I'm not even an amateur magic guy, but I love card magic and sleight of hand and just have to say that was the best tutorial I've ever seen. Very well done. Great job.

Gold man, pure gold! You teach better then the dvd's from penguin magic!!! I wasted money i wish i saw this first. You go into more detail. They should hire you to teach. Keep up the great work and thank you.

I 100% agree with every tip in this. Good solid stuff Albert. I hate how clunky many people are with this change, even some well known magicians are very lazy in their presentation of it, making the initial push forward WAY too obvious, as if it is justified and ok. It is not justified and should be hidden as much as possible to make the change look so much better. Spectators are not stupid.

I just had a big increase with the simple tip to pull the deck back, as opposed to pushing the top card forward. It looks so much better now.

It is great to see someone doing this move correctly on RU-vid at last! I almost thought i was alone.

I just watched some performances on youtube on erdnase change and they are akward.Now I change my whole erdnase and I started practicing yours with just a little bit space when I pull the second card.It looks more natural and nicer this way.Thanks!

Hi. Thank you. The first up and than down movement of the hand/palm is the essential key for this change... all other tutorials on YT do not provide this information. Your video combined that subject combined with the one Othmarius made is pure gold for erdnase change learners :)

Excellent video. I've never been at ease with this change because I performed it exactly as you described at the beginning of the video lol. I'm going to give it a try using your method.

additional subtleties: 1. rather than pushing the top card outward, pull the deck backward 2. variate your cover hand movement to make the change more magical

@ikmagic123 his name (Erdnase) is actually William Edgerton Sanders. Sinse his pen name is S.W Erdnase, it is quite likely that the S.W.E shift comes from his initials, if you know how to do the SWE shift, you follow how to do the card trick on his initials, which will put them in the order of W.E.S, and Erdnase backwards is Sanders.

Wow! How do you slide the second card back far enough to lift it over the top one when you are barely moving your hand back? This is incredible

I have an other tip: keep your hand curved and then when you hit the deck staighten it, so the pushing doesn't looks that obvious. it helps a lot

I think you should do this variation on theory 11 tricks/classic-color-change-jonathan-bayme.php . It has no push forward motion and it adds a little more credibility. In my opinion, it suits your style more!

Thank you very much ! That helps me a lot to improve my handling of the change. But i still have one problem : When i pull back the card below the top card with my hand, i sometimes pull two or three cards out( no, the cards are new, they don't stick together !). Could you help me with this problem, please ? Keep on doing the good work, man ! Greets from Germany

RU-vid lesson no. 1: Don't listen to the haters. Great video, kid. (I am a 50 disabled guy in Montreal learning magic to pass the time.) Your change looks great! Personally, I like the back and forth motion of the Erdnase, but hey, that's what makes horse racing. My question: what is that flourish at the end (5:03) where you spread the cards between your hands? Does it have a name and how (the hell) do you do it? Any reply appreciated and again, great video - keep up the good work!

I saw it done with the deck under the top card moved backward with the index finger, instead of the top hand moving slightly forward, so no one would ever see the move at all.

Go on theory11.com and search classic color change. it's free. its the Erdnase color change but instead of pushing up the card with your hand, you push back the deck with your index finger, that way the motion of pushing the card up doesnt show and in my opinion makes it look much cleaner.
@vanishy0urself
@vanishy0urself 9 лет назад
Or you do it the T11 way and use your left index finger to push the deck back, so the front card doesn't have to move forward at all. Yours looks great, too, but I'm used to the T11 way now.

+Jeffrey Tackett Yeeeeaaaaah, I know it probably originates from somewhere else, I'm ignorant on my history. Anyway, T11's tutorial is still a darn good resource for this move.

Albert's channel is about helping young magicians. The Erdnase change is a classic sleight, but often done improperly. These are his tips. Also, Albert agrees with you. If you took the time to look through his channel, you'll find this is the only time he will ever expose magic. The rest of his videos are entertaining live performances and valuable lessons in magic. So don't go off on your little vulgar tirade on any of his videos.

actually, the card should not be pushed forward, but the hwole deck should be pushed backwards by your index finger!

also to all magicians, lose the bounce motion, i see so many people do it, as well as the pass, dont "bounce" the deck....

DONT NEED ERDNASE WHEN YOU GOT ATOMS!!

You should not be teaching this change, you dont do it the way Erdnase published it. IF you actually READ card material, Erdnase states that you should use your left forefinger to kick the deck back except for the top card, so it looks like nothing is going on at all. You are not teaching it correctley. Very bad.
