I downloaded the trial and played around with this for 5 minutes...then I went and bought it. That was THE shortest evaluation time I've ever needed to find out if a plugin is worth my time or not. This thing is INCREDIBLE. Well done!

I tested Equalizer for 3 days both against the competition and my own static parametric eq'ing and it totally blew me away. Equalizer came out on top by a long shot. Not only that, I can apply the same settings to recordings that have very different issues and it 'repairs' them all to a standard that I'm super happy with. Congrats and thanks to the people at Wavefactory.

This plugin is truly magic, it is like an all in one go to seasoning. I love my iZotope plug-ins but this equalizer is a game changer. The passion and hard work that was put into this is apparent once you hear it in action on your own mixes.

@@LunaRealized Of course, each person is entitled to use the tools they are most comfortable with. I've used Pro-Q for a long time and, to me, there's room for both tools. You certainly can accomplish the same task with other EQs but this does 90% of the work and saves lots of time spent doing surgical EQing. The less time I have to spend chasing down a troubling frequency = the more locked into the creative process I am. It's great that you already have a workflow you enjoy, though!

Not to take anything away from this plugin, it’s awesome and quite unique but it’s not the first of its kind. Gollfoss EQ has been out for a few years now and has the same function but the target EQ is more curved like a song than aiming for flat. It’s a great plugin but also costs twice as much as Equalizer. I went with Equalizer and am very happy with it. Trackspacer is also amazing, definitely check that one out too if you haven’t already
@phladjki

Immediately I must compare it to Gullfoss. It’s hard to know for sure without a clear description, but Gullfoss uses some analysis which finds frequencies which are masking frequencies above them and reduces them or boosts the masked frequencies. This is more like: there’s a target spectral curve we’re trying to EQ our sound toward. It’s possible these end up being similar EQ targets, but I suspect gullfoss is more nuanced and leaves the sound more “as-is” and mostly tamps down frequencies that are sticking out more than they should. This on the other hand is a coarser tool - and is trying to get the spectrum to be balanced regardless of masking or relationships between local EQ bands.
@pasc1977
@pasc1977 Год назад
I now have both, and on a quick comparaison, I think that Gullfoss is doing a better job (to my taste) for a whole mix but for single tracks, Equalizer is superb, a really nice plugin to have in our tool box! ;)

No, Soothe suppresses the resonances and it's like a thousand band or something ridiculous like that. Gulfoss confines the music to a curve that is proven to translate well on good speakers. This is 32 band upward and downward expander that tries to minimize the difference across the frequency spectrum. Not confining to any specific curve and not removing any resonances.

@adithyasatheesh127 Год назад
@@tendingtropic7778 I can't speak for you. It would depend on what you want the track to sound like. If removing resonances or confining it to a curve is your intention, this wouldn't do it. If the effect of flattening the curve is what you are looking for or plan to do something else after flattening the curve, this is a good option I'd say. It makes the process easier with having to tweak just one knob rather than having to set up a Multiband eq or compressor and tweak or the settings manually.. I'd use it on an overly bright or dull or honky sound to essentially inverse eq it and then eq it the way I want after.

I agree with the usefulness and specialness, but to me precision tool means I know exactly what the plugin does and have very precise control over it. With this one I'm not sure what it actually does and I can't use it linearly and expect it to behave the same every instance. Don't take me wrong, I love plugins that have only few knobs and sound this great, just that I can't call it a precision tool per se.

Now its a difficult point, how much more of theese type of intelligent EQs I want to collect :D I love the approach and I want to see and own every type of realizing it in a plugin. so is it trying to make all audio match the 'white' or 'pink noise' spectrum? (ur friend said he is literally "equalizing" to make everything even) im very curious what u mean by "it's not trying to match a pre-defined curve".
@wavesfactory
@wavesfactory Год назад
This plugin, on its conception, wasn't designed to match any noise spectrum or predefined EQ curve. Or at least, that wasn't my intention. Meaning that the algorithm behind it is not saying "here's the curve I want, here's the curve I have, let's calculate the difference and apply it". The algorithm that drives Equalizer doesn't rely on anything external. It only uses the incoming signal itself to figure out what is needed and what needs to be cut. Having said that, I did find out that the corrections the plugin performs do resemble the pink noise spectrum. And I think that was a happy accident. Pink noise can be found in nature and it's a very pleasant sound. I think that's one of the key features of Equalizer as it makes your tracks sound more organic, balanced and natural.

@machineagevoodoo2106 Год назад
Its interesting, but mixing isn't about making individual sounds great and full sounding, its the exact opposite in many ways; to shape and carve out frequencies in each sound to make them paint a full picture as it were, together. Having a mix of full sounds creates a busy, muddy song with instruments masking each other. I can see some nice use cases though, like a lead vocal perhaps. But generally speaking, a sound must be eq:d with context to the rest of the song, not to itself.
@wavesfactory
@wavesfactory Год назад
If you think that the way to use this plugin is to insert it on each track and on the master and you're done, then that's not correct. As you say, mixing is about creating space for each element. This plugin will remove a lot of the repetitive tasks that are done in order to prepare the tracks for mixing. It will remove unwanted resonances, it will bring back buried frequencies, it will tame harshness, etc, it will prepare your track in order to later be mixed.

Just tried the demo.... sounds good. One slight improvement/feature request, a short cut to reset all the drawn in nodes, rather than having to double click reset each one individually? May be this could be a future classic plugin like Trackspacer. :)
