where is the link to the receiver you bolted onto your trailer?
@NYTROeast

We did the same thing but with a 12000 lb and instead of a battery box set up we bought a dump trailer power cable kit and a permanent lumper cable set up and wired the truck front and back along with are tractor and a 4 ft cable to the winch Cables are just like what you used so all we to do is slide it into the receiver on the truck tractor or trailer and plug it in. The best thing I ever did

I’m not even 5 minutes into the video adding this comment. Great explanation, well put together video, what a way to get straight to the point. I just purchased a 20ft PJ car hauler and 12k lbs winch. I have little understanding about the charging system. After fast forwarding thru unnecessary footage in the 1st 10 videos I watched, this one is quite interesting. I’ll update later with results.

If you are adding a battery and solar panel and winch, you should also consider adding 2 led pod lights to help load a dead vehicle with no lights and to help light it up for strapping down a load in the dark.

Brock my friend, you are a Genius! With just "One Winch" your total Outfit is fully Equiped. Have a 22' hydraulic tilt deck trailer & it should of had a winch on it for the last 4 years. The silly thing "assends" to the sky at a 32° angle & is 9.5 feet high, and your tutorial could solve my loading procedure in inclement weather. Thanks for the great Video Sir and happy safe trailering.

Nice winch. On all my trailers I always have set up a Philips single pin power plug to run thick power wiring directly from my truck battery to the trailer battery. Most commercial truck/trailer sales will have the wires/pigtails/plugs. This way, you never have to worry about running your trailer battery down under load, as the truck alternator keeps it fully charged. Also an add on remote winch controller is well worth it. Have a great day.

Look into the Harbor Freight winch. We've got a 12k pound one that We've heavily abused for years now. Had it shut down from over heating(literally pouring water to keep it cool) dragging a lifted jeep Cherokee out of a 6ft creek ditch. It's dragged plenty of trucks up the bar style ramps with the wheels locked up. And it still keeps going. If you get lucky and find a return/open box you might can get it 50% off too. I was a diehard Warren guy until we got it. I still am with my bumper mounted one that I use very often, but for a trailer/tractor winch... I'll be going with the Harbor Freight one from now on.
@RockhillfarmYT

Thanks for sharing If I buy another one it will probably be from harbor freight. I probably will too. I would rather be running a 12,000 pound winch
@greenwoodsbushhogging6704

@@RockhillfarmYT they're cheap and I probably wouldn't use one constantly, but I'd definitely buy them for a trailer winch again. We just have a receiver on the trailers and cables that reach to the truck batteries. Not ideal, but saves buying 4 deep cycles and the charging system for them.
@RockhillfarmYT
@RockhillfarmYT 2 года назад
I have used this winch a few times on my other trailer and just ran the cable up. 4 battery setups would add up. Kind of what I was saying about having multiple winches. Might acquire them over time Thanks for sharing

I wonder if the seven plug wire charging system would work if you just got a female connector and put it on the trailer wire to the solar panel. So when you park the trailer you can just unplug from your bumper and plug it into that female plug on the trailer and it would automatically charge through that connection. That’s also a good way to keep your seven pin connector out of the dirt and out of the weather. Then when you hook it up to the vehicle vehicle can go ahead and charge it which is probably going to be a little faster but when you don’t have a vehicle you would be connected to the solar panel. 🤔
@RockhillfarmYT
@RockhillfarmYT 2 года назад
Sounds like it would work. If I’m not using the winch very often I think it’ll work like it is. If I started using it more I might need a better charging system
@ShaneZettelmier
@ShaneZettelmier 2 года назад
@@RockhillfarmYT I just like the idea of keeping the battery well-maintained. It sounds like you use it enough to keep a good charge on it though. But I also kind of like the idea of having a plug up under there or somewhere out of the weather so when my trailer is disconnected that seven pin plug is kind of protected and off the ground and out of the weather. Either way the way you’re hooking it up it’s still gonna work and you don’t have to worry about it. :)
@RockhillfarmYT
@RockhillfarmYT 2 года назад
I’d love to have a box exactly like the one on my dump trailer. It does keep the cord inside the box Might check some local trailer manufactures. It would just require a little bit of fab work to attach it
