As someone who knows a county employee in the city planning office in Vegas. They have not received a single licensing application of any kind from the A's organization.And...The owner would lose $76 million in TV revenue if he moves the team in Vegas. There is no market what so ever for this team in Vegas..

I hope no one listens to Byrnes take on the A’s situation. It is 110% John Fisher’s fault which is exactly why the mayor of Vegas doesn’t want them. Byrnes clearly doesn’t care about the Oakland fans because he’d rather put his rich selfish ass on a plane to Vegas… wow what a deep, well thought out response..

Great to hear from Byrnes. Most of us with no talent to play at this level would love to play 162. I think I played over 200 sandlot games one summer, we nearly lived at the ball park. If you love the game 162 is just fine, especially with all the money in the game. Don't disrespect the game.

I really expected Byrnes to have a different take. With everything we know about how the raiders are received..... Its all out of town support for opposing teams.....the city has a flat response to the A's even from a business perspective..... Odd take from Byrnes.
@sloppyjoe9517
@sloppyjoe9517 3 месяца назад
Agree. With the hockey team, they are able to make it work because their business model only requires like 18,000 fans max for 40 home games. With the Raiders, there is only going to be 8-9 home games and they are only once every couple of weeks which makes it really easy for out of towners to go to the games. With the A's - and if the stadium is going to be where the Tropicana is currently - how can they manage to bring in what the lowly Anaheim Angels (my team by the way) average per game (over 32,000) for 81 games? It just makes no sense for them to move to Vegas.

I don't know how Byrnes thinks the Dodgers are built for longevity when they have two guys who turn 27 another who turns 29 and every other position player is 30 or older. Then you look at the pitching staff which has nothing but injuries aside from what might be Yamamoto, Bobby Miller, and Emmett Sheehan. Everyone else has a history of injuries or has been injured, and with ramp up, I can't see Buehler throwing more than 170-175 IP and probably closer to 150-160 IP. That's not a team built for long-term success, it's a team with huge injury concerns, an old core of position players, and a history of disappearing in the postseason statistically.
@jtlevy9113
@jtlevy9113 3 месяца назад
They always have a top farm system because of their development and scouting. That is what sets them up for long term success. They have won the division 10 of the last 11 years. I think Kershaw is the only player that has been on all those teams so the Dodgers have already shown the ability to consistently reload and reshape their core.
@DrWestlake
@DrWestlake 3 месяца назад
@@jtlevy9113 If you look back, their farm system is highly overrated. They are usually bust with an occasional prospect becoming a star. But their overall success rate at developing talent is actually more middle of the road overall. I did a research over the last ten years about some of the supposed top farm systems and how many WAR their international signees and draft picks were worth and the Dodgers are in the high teens with the Mariners over the last 3-5 years doing enough to still rank in the top 5 by comparison.

I love Byrnes''ee, but I disagree with him on this take. Byrnes had to earn it, had to rely on his work ethic and daily grind. Guys Like Mike Trout who are content with Losing and just getting paid, guys like Rendon who just shows up and collects his pay check on pure talent. Rendon was an All-Star, World Series Winner with the Nats but hes not into it like the journyman guys like Jon Pappelbon and Eric Byrns. They live on talent and really do look at the game as a job. Plenty of guys like this but they just dont tell the world, my only slight to Rendon, but I respect Rendon at least being honest.

Agreed. People trying to act like they wouldn't do something they weren't passionate about, but someone was willing to pay them hundreds of millions to do it. It doesn't matter that there are millions of people that think that they love the game more and want to do it for less. He's one of the best. He gets paid. He got injured. His money is guaranteed. It's a risk every player/team takes. Get over it and move on.

It's a double standard, but Rendon is the wrong guy to say it. I've heard plenty of players throughout the last 20 years say baseball is their third most important thing in their life. I actually didn't find anything wrong with what he said the last two controversial interviews. When i heard him say the things, i just laughed, cause i knew he was the wrong guy to say it, or even repeat it. He signed the contract, so he should at least suck it up, be the best he can, for his teammates, and himself. When it's all said & done, he can look back without a single regret. Hate or love the sport, if you're paid big, sitting in your fancy house, and you just "eh" through what got you all of that, I think regret will set in. He is obligated to be his best and show up. I don't think anyone's asking him to toss his family and faith aside. shoutout to Byrnes, be like water, bro.

People are assuming so much from a few sentences that this guy has said. He said it's not his top priority, but he did clarify that it's a priority. Immediately people jump to "selfish prick mentality" and that he doesn't care at all. You don't get to be as good as Rendon has been in his career and play at that level, just from natural talent. He's put in the work. And the guys been injured, but because he says stuff like this people assume that they know how this guys recovery's going and his intentions. He's done nothing to lead anyone to believe with certainty that he's intentionally staying off the field. People need to calm down. And don't take the opinion of sports commentators. These guys feed off clicks, whether it's good content or controversial content and more often than not it's disingenuous controversial content. Rendon's feelings are nothing new. There have been several ex-players that have commented on this story saying that you'd be surprised how many of them feel the same way. And it shouldn't come as a big surprise. Just because someone doesn't love something as much as you or ingest it as much as you do isn't an actual problem. They're really good at it. That's it. They get paid to produce results on the field, which Rendon has and they get protection against injuries because that's part of the job. Move on. It sucks, but the guy is injured and his money is guaranteed.
@surfwriter8461
@surfwriter8461 3 месяца назад
The problem with Rendon's attitude is reflected in the amount of discussion about it, regardless of his dismissive comments lately and in the past. It's right to point out the aspect of pride in oneself and the game, a pride that teammates and fans are at least somewhat influenced by. As for the Byrnes and his comment about wanting to show off his fit bod with the right uniform, that seems pretty juvenile and vain to me.
