Maybe it's time to start industrializing Quebec's north ......theres TONS of space....make them pick up the tab on some things. I'm not even an Albertan but I can see why they're pissed

Itsa Games I agree and so should all the other provinces start industrialization in the northern sectors along with construction of new cities. We are the second largest county in the world we have massive amounts of resources and the most lakes. But we only inhabit the border area and are to dependent on our southern neighbour. We have the ability to be a major power on the world stage.

Quebec has more resources then the rest , but chooses to not dig it up , or cut it down ,, they must be smarter then the rest of us eh ..

Quebec is better industrialized than Alberta which is resource based. To be better informed about the equalization program, please watch the following video and verify the facts it reveals with the very detailed bibliography which has been placed at the end of the video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-j0N2VKWSfqM.html

Quebec is not sitting on an oil slick like Alberta , if Canada would leave us the money from hydro Quebec (a company for which Canada has never done anything) well believe me that we would be very happy ,,, that would make one less reason for English Canadians to hate us

This leads to infighting and some of the main arguments for separatism come from this “provincial welfare” system.

They should scrap it. It’s a great idea at heart but the execution really depends on how the provinces act. This is just not needed anymore.

This has nothing to say about the extra expenses incurred by developing resources and how the burden of maintaining infrastructure is a massive NECESSARY drain on provincial economies. The building of Alberta's highway infrastructure has limited development in other parts of the province because the roads were needed for oil and gas to get to market and therefore vital. We JUST BARELY twinned a vital highway to the north. We are finally addressing the southern loop and AG needs for better infrastructure. The federal government divides our revenues before accounting for these major costs. Pipelines and highways are both infrastructure but in resource economies they are the only way to move your product and can't be compared with non-resource provinces that don't have to really worry about having top grade roads out into the middle of nowhere.

Ontario is considered one of the more productive provinces, we paid the MOST into equalization since 1961 when it was implemented, more than $700 billion. And what is the result for the "have-not" provinces? Has it helped them? Of course not. And here's the problem with the idea of "equity": it tries to uplift everybody to the same amount of wealth that, hypothetically the advantaged demographic has. It doesn't reward provinces for the contribution to the GDP of the union. Why should a person who creates more for the economy earn the same amount as somebody who creates less? The like-dislike ratio on this video must have been reversed by RU-vid with their collaboration with the Canadian government.

Nikita Gloukhovtchenko the sad thing is we have the capacity of getting ourselves out of debt and beyond. But we have been halted from progress by the bureaucratic parties and institutions. In which only seem to hinder us at the first chance. 70 year ago we had the 4th largest navy in the world and one of if not the strongest army known at the time we have the most untapped natural resources out of any country. Our nation is the second largest in the world. And we use none of this to our advantage. It is my firm belief that with the right leadership we have the capacity of becoming a superpower.

The problem is that western provinces like AB and SK get other forms of transfer payments that limit their long-term economic growth. Remove that and we'll talk. The GTA has third world country public transit infrastructure and insane amounts of public debt. I understand the individualist mentality behind your comment and I personally have more of a collective vision. However, I think saying that someone in Alberta creates more is disingenuous if you're talking about merit. The wages and salaries are higher because the economy relies on oil and gas and their current value. It's not that Albertans are more productive, it's that they live above a gold mine that is slowly losing value as time goes by. Ontario's economy has slowed down considerably in the past few years especially compared to Quebec. I think perhaps since Ontario is on the decline, they will require some help from emerging strong economies like Quebec. Everything dies off at some point and we're all riding the moment.

Equalization of services? Let's take a real example instead of playing the shell game. A hip replacement. In Quebec, 50% are conducted within 97 days and the remainder is no more than 237 days. In BC it's 15 months. I'm not seeing the equalization of services here. And that's only one example. Equalization payments should be treated like alimony to the have-not provinces. To be realistic give them ten years to get on their feet, after that, they're off the dole. Use the "Teach a man to fish" analogy. The current calculation is seriously flawed and is bent in the have-not favor, especially Quebec.
