2:47 - Look at the faces of David Sancious and Nathan East - they know their into something that only a select few rockers get experience. This performance is a true classic.
This entire show was pure perfection. This is out on DVD so if you don't have it, do yourself a favor and go get it. If you run it through a quality audio surround system you will be left with your jaw on the ground by the end of the show. Clapton is a beast in his own right but he surrounded himself with some of the best musicians in the business and it just made for sonic perfection.
A number of years ago I heard an interview on the radio (the station was either KMET or KLOS - in California) with Clapton and he said the name came about while he and Harrison where finishing up the song. Harrison had scribble 'bridge' onto the song sheet, as in to add a bridge to that part of the song. Clapton, sitting across the table, read it upside down and thought is said Badge. They both laughed, George said he like it and so they kept it.
I was lucky enough to be at that concert. Didn't know that it was being recorded for the DVD, at the time, but I bought the DVD later. Saw Billy Preston playing with The Rolling Stones the first time I saw the Stones in 1975. Ron Wood was introduced as their new lead guitar player, after Mick Taylor left.
@EricClaptonmusic oh can I meet you? Can I please have your baby? Can I please give you my first born? My social security number? The deed to my house? Ty.
I was ridin over the turnpike heading outward frm NY, last year, I saw a fast little car ride past.....it had "SLOWHAND" on the tag...just sying..it could have been the EC !!!
This concert reminds me of the Concert for George. Just an absolute musical sound fest. And what to you know, it stars the same guy that spearheaded that concert. 😊
Thinkin' 'bout the times you drove in my car. Thinkin' that I might have drove you too far. And I'm thinkin' 'bout the love that you laid on my table. I told you not to wander 'round in the dark. I told you 'bout the swans, that they live in the park. Then I told you 'bout our kid, now he's married to mabel. Yes, I told you that the light goes up and down. Don't you notice how the wheel goes 'round? And you better pick yourself up from the ground Before they bring the curtain down, Yes, before they bring the curtain down. Talkin' 'bout a girl that looks quite like you. She didn't have the time to wait in the queue. She cried away her life since she fell off the cradle.
Of course Eric Clapton is one of the greatest- but he has on stage with him what may be about the ultimate "backup group". This, in my opinion, is a consummate performance.
@happyface4444 that thing your're talking about is a keyboard and a synth. I can't by now figure out what's that thing he's blowing, probably is part of the instrument. the guy's name is dave sancious and he is a true genius. the keyboard solo in this one and reptile song are outstanding.
+gabrieltaubenfeld1 It's called a melodica. A bit like an EWI, the blowing influences the volume and texture but he still plays on the keyboard. BTW, it's probably also the sound engineering but this is miles better than the same solo on 24 Nights, which was so quiet you heard it about as much as the drums.
It's funny, when this song was on the radio it was always a shorter studio version and was good but not very impressive. Live with the solos and band kicking ass I'm flppin
