Daming toxic. Pumunta sila dun at kumanta as Philippine Madrigal Singers. They raised our flag and gave their best performance and they sound so good. Why cant we just appreciate that?
"madrigal" itself entails that the singers be in a seated position. it was originally sung around the dinner table where everyone sits and sings together. hope that helps.

I would like to comment on Manny Boy's opinion however it was 3 years ago. But for the record, even if MADZ are sitting they still have the discipline. They don't sit pretty. They don't relax while sitting. Their back are not on the back rest. They are always sitting on the edge to maintain a "standing posture" which is harder than barely standing. I know a pioneer member of this group and according to some, she was a legendary soprano who have shattered 3 glasses simultaneously while doing her solo. What I were saying is MADZ know what they are doing. They are music majors too that why they never fail to sing notes accurately.
Oh, Madz, how l wish have talent in singing like this group. I have joined our school choir and we have sang this song but did not sound as angelic as this group. MADZ the best choir in the world! Eres Tu, my favorite song every morning calms and soothes my soul as l fight this virus, being home quarantined for 21 days. Thank you Lord, l survived covid 19! 9-19-20
Even in our choir during my active years before, our choirmaster tells us to sit at the edge of the chair. It is very difficult at first but you had to do it for better performance

@bandilang I agree, a choir from another country w/c mimics the sound of the weather , snapping fingers and jumping, have close to 4 million RU-vid hits, I GET IT!!!, I would do their PR if they're here in the states, coz MADRIGAL Choir are a 1000 times better, i think after 40 years,,. it's time to compete and show the world the true MADRGAL Singers from the island of the Philippines, and become one of the positive role model to other talents. thanx again.
@genremp1 I agree, change can come about if and only if the Choir is willing and the committment for CHANGE, their fans should encourage this amazing singing group, like i would, audition tapes is a must, specially in full scale concerts, Re-inventing is all over from movie stars, singers, corporations, etc. The Choir should think about re-inventing themselves, or set the standard for excellence, for the world to see.

@excellasia ah, that is their concept of singing in a semi-circle sitting down with soprano, bass, alto and tenor alternating arrangements. If you saw the other videos they get "tested" in groups of four to hold their own. Sitting down is sort of a show-off then can belt it out while sitting ; they face each other so they can hear each other create the chords. Having said that they can all do that standing. I guess it is weird seeing them sitting down. Everyone says that. Performance tho rocks!
@bandilang P.S. they have a better range than the Manhattan Transfer, They can do anything like, work for Disney, Paramount, Warner, major film studios doing music. I understand tradition, but why not be a PIONEER!!! why not go for the International market? US, Italy, France, South American countries, they all do it!!! and good talent should be seen , I just saying, thanx again. a new fan from Hollywood CA

i really do believe that their music is for the educated people.. Being ignorant of the word "Madrigal" itself speaks the person u are... considering sitting to be out of the norm?? who are u to set the standards of choral singing??? this isn't a glee / show choir ur watching. its a classical choir, btw.

I totally agree with you apart from the last part of your comment. Mozart wasn't blind, he had Tourette Syndrome. Bach became blind though and Beethoven became deaf. Anywho, I absolutely agree that music is best appreciated through hearing rather than sight ;)
@bandilang sitting on stage is their trademark I get that, however, to win an International award , TWICE, with beautiful voices with such passion and clarity, I would like to see them step up. I am not familiar with their work until YOUTube, Their is a worlwide market for them but they need to improved or do more with their cheoragraphy. Costumes need to be seen. good example: Manhattan transfer, records sold world wide. They can be the best in the world.
SirCaseyHollywood. They need to remove madtigal from their name if they do not sit or form a semi circle. They are just maintaining the tradition of the original madrigals from Italy in the 1400s.
"madrigal" -- it is supposed to mean, singing while sitting right?? so, if u happen to come by the Philippine Madrigal Singers, u MUST expect that most of the time, they are sitting while singing... Perhaps you "don't know" them.. AND THEY ARE NOT A WASTE OF TALENT. do some research first and u might just find out that they are THE GOLD STANDARD when it comes to CHORAL singing. after all, they are the ONLY choir who won the European Grand Prix TWICE.
@excellasia - If you don't like them, you don't have to. But your ignorance of an actual choral tradition seems to feed your opinion of a world class choir. They are called Madrigal Singers for a reason. Even more telling is your comparison of the Madrigal Singers to a Slovenian Jazz choral group. Not that your opinion doesn't count (cough, cough), but I think their numerous awards and SRO performances (your walk-out notwithstanding) pretty much negates your negative feedback.

hello po, I'm also a member from a Choir, so may I share this, (btw I'm only 15 years old) My teacher / Choir master introduced us to this choir, and I must say I am very impressed and proud of these singers kasi ang colorful ng harmony and ang ganda ng blending ^_^ and may I know po what is the meaning of MADRIGAL and also were is it derived from :) thank you
madrigal is an italian genre of singing. madrigal is also known as "masterful a capella singing". I am also from a choir and on my opinion, madz is still the best choir in the Philippines.
I'm confused. Since when has "madrigal" meant sitting down? It means a capella. A madrigal is a type of unaccompanied choral music. I'm pretty sure no one's ever put any limits on whether you can stand while singing a madrigal.
Baybeth Kate. The original style of the madrigals in 1400s Italy was sitting semi circle around a table. This tradition was maintained by the madz withnor without a table.

Effy, I found that out too. But only when I attended the concert. Had I known in advance I don;'t think I would have gone. Nothing against the singers but I just found it odd to see such a performance done sitting down. Maybe they should enact the spontaneity of how they get the point of performing sitting down. My 2 cents.

why wear those fancy filipiniana outfits if ipagpipilitan mo na sitting down makes music more appreciated,,music,be it performed by a world class entity or by a nobody MUST BE A TOTAL ATTACK OF THE SENSES,,you must HEAR the harmony,TASTE its sweetness,FEEL its vibrant spirit and most of all,SEE AND SAVOR ITS GRANDEUR,,,OK YOU MAY SIT DOWN.
