my artwork, so these machines will really be helpful for that purpose too. Thankyou for your time mate.
@@geekanoids That's OK mate, to be fair I did message you a year after you'd put the video up, so I was taking a chance. After watching a few more videos I think I will get that Brother model that I mentioned, the actual scanning screen is A3 and it also has a paper feed tray located at the rear of the machine that can take different types and most importantly, different weights of paper so it's a positive on all fronts. I use a light weight paper for my initial sketches (100gsm) and then I'll use a heavier weighted paper for the final drawing, but what thickness or weight of paper it can take, well I shall find out after I bought and tried it out. At almost £300 it is a considered purchase but sometimes it's worth forking out that bit more, and if it ticks all the boxes then I should get my money's out of it. Thankyou mate for taking the time to reply back, take care buddy and all the best to your channel and your photography too.
Hello! Can you confirm that the XP-970 can print on (A4/A3) 300 g/m² paper? I'm searching for specific info but I still haven't found that... and how many prints can you do with a color pack? it's not very cheap... I am evaluating the idea of whether to buy this or the ecotank ET-7700 (the uo to 300 g/m² grammage is specified in the technical sheet) thanks in advance
Thank you for this video. I was looking for a good ink jet printer that works under Linux. The previous one behaving horribly and having too many issues. I'm feel so happy to now have a great printer. It just works out of the box. After unpacking it and connecting to the wifi it just works. It prints amazing images. I started printing photos again as you suggested. Printing A3 actually works out of the box without any drivers thanks to Airprint / IPP anywhere support.
Hi, can you tell me how this printer performs if not used for a week. does it get blocked easily does it require regular cleaning, your advise is appreciated.
Hi, I’m looking to buy a photo printer to start selling prints of my artwork and there’s just way too many options out there. Would you be able to advise a printer to a beginner who is looking for high quality prints with a budget around £250-300. I understand printer paper is part of the equation, but assuming I use traditional standard A4 paper (although I likely won’t be) what kind of printers are available for someone like me?
I’ve browsed through your playlist dedicated to printers and still find myself a little lost and overwhelmed by the vast number of options. But I will be satisfied with links to your suggested models, or an in depth description or video comparisons should you have the time. Anyway thank you for creating great instructive content, keep up the hard work. It’s really beneficial to us all👏🏽😊
I am not sure of the current pricing and n this model. It highly recommend it. I would consider this or any model from the Expression Photo range that fits your budget.
I was pretty disappointed with this thing. Got lines through everything I scanned and exchanged it and still had the problem! I didn't want to believe such a nice looking printer with all these features could perform so poorly. Going to return it.
hello @geekanoids i really like your reviews on this printer but its not available in India can you please help me find a similar printer like this one which is available in India. i like to use for followings : 1. upto A3 prints 2. daily graphic printing for personal work (quality testing) as i'm a graphic designer. 3. photo printings for personal collection Cheers (Y)
Which printer do you prefer, the xp 970 or 15000? I keep changing my mind & I can’t find any decent comparison reviews. I’m no tech expert so I rely on honest reviews from people that know their stuff.👍
The title states, 'Epson Expression Photo XP-970 A3 Photo Printer Review’ at no time was there a demonstration on how to make the print fill the whole A3 paper. So not impressed!
