Must've been awkward for Hall and Nash to stand in the ring listening to Rude run down Micheals and praise Hart. In retrospect, this would have been the ideal time to plant seeds of an nwo civil war rather than months later.
You’re making sense tho. Planting those seeds would’ve made perfect sense, and been the “new” that they needed in that story. The nWo tale at that point was stale and needed something different happening.
Because wrestling fans will lap up whatever potential rumors they can. But there is defnitely a reason that wrestling journalism isn't taken seriously.
Rude was always one of my favorites. Wish he had gotten a chance to do the comeback he was rumored to be training for at the time he passed. But this is why I tuned into Nitro every week. Like Eric said especially during those 83 weeks you never knew what was gonna happen or who was next to jump shows. There will never be another period like the Monday night wars.
The first time I saw Rick Rude was in a tag team with “The Raging Bull” Manny Fernandez and they won the NWA world tag team titles on JCP-NWA. When he went to WWE that’s when he hit mega star. I think it was 1987, 88?
Meltzer was accepted by the internet at-large as "canon" for all things wrestling for like 15 years. Including his terrible match-rating system (which was really all about blowing the overrated John Cena). I am glad to keep hearing guys like Eric come out and tell the truth and remind us all that Meltzer was nothing more than a gossip and half-truth rumor spreader.
I remember when Rick Rude (RIP) appeared on WCW and WWF/WWE at the same time on television. I saw him on both shows as a kid and yelled, "What's going on here?!" Afterwards, I learned about taped shows in WWF/WWE. That was one of the most shocking moments in my life at the time. He was the only one to have appeared on both shows at the same time until I was reminded that Vince and Shane also appeared on both shows in WCW's final episode.
I was in 6th grade when I found out Raw was taped, and I used to place some bets at my school, middle school, and what would happen that night in Raw, and of course win every time. They had no idea how I knew what was going to happen, one kid really thought I was psychic
Eric if you hate Meltzer's guts so much why don't you both fight one another you both have made it personal with one another. Challenge him to a match like Zuckerberg and Elon Musk.
