This video will show you how to change the front turn signals for your Chevrolet Equinox or GMC Terrain, which is one of the harder bulbs to change on this car without removing the front bumper. But if patient and careful, it can be done. It can be accessed from the top, just underneath the hood. It should cover model years 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017. The model used in this video is a 2015 Chevy.
The below links are Amazon Associate links, in which I get a small commission if a purchase is made, at no cost to you.
Here are some bulbs, if you need them

7444 LED - amzn.to/3wtZu1X
Turn Signal Resistor (for LEDs) - amzn.to/2Yk2xKo

Thanks for the video, I found a little secret to get that bulb cap out. There are several slots in the cap. 2 have no wires in them. A slotted screwdriver works well to turn that cap; bot in and out.😊

Awesome tip. I would just warn any one who reads this to be careful, as to not slip and damage one of the wires or caps that are installed. Otherwise, definitely a great tip for those looking to change these bulbs. They are in such a difficult area!

thanks for posting this - very helpful. A couple of things I found as I tried to change out both front signal lights. One, I had the right bulbs - but they were white light not indicator orange as per the ones I removed. So, be aware of that. Both front signal lights are ccw to remove. I have a 2012 equinox .. has the access hole in the wheelwell , I managed to get one hand working the lamp base from the access hole and the other hand over top of the front grill and with a good deal of effort and patience - and turning it the right way to remove it - it worked. Difficult noma tter what way you do it. Bulb replacement should be relatively easy. A design that requires the operator to be a contortionist and allowing insufficient room to grasp the lamp base to turn it shows just how much thought Chevy put into ease of maintenance and repairs of their vehicles. That said, I am more than happy with my old Equinox - been very dependable and fairly cheap to run. Does however, like to use more synthetic oil than I think it should. But again overall, very happy with the vehicle and the reliability it has given me for a good number of years. Good luck .. remember to turn the lamp base the right way .. ccw to remove .. cw to install .. about a quarter turn. The notch on the opposite end of the lamp base from the wires is a good indicator for locating the start position when you are putting the lamp back in. With the lamp installed the notch is horzontal to the lamp base. When you move it a quarter turn to remove it .. the notch is in the vertical plane with reference to the lamp base. Good luck!

I couldn't get the drivers side bulb out from the top so I took off the 4 fasteners from the wheelwell and tried to get it from the bottom and couldn't. (my 2015 does not have the wheelwell acces panel) What worked like a charm was one hand from the top and one from the bottom. (Had to remove the headlight cover). I was able to get two fingers from each hand on it and rotate it pretty easily. Helps to turn the wheel all the way to the right as well. I recommend this method for those of use with larger hands. LOL!

Why not loosen the headlight assembly from the top? A couple of screws to loosen. Pull the headlight up/out a bit, it gives more wiggle room to extract and install the turn signal bulbs.

Hey hello hello I need to know the trick with popping the bug out of the socket once you get it out of the car is there a secret to pop that book out to pull another one in
@NexusAuto
@NexusAuto 3 месяца назад
No trick in particular, they just pull right out. But they're hard to pull out, you need to give them a firm pull. And sometime they can even get stuck in there, which makes it harder to remove. Try wiggling them side to side as you pull the bulb. Hopefully that does it

Which way do you twist to unscrew it? I’ve tried twisting both ways & it just isn’t budging.
@NexusAuto
@NexusAuto 2 года назад
Yeah, I get that. It is literally the hardest bulb to change on this entire vehicle! It's always hard to explain this as it's all about where you're standing. Ok, pretend your are facing the back of the headlight (like you are standing in the engine bay). It would turn clockwise. Hope that helps a bit
@Dechieftian
@Dechieftian Год назад
counter clockwise to remove. I found using a popsicle stick on the notches that have no wires in them - need to be careful .. if the tool slips it will damage the wire insulation. Pushing with a popsicle stick on the wiring site and moving the opposite end with the 'bite' worked for me. Once it moves it will easily go the quarter turn of travel to remove the lamp. Bon Voyage!

What could be wrong if you changed the bulb and the turn signal still isn’t working
@NexusAuto
@NexusAuto Год назад
Could be a few things. Could be the harness that you plug the bulb into, Could be the wiring. Is the other front turn signal working? What about the rear ones?

Please can someone tell me: Is the bulb lefty loosy to get it out? I can’t get it to budge either way. I’m wondering if it unlocks to the right or left to release it and get it out. Thanks.
@NexusAuto
@NexusAuto 5 месяцев назад
It is Lefty Loosy. But it's really hard to do, and you have to push in a little when doing it too. It's the hardest bulb to change in this vehicle by far
@Mocredible
@Mocredible 10 месяцев назад
Do you think using a pair of needle nose pliers or regular pliers work to grab and twist it out of the socket?
@NexusAuto
@NexusAuto 10 месяцев назад
A needle nose pliers may not, as it is thin enough, but may damage the bulb socket housing. A regular, but smaller pliers or locking pliers/channel locks would work. I've had it before where it was hard to turn and got a small channel locks I had in there and was able to turn it. It did but some small nicks into the socket housing, but hey, it worked great!
@Mocredible
@Mocredible 10 месяцев назад
Thanks man. I appreciate it. I got frustrated and just took my bumper off. 🤦🏽‍♂️ It was too much of a hassle for me. Lol
@NexusAuto
@NexusAuto 10 месяцев назад
@@Mocredible I hear that. It is singlehandedly the hardest bulb to change on these vehicles. SMH. Figures! Nice that you got it done!
@garydubiel5713

Went to a service station they tried and couldn’t get it out. I couldn’t get my big hands in there either. May try from video SMH. Why Chevy make a simple task so difficult?😢
@NexusAuto
@NexusAuto 9 месяцев назад
@@garydubiel5713 tell me about it. For such a simple, but necessary repair, it is needlessly complicated. But honestly, it's not just the General who is notorious for this. So many current manufacturers do this, and it makes things a giant headache!
@tedcohall7290
@tedcohall7290 2 года назад
What if the bulb doesn't want to come out
@NexusAuto
@NexusAuto 2 года назад
Honestly, hard to say what the problem is. It should come out, so if not, then something is jamming it. Also, being in such an awkward spot, it is hard to get leverage. If you have a thin pliers or channel locks, you could gently try and use those for leverage and try and twist, just be careful not to damage anything (I know, easier said then done). Otherwise, it has to be done the hard way...taking the whole front bumper off. That is the 'official' way from GM. Hopefully you can work something out.
@victorrivas1694
@victorrivas1694 7 месяцев назад
Manufacturers made that on purpose to make you pay at least $ 300 dlls to change a dang bulb!
@NexusAuto
@NexusAuto 7 месяцев назад
Very true! Simple things like bulbs and filters should be something any Car owner should do. Some cars manufacturers legitimately make you take off the front bumper to change a bulb! Absolutely crazy!

Haha well I've got average sized man's hands and....they don't fit lol. That's why I have to use my fingers as explained in the beginning. And I'm fully pressing my hand in on the metal frame when doing this. But I can see it being very troublesome for someone with bigger hands than mine. It's not a fun job one way or another.

It's the same on both sides, just accessing it oppositely. There isn't something different, same procedure to grab the bulb, and everything. Just have to mirror everything, essentially.
