If anyone was curious, the high current when the variac was being used is exactly why you do not undervolt AC motors - single or three phase. They will over-current until they burn out. If you want to control speed of an AC motor, you use a VFD, and a three phase motor ideally. However in this instance it's probably alright as it's a demonstration, but I still would never recommend doing it. Just figured I'd point that out, as some people don't know this.
I made a waste oil centrifuge using the smaller one in this video. Manley 10 , 110-120v 3.3A 60hz and I need to slow it down. Can I use one of those Amazon plug in blower speed controllers? Or do I need to wire in a cap or something. I already set the thing up and hoping not to have to take it apart.
@@David_Mash Check if it's a trailing or leading edge dimmer. If it is, you may be okay so long as it can handle at least 500w of power. If it just changes the voltage directly then no because you'll run into over-current issues.
@@liorb3494 I couldn't tell you exactly. Though if you're dealing with smaller single phase motors, with the appropriate LEADING-edge dimmer you can control the speed of them better than if you were to undervolt them. There are various installations where leading edge dimmers are used to precisely control fan speed. You must not use trailing edge dimmers though as they can damage themselves and/or the motors.
Those are for small bounce houses, the big ones resemble more of a furnace blower and are usually rated around 15 amps also I think their rated for 1/2hp or so conservatively.
@@HL4EHalfLife 3600RPM, and around 3450RPM allowing for slip. This is for 2 pole motors too. 4 poles run half the speed. you probably know this now, but figured i'd throw it in anyway.
Good video! I have a yellow FJ-25 that looks just like the one you tore apart, that I got at Goodwill for $12.99. It’s a 325 W model, therefore the motor isn’t quite as powerful as yours. It works fine (to a fault). Unless a friend of mine wants it, I’m returning mine to Goodwill. I originally got it to rapidly air dry things. Like I said, it works! But whatever I’m air drying needs to be nailed down. It knocked a vacuum cleaner dirt cup off the table, but miraculously it did not crack. Nevertheless, I don’t need a wind tunnel machine for my air drying needs if it means blowing stuff around.
Any idea where I can find a replacement blower? Everything is fine with the motor and outer part, but the blower / disc / fan / rotar blade is broken. I can’t find a replacement anywhere online.
I am in Birmingham Alabama and my dad and I Go to a car wash in Hoover has a big American flag and they used to have some industrial metal carwash flower go to car wash in Hoover has a big American flag and they used to have some industrial metal carwash blowers But now they replace them with some from Sonny’s car wash
Seem like the other ones are pretty strong and they move the new ones back a little bit from the exit and now I live in Mountainbrook because the school is better and there is a chevron here in a place called cahaba Heights and one time a car went through and before that I was in there and then I realized oh shoot there’s a car coming So I step to the side of the tunnel and then I decided to walk in there right next to the wall to where I want to get hit by the car and after the car left I went in front of the fans and Dan so I step to the side of the tunnel and then I decided to walk in there right next to the wall 12 wouldn’t get hit by the car and after the car left I went in front of the fans and dang I could barely stand I could barely stand up how about using one of those for a bouncy house I just realize it might blow up the bouncy house literally in tear it to shreds because it’s too strong or it Could just make it hard to bounce
I’ve always wanted a carwash blower and then now seeing this I want about i’ve always wanted a car wash blower and then now seeing this I want to bouncy house blower but now I think about it I want a bounce house blower But now that I think about it I might want to car wash blower instead or just burs but now that I think about it I might want to car wash blower instead or just both
It just has a lot more RPM than one of those motorized fidget spinners and it blows air I wonder what it would be like to be under the bouncy house when people are bouncing on it especially teenagers we’re grownups and also when it would be like to be on top when people are bouncing on it
so our bouncy house was operating fine with the stock blower for a couple years. We took it to a local park, and set it up. Life was good for about an hour, then we noticed the house couldnt maintain air anymore. So it was 1 of 2 things. #1... there might be a hole. I looked EVERYWHERE and could not locate any hole in the fabric. #2... something wrong with the blower. I took it apart, and it was completely clean of debris. Any reason there could be something up with the blower itself? Any way that I could check the blower? What would I look for?
Well these blowers spin pretty fast like 3000 to 3450 RPM's if you run it without anything on the blower the air coming out of it should be very strong (about the same as a leaf blower). Did you look for holes on the bottom of the bouncy house?
I've had this same issue with several blowers and or water slides. After awhile 1 blower will not keep the water slide blown up. Still haven't figured out if its the slides or the blowers.
Although it would be noisy how could this be modified to create a home/office cooling fan. Obviously compressed air is cooler so, adding a cone to the outlet would make the air cooler but how to spread it from their?
I would do that I wouldwant to do that But if I did that it would probably not get back together unless I had hoped you could just take that solid cover off and put like a screen on it so you can still see the blower
Explains why we didn't see you stunt racing today lol. How long ago and how old are those? And another cool video idea could be to try to liquid cool a motor and leave one with a heatsink on and compare current and temps
