Great Ideas Shawn. Even go so far to add a Generator for welding repairs to your equipment in the field. Wood was more expensive than a steel deck, but in the long run, it's an expense that will last quite a while. Good luck with your new trailer which looks great. Suggest you load the trailer keeping the weight on top of the twin axles and then you will have better balanced trim when towing. I know it may not be always possible but its much easier tow a balanced load than where it is either front loaded, where the weight is bearing down on the hitch, or rear loaded where it is pushing up the hitch. Please consider keeping it yellow, people are less likely to run into a bright yellow vehicle. Or perhaps white, another safer colour. Both show up well at night and against the black of road surfaces. Statistically they are about 10% less likely to be in an accident, and that is significant.

I like the yellow more and more every day. It's showing signs of use but I can touch those up.

Yellow ( im not a fan of white at all ) It's the official color of Matt's off road & recovery, including the Banana (Jeep) and the Morrvair. Not to mention we had a custom '83 3/4 ton Suburban in the family that was yellow as well.

Hey Shawn Definitely keep the trailer yellow, I think it stands out plus when people look they see your company name. This was an awesome build, was it cheaper to build one or just buy one?? Cheers Lee from the UK 🇬🇧

Hi Shawn, is your trailer now finished? And what sort of moveable winch are you going to use on this new trailer, as I think that it is really good that you took the time to build this one ☝️ and for it to look really good for such a practical piece of equipment.

What is the trailers registered GVWR? Just curious. Did you have to go and get it inspected to get it registered?
@GCFD
@GCFD 2 года назад
Robert the inspection was a joke. He took one look at the trailer and my paperwork and signed off on it. It has no registered weight as they didn't ask for one. I need to finish that video where I title it.

I think after a couple of years when the wood will be destroyed… you will go for steel deck. That will last forever. My suggestion will be to get at least one spare tire for the trailer. You can attach them on the front. Left and right.
@GCFD
@GCFD 3 года назад
My care trailer's wood deck is 15 years old and starting to deteriorate, so I hope to get 15 out of this one. Steel is just too slippery for me.

How did you go about getting it titled (ie) the VIN number I have always wondered about that process because I would like to build my own trailer as well
@GCFD
@GCFD 2 года назад
Are you in NC? What I had to do was take the trailer to the DMV for an inspection. I had all my receipts for the parts and materials. They looked at the VIN I had stamped on the trailer, looked at my paperwork and gave me the paperwork to title it. They didn't check a single thing with the trailer besides the VIN.
