I agree with you but I think the magic ingredient is the cute european accept. Overall, perfect combination, cute face, cute voice and very good and informative content.
Stella is definitely my new teacher. She's calm, doesn't talk too fast, straight to the point. Most of these teachers on youtube are cool funny and all but sometimes you want to feel like you're in a class room where you trust that your teacher will help you get it. This is Stella for you. Whoever dislike her method and preferred commedy sessions is not serious about mastering the arts of music
This Sound Basics series is exactly what I needed. I've always fucked around with different settings and knobs when making my own music, looking up specific tutorials if I wanted to do a specific thing without necessarily understanding why it should be done. But I was too intimidated to actually sit down and learn the basics. This is completely reshaping how I'll approach mixing going forward. Thank you.
even though i know most of these basics and played with them for a while, i still want to watch all these episodes, because you explain so clearly that it shapes even clearer the knowledge i already posses. thank you so much!
I just understood more about EQ from this video than I have from asking questions over the last 20 years. I just gotta learn the part where I adjust it to get the best out of my listening experience. Thank You!
Stella you've made a perfect series for beginners. More please. Other instructors appear not to understand that beginners need even the most basic concepts and tools explained to them. They too often seem to assume the beginning pupil has some understanding of audio mixing that he or she does not yet possess.
Thank you very much, you made lot of things very easier to understand, I have watched tons of videos but none of them were so easier in explaining basics, you got very good graphics, Please keep posting the basics of Audio editing, thanks once again.
Thank you Stella, much appreciated. I really like how you took to time to use specific instruments and adjust their EQ so we could hear the differences. Like Glorian below, I'd love to hear your take on compression. EQ may be the most basic tools for sculpting sound, but compression is one of the most difficult to master - at least for me. Cheers.
Thankyou for these videos, I've been a music lover person but only recently discovered my curiosity for wanting to create it and I know next to nothing about the basics of sound so i'm starting from the beginning.
So equalization (EQ) is a manipulation of amplitude in a specific frequency band, and compression is a manipulation (equalization) of amplitude by "averaging" over the entire spectrum?? Great videos!
love Stela tutorials - please cover all De Essers , Gane , attack , release , different between aux, bus, send etc as I can not see any better tutorials on the internet except you
Wow Stella, you do such a great job at making everything easy to grasp. I wish I had been taught like this when I first started learning about audio engineering. The instructors were very technical that I barely understood when they were talking about. I'll definitely adapt to your way of explaining things, and perhaps use your videos for the workshops I'll be having soon. I'll follow you on social media and everything.
From your explanation it made sense to have EQ applied on a mix of multi instruments. But what about a single instrument recording say guitar? When would you want to apply EQ on a single instrument?
Stella holds a great episode on this waves audio channel. I wish that she could demonstrate using the techniques she shows to mix vocals on a premixed beat, or a video of that sort could be done
What is distortion? I feel like I have an idea of it based on what I've heard, but I feel I am lacking in true understanding. Thank you for making this video. It was very clear and concise and made me finally have an 'aha' moment when it comes to understanding sound!
Enjoyed your video I’m a professional installer in Fort Lauderdale and I spent entirely too much time setting the E cues on speakers and obviously that’s tune to my ear. For general use to you have any EQ settings guides to start from obviously I try to do things so the music sounds good mostly what I’m installing as theater systems and the music is 30% of the use.Types of speakers don’t really matter because I use high-end equipment and I can use the crossovers to drive it to different speakers but just the EQ settings recommendations is awesome
I like that these overviews are only about 5 minutes. If I want something more in depth I can find that, too. As for this topic, EQ, now I know what it is and what the goal is, but how do you typically find the best settings? Is it trial and error of what sounds best or is there some other guide?
