It’s actually rules of evidence and the constitution that prevents prosecutors from making any such list public. If the list were released, it’s possible guilty individuals could escape prosecution on a claim that releasing the list had such a prejudicial affect that the individuals now cannot get a fair trial. You also have an issue with speculation due to not having evidence for the reason any particular name is on the list. Perhaps the list was made for falsely accusing someone for the purpose of extortion. Now an innocent victim is wrongly defamed and the government could be held liable for very large money claims. There are too many unanswered questions about that list. And the defendant, Ghislaine, is not trustworthy to believe given her motivations to lie in exchange for a deal. As much as we all want justice you have to be careful in the methods used to seek it.

If the person refuses to give consent for a search the officer has the option to detain the vehicle until a search warrant is obtained to search it. That process has to meet probable cause standards and if it is not met, anything seized during that search is inadmissible evidence and the case is dismissed. If the person is arrested there must be an illegal activity to justify the arrest. If the arrest is illegal then any search of the vehicle is also illegal. So, pay those parking tickets and you won’t be arrested and your vehicle will not be impounded or searched. Gangsta…..

I turned myself in to the police because of outstanding parking tickets (no parking spaces at work) added up to be around 2800.00 (i know, i know) I took my holiday in jail. At the time I noticed a man who was on watch, because he said he was going to hurt himself. I asked the guard if he would be ok....the cop told me their is no way to for him to hurt himself because the police checks on him every 5 minutes and besides that every thing in the cell was made from paper that is designed to rip apart under stress. To answer their inquiries about investors and donors giving input on research; yes, donors most often want certain findings from the research and will sometimes threaten researchers with defunding or worse if they do not publish findings consistent with the donors' pursuits and goals. It's an investment to many, not just funding research. I've had to deal with this shit about a dozen times over the past 8 years and it's infuriating.

When a scientist/investigator writes a grant for funding, it is incumbent upon both the investigator and the approving organization to ensure documentation on exactly how that money is spent. That being said, I imagine that poorly written grants get approved that vaguely outlines funding.

I don't generally feel Joe is naive on subject matters but not realizing that funding has so much impact on decisions in research is incorrect. Having done university and other research projects funded by universities as a professor I can say money talks like a megaphone. Look at the history of research for medication, global warming, and renewable energy. The University that initially was funded to take all the information globally and do a meta-analysis on global warming ended up very dependent on the funding and that influenced how the data was analyzed. Statistics are not only influenced by the data available but what data is used and what is not. If I have 50 data sets each representing a specific impacting variable and the research team decides one set is not acceptable, valuable, or feel that data bias exists they can exclude that data and the results can be slightly or significantly changed. Stating that medical research, scientific, academics, government budgets are not influenced by money is short cited. Our daily lives are impacted massively by the manipulation of data. Every major issue we face, including fuel prices that raise the cost of everything are manipulated and opinions made from how research is done and the information is reported. I could spend weeks discussing how everything we around us is based upon research information. If you don't think trillions of dollars for business, armed forces, state and federal budgets isn't swayed by that information you would be incorrect. If you are the researchers or the funding department that garners the research funding you are very aware of who butters your bread and bias exists at the subconscious level out. The entire last 3 years of covid should be enough to verify this.
