People said they wouldn´t animate Eren injuring himself. They did not just animate it, they made it even more brutal and painful. Props to Mappa and Yuki Kaji, I could really feel Erens pain

Yuki kaji just doesn’t miss. You can hear the pain just from the grunts. Episode hasn’t fully come out for me yet but from the clips I can tell it’s a 10/10

In the manga, here they showed eren as if he could handle the pain of cutting his own leg and piercing his eye. In the anime, they really showed eren was actually hurt and suffering from doing it.

This helps us remember, no matter how strong character is - he's just a human, a human being that can feel pain

Props to Eren's JP VA (Yuki Kaji) those grunts while he was trying to cut his own foot and putting a bullet on his eye is just so good!

The fact that when Eren Cut his legs, he screamed in pain and fear and seeing him suffer just to infiltrate Marley's military really shows that he's tryong to achieve freedom even if he had to go through pain. Boy really went along way from being the weakest to one of the badazz character

The pain and suffering Eren has seen made him into what he is now. Props to Kaji Yuki for this amazing voice acting. 0:28 That face and grunt gives me chills.

Did you know, Yuki Kaji actually had to cut off his leg and his eye out to quote from Mappa "Add more realism to the episode" Don't worry he regenerated it right after.

In the manga it felt more like he was so crazy and determined that he didn't hesitate at all and went straight to the point. In the anime they made it feel way more painful.

I love the fact that Floch is in Erens happy memory. Eren probably loves Mikasa and Armin more but when people say that Floch is Erens pawn and he dislikes him it is a lie.

They made it so much more dramatic here, i can't believe IT'S HAPPENING. THE PAIN IS TOO MUCH

It shows how Eren is so damn dedicated to saving his island that instead of making a painless disguise, he made the most painfully realistic one he could make

I've seen a lot of fucked up gore in this show, but Eren cutting his own leg off is the most visceral.

Just the thought of the little knife going back and forth trying to cut through the leg bone, nerves, and flesh...Eren's willpower truly is amazing.

This shows Eren hates what he wants to do. He is cornering himself with this whole freedom thing, because if he were to actually kill his friends, he would never be able to live the with regret of that.

Man, Yuki Kaji is such a great Voice Actor. You can truly feel every emotion eren feels through just his voice acting. Itz truly so great.

Yo the fact that he has the ability to instantly stop that pain, but forces himself to go through with it, just shows his strong mindset. Imagine not shifting. It would be like jumping out of a tall building but instead of landing on the safe soft mat you decide to break yourself on the floor

There's a subtle detail regarding Erens perspective progression. During the time he colluded with Floch, he exhibits deep hostility against the people beyond the walls as he called them "mere animals" similar to how he labelled the titans before. Eren wanted to break the cycle of hatred by wiping everything off the map except for paradis which signifies that his morality is still very much "black and white", he may pity the eldians but at the same time he felt repugnance and condemns those who are prejudice and oppressed their race as he view them as "Animals" and "Enemies" nothing more nothing less, but his arrival on Marley breakthrough everything he believed, he began to doubt his premeditated plans and his prior actions after learning that he people he despises the most are no different from the people he loves and those inside the walls and so his original plan to end the cycle of violence through violence wavers. Flashing forward, the context of episode 87 considerably heightens the impact of Erens conversation with Reiner during the declaration of war, unlike before he calmly yet dejectedly expressed genuine empathy to reiner and acknowledges his actions rather than charging towards him out of rage, living for 10 months in Marley shifted his perspective and made him understood that people on the outside world are no different than those inside the walls as evidence by telling reiner they're the same and that people inside and outside the walls are also no different from each other to falco. In other words, Eren no longer bears grudge and view anyone outside the walls as enemy whether they're eldians or not, he gotta do what he gotta do in order to save his loved ones from this turmoil especially Armin and Mikasa.

Episode went from happiness to literal horror real quick, god Isayama is a legend and give a round of plause to Mappa for this beautiful episode.

Knowing that Eren truly loves his friends and wants them to be safe was so nice to see, but also bittersweet knowing what happens in the future. Fantastic episode.

I assumed Eren cut off his leg and poked his eye out while he was talking to Zeke. I had no idea Eren infiltrated the Eldian unit of the Marleyan Military. Damn. Man really had it all planned out.

I feel really painful watching Eren hurt himself😭😭😭

Even after having his arms cut off years prior, he still can't handle the pain of losing limbs in human form. This could mean Titan regeneration will restore your body to it's original state prior to damage... so you could never get used to pain because instead of your body strengthening, you feel the same pain as before.

Eren just built different

He didn't want to destroy world, but he force himself to do it... poor Eren He may act cold badass and brave but still he is 19 years old boy, who is scared and feel a lot of pressure, stress and pain. And people forget that and throwing shit on him when he do (you know what in ch 139). He is human not some psycho who will kill milions of people without guilty

I completely overlooked the fact that cutting one’s own leg, especially through the bone requires more strength than endurance of the severe amount of pain you’d be feeling This scene is agonising to watch

God the pain is unimaginable, how eren didn't pass out shows just how completely unhinged he's become. Slicing though his muscle, nerves, bone. Paramedics have to drug peoples minds out before they cut their legs off in emergencies. Eren just did it though sheer fucking will.
